Hi, Welcome to my Channel!
I'm Dr. Terri J. Speights, a Math Professor at Palm Beach State College. This channel was originally created for my students with the goal of providing them with additional resources to help them succeed in their Math course. I am thrilled that other students around the world have also found the videos to be helpful.
Please note: This channel was NOT created with the intent to provide you with an answer to your specific question to a quiz, test, or homework you are currently working on. This is simply a RESOURCE CENTER. I hope you find the information you need to help YOU problem-solve. Please use the COMMENT section to chat with other students on other methods problem solving. When I have time, I will occasionally drop in and join your conversations in the comments.
Thank you for watching!

This was VERY VERY helpful thank you!
Hi Professor Speights. I just wanted to say thank you so much for these videos!! I am currently taking Liberal Arts and immediately your videos came to mind. I remember you told us in Quantitive Reasoning that they are here if we ever needed them. It is definitely a life saver!
You're very welcome! Thanks for watching!
Though I already know these concepts really well, I enjoy watching these kinds of videos before I do my calc homework. It really helps me to warm up my brain!
Great to hear!
Great explanation… thx
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Quickest way to approach this would be plugging in your answer choices in the calculator. When I’m teaching my students, I usually teach them the “Honest” method, like you did, but then I show them the quick method and coach them on the best times to use it.
Thank you, I appreciate your feedback, please feel free to post here, how this method works! Thanks for watching!😃
@@MathExamPrep So depending on what level of math they’ve taken, what calculator they have, and how comfortable they are with their calculator, I have a couple different methods. There is only 5 x values in the answers, and notice how the left side can’t be negative, and if the x is negative, then the right side must be negative, so no need to check -7. That rules out two options. 7 is in both remaining options, so check 14. 2(14)^2 =392 and 21(14)-49=245 so B can’t be right. If you’re running out of time, pick C and keep moving. If you have time, check 7 and 7/2 in the same fashion.
I used the quad eq. Good exercise for my brain at 2 AM. 😀
Yes, using The Quadratic Formula is great also. Thank you for watching!
How?
Thanks a lot ❤
You're welcome 😊
Amazing explanation, simple yet informative. Thanks Doc.!!
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching!

Hello miss could you kindly please solve and show some of the maths from the Edexcel IAL Pure Mathematics 4 Student Book chapter 3 Parametric Equations Where we are told to find out the domain and ranges of the x values, Function y and the parameter.
Nice one. Thanks
No problem 👍
Thank you Dr. Terri
You are so welcome!
This helped so much! Thank you
Glad it helped!
{1,1,2,3,4,5..,55} any tell me cardinality of this set
This looks like a counting number set (aka natural numbers) with one added to the set. See video and treat as a regular set of numbers and add the one extra member.
Thanks mam for explaining in very simple way. It's helps me alot to do in assignment
It's my pleasure
I can’t understand your southern trailer park accent. 🤣
Philly, you are certain welcome to find another video on UA-cam that you can understand. There's no need for that comment. I'm here to help.

Dr. Speights, I can't thank you enough for making these videos. I really struggle with math but, with these videos, it feels as if I am in a one on one tutoring session! Again, THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!!!
Tara, you're welcome! I'm glad you found them helpful!
Thank you Dr. Terri for the very concise explanation.
Gisell, you're welcome! I'm glad you found it helpful!
Note to self: start at 6:57 till the graph after
Yes, the video actually starts at 6:57; however, I make it habit to go over the objectives of the lesson first.
wouldn't the answer to the first question be (c)?
Yup lol
Yes, thank you for catching that error. I wrote the correct answer but verbally stated another answer!
Thanks again, the video has been updated!
what if the question is Circles tangent at the y axis only? and there is no center.
Christian, In order for it to be a circle, it must have a center and radius.
thanks :)
Happy to help!

at 9:27 she marks (a) as being correct but I got the same answer she says is correct which isnt (a)
Zach, choice (a) is the CORRECT answer,. There is one than one way to write the answer. Please consult with your instructor for more information.
