The Quality of Life
This video traces the evolution of a time when people could leave their doors unlocked and windows open without worry. Today, we keep all doors and windows locked, even while at home. We never leave anything visible in our cars and lock them. Local stores are being robbed with impunity.
For decades, California has been on a trajectory that has led to the current quality of life crisis, shaped by a combination of relaxed law enforcement policies, rising homelessness, and illegal immigration. These factors have converged to create what many consider the "perfect storm", a situation where public safety, social services, and community well-being are under unprecedented strain.

This video highlights the need for better transparency and the repeal Propositions 47 and 57. When residen...

    Best report yet on the landslide in Rolling Hills/Portuguese Bend that I’ve seen yet. I have lived on or about Palos Verdes my whole entire life. When we were kids in the fifties we would sneak into Portuguese Bend and goof off. There were a lot of goof off areas for kids like Marineland, Abalone Cove when taking Abalone was legal. Luanda Bay tide pools and a myriad other things to do. Lots of bike riding for little legs. It was safe back then. Now not so much. Later in life I had the Actual gate code when I lived in Luanda Bay and had friends scattered around the “Bend”. I worked and retired from the LA County Sanitation District and of course knew everyone involved in keeping that above ground sewer that follows the busted up old road. It was an interesting week when the 18th hole of the now Trump National Golf Club slid into the ocean taking several acres of land with it. I don’t think there is one part of Palos Verdes I haven’t tromped around on. In my humble opinion, this landslide is a losing battle and I’d hate to think that my current Tax dollars are being used to stabilize this swath of land. Seems like it wants to slide into the ocean. And exactly how many homes are you trying to save. These formerly wealthy homes are all busted and cracked and it’s not getting better. The land never stops moving. I’ve watched PV Drive sliding for all my life of more than 70 years and now it’s an emergency. One persons tragedy should not be everybody’s burden. Those homes are gone. Or will be, so let them go. I don’t care about environmental concerns of PV because it once was just fields of tall grass with a few scattered trees. My friends dad used to go Deer hunting up there. But now it’s over developed, over planted and over watered. But man there are some riicchhh people up there. I’ve been in a few of the most outrageously beautiful homes you can imagine but that’s a pretty tight community up there as it has some of the most expensive real estate in the United States. Let them pay to fix their mountain. The way things are going I suspect someday the whole mountain will be off limits to the flatlanders. And the whole thing might slide into the ocean someday and that will be it then. So, good luck with all that.

    Again no sewage has been proven in the landslide water, before you report you have to prove that sewage water is traveling 350 feet with "tracing markers" getting in to our landslide water.

    This reports also skips 3 Principal historic facts - previous times frames where not even presented - the first onslaught in 1958 was just as violent and then a period of relative dormancy, or the second landslide onslaught in 1970 and a period of relative dormancy, Kindly! this report also SKIPPED all the homes that are being very successful! Many homes have successful fixed the problem with alternative foundations and live on moving land with no "Tragedy". Again no sewage has been proven in the landslide water you have to prove that sewage is getting in to our landslide.

      You are correct I did not talk about the 140 homes that were lost in the initial slide. I had a friend that has passed that lieved there. The foundation of his home ended up in the ocean. He also had a house in the Portuguese Bend Club. He talked about how he would step out of his house in the morning and dig for clams. All gone. As for the septic tank water, all the study reports indicate that it contributes water to the slip plane. I also know that those still living in the area have their homes on leveling jacks.

      Your father or was it father-in-law's house is an example of the alternative foundation on 1 Limetree which your family hired me to sell back a few years ago. It was very cleverly done and actually added utility to the house in terms of storage, workshop areas, etc.

    Well as always I will take fault with that big fake fact on our SLOW LANDSLIDE because there is NO PROOF that homes in the middle made the landslide worse -- without any proof this is same ole' same o blame-o "the people "our water has never been proven to reach the landslide 350ft if it does it is clearly not enough water volume to change the speed or accelerate the landslide due to evaporation and peculation rates - they are pumping out HUGE Volumes of water more than we can pee ( they could test it with isotope markers but they do not) SO for the next generation of landslides owners (the PBCA children) I Say and you all need to say --> "nope not our water" not then 1950 not 1970 and not now! please BEGGING EVERYONE STOP THE BLAME HOMES IN THE ACTIVE AREA WITH THESE LIES ! The slip plane is too deep the water amount too great. Not my middle dwelling water, Not Horse pee either. (seriously it has been brought up in city council meetings)

      Original homes 1940 did not have any problem for years until road work. SO added pools, irrigation and septic as exasperated the land movement is not a fact that has never been proven and even with NO SEPTIC we slide again, So is that proof that our middle water is "not a culprit" maybe the TOP HOMES filling the top Scarpe- but not the middle homes do not apply this blame to" all construction "

    Respectfully, this information is wrong. Orville completed the first actual flight at Kittyhawk. It went approximately 120 feet in 12 seconds. Wilbur did fly subsequently that day, but the first actual flight was competed by Orville. www.nasa.gov/image-article/wright-brothers-first-flight/#:~:text=On%20December%2017%2C%201903%2C%20two,of%20Kitty%20Hawk%2C%20North%20Carolina.

    Whereas this short video is very nice & informative, it doesn’t reveal how to cover the wings especially with thread as a trailing edge. It also left out important parts of rigging such as: 1) Incidence rigging -that’s crossed rigging between front & rear struts- *Except the outer most struts for wing warping 2) Rigging undersides of the top wing that shows the closed loop wing warping 3) Rigging that includes bellcranks hooked up from rudder to sliding pilot’s cradle Left out the painted propeller tips to simulate cloth used to prevent wood splitting I could add a few more details, but overall this model is very nice straight out of the box. I personally built two of the Guillow’s Wright Flyer so I’m very familiar with everything in the kit. Good show.

    I built a Dare R/C 1903 Wright Flyer. It was a very interesting model to build with lots of parts and all. It was very time consuming, but not difficult. When it was done, I set it up with the requisite R/C equipment, electric motors, etc. It looked great and I hung it up in my workroom and would just stare at it from time to time. But you know, I never flew it. I was afraid to destroy such lovely thing. I eventually sold it at the WRAM Show to one of the WRAMS. I don't know if he ever flew it. Maybe not. It's not something that you want to risk and it really doesn't look like it will fly very securely, just like the real one did not. However, Dare makes a kit of the Wright 1909 Military Flyer, a design that the Brothers much improved over their 1903 Flyer It looks like it would probably fly well, as he real one did.

    Who built an airplane that effectively took off alone, was the Brazilian Santos Dumont. The Whigth brothers flew a device using a catapult, just as modern planes take off from an aircraft carrier. They simply didn't have a motor with enough power to make their device take off by itself.

    • @aeromodeller1
      @aeromodeller1 Рік тому

      The 1903 machine took off under its own power. There are photographs and eyewitness accounts. The 1904 machine used a catapult because they wanted to fly close to home when there was no head wind. They also flew in 1905. Santos-Dumont first flew in 1906. After Chanute had reported the Wrights work in Europe.

      The first four flights on 17 December didn't use catapults. The flights took off on engine power alone. Their subsequent flights back in Dayton, however, used catapults, because there wasn't as much wind in Ohio as there was at Kitty Hawk.

    • @thecorporatepilotdad
      @thecorporatepilotdad 9 місяців тому

      The Wright brothers did not use a catapult until September 1904. The Dumont supporters almost always say the Wrights used a catapult on their first flight which is not consistent with the truth.
