please help me. i just moved into a house with this in a counter model and the side oven unit. i have searched and searched, i’m 21 and can not figure this thing out so haven’t touched it because don’t want to blow the house up. my landlord didn’t mention it being broken so i assume it operates normally. please tell me how to use this

@@blainecromley4588 Yeah, I have no idea why there are no videos of these working in kitchens. We found ours to be reliable. So,let me describe the handles, from left to right [o/o means On/Off with adjustment]: Left rear burner o/o, Left front o/o, Gridle Top Up/Down, Cast Aluminum Broiler pan Up/Down Adjustmeant, Burner for Gridle/Broiler Right front burner o/o, Right rear burner o/o. Ok, now to those two round vent-looking things on either side of the grille. Those were meant to be little warming trivets - you could put a mug of coffee on there to stay warm, or put some butter in a light-weight saucepan to gently melt, etc. These are right above the Left and Right pilot lights. Our 1970 did not have these vents; but the principle remained the same because the pilot lights were still in those positions. I would suggest that you go to your range and just place your hand over each of those vents, or as was our case, the same spot of the range cover, and feel to see if those spots are warm. That would be a sure way to tell if the pilot lights are on. If they, one or both, are not on, then that pilot light needs to be turned on. It sounds like you may have a limited experience with gas stoves, so I would strongly suggest that you ask your landlord if they can turn it on - or at least show you how to turn it on. They really shouldn't expect a young person like yourself to have encountered one of these ranges before. There is no shame in asking for help on this. If the vents are warm to the touch, then remember that the OFF position of all of the burners is in the DOWN position. And they only rotate 1/4 turn. Do not be hard or aggressive in your turning motion. If for some reason you turn a burner handle ON and you do not get any flame from the burner - TURN IT OFF. I am not going to describe how to turn/ignite the pilot lights,, because that is something you need to see done in person. And you really must wipe down the brushed metal stove top because it easily and quickly gets grimy with grease and stove spatters. Like brushing your teeth, it makes a difference. I know you will get this sorted out. Enjoy!!!

@@blainecromley4588 You are welcome. I forgot to mention that that these originally came with a long rectangular drip pan to be placed on the bottom of the broiler in the back. Sometimes these get lost over the years. That gets us back to the notion of giving the unit a good wipe down with a hot damp dish cloth after cooking. I know some people praise the notion of cooking meats on top of the gridle. Yes, it can be done. But, geez, the amount of grease and spatter is no little thing. Pancakes, grilled cheese sandwiches, etc...good to go. Hamburgers, bacon...clean, clean, clean. Yeah, but you're going to have fun with it as soon as get used to it. Wouldn't be surprised if you don't know anyone with one of these. Enjoy!
