@@silverkey1733 You mean disabling the left and right edge gestures? The relevant code is in Lomiri, not the kernel. Lomiri Plus has something called Immersive mode which disables most gestures except the top edge. I also have an indicator in the store for that but it does less and may not work in all devices.

​@@AninoNiKugi Ahh I see, I'll have to look into immersive mode. I'm trying to make something of a Kiosk Mode on ubuntu touch so disabling all the gestures is on my todo list. Thank you for letting me know! If you have any other tips for me I'm all ears

@@silverkey1733 Lomiri is just mostly QML so you can even modify it directly on your device. If you need to disable the top edge too, you may perhaps use 4/5 finger tap to disable kiosk mode since you'll probably need a way to enter/exit it.

@@silverkey1733 Sadly, there's really no documentation for Lomiri. But if you know QMl, it's pretty simple to check the code. Even if not, I thini QML is quite simple to understand.

@@Sajjad.A Libertine are proot containers. You can install apt but it doesn't really work well with GUI apps. And apps are desktop apps so they won't magically work well on small screens and touch. There's also an experimental Snap support. You can try it with the Snapzor app from the OpenStore.

@@AninoNiKugi but running a Linux distro inside proot container in Termux app (Terminal emulator) on Android phones works perfectly well even without root privilege, and we get GPU acceleration to work too. An Android app called Termux-x11 works as an x11 display on the local host. Anyway, is there GPU acceleration inside Libertine? Can box64 and Wine run there?

@@MrPolar440 This is just Ubuntu desktop, those things can work. Not sure how well yet but they can work. I already tried Steam games and they work, this isn't a gaming laptop though 😅

At this point, everyone knows that but obviously when we say Linux it's not just the kernel we're referring to. It's the "ecosystem" and being FOSS :)

@@vishalkumar040393 It really depends on you and the apps you need. For many years, I was able to survive with just Ubuntu Touch but for the past years, I have an Android phone as my secondary.

@@mwlulud2995 The aethercast (the software used for miracast in UT) is a bit finicky with compatibility. I honestly have yet to find where it works reliably. Microsoft wireless adapters are the best known to work though. However, even if you get it to work, input lag won't be good.

@@Lod2023-x7p Yes they do. They are available via snap or apt. Not sure how well they work in Lomiri though.

@@Lod2023-x7p Maybe after the PPA for Ubuntu is available. At the moment, the development is happening in Debian Unstable while the Ubuntu version is stuck. A PPA is being prepared though so Lomiri can get updates.

Check Sailfish OS with good android support (bluetooth in android apps doesn't work apart from sound). Been daily driving for 1 and a half year

@@mwlulud2995 On desktop, it's always there though at the moment it doesn't work for toggling to Staged mode. On the phone, I have a hack to always show it 😄

@@mwlulud2995 I have a collection of hacks called Lomiri Plus. But if you just want the toggle, you can modify the file `Panel/Indicators/IndicatorMenuItemFactory.qml` Look for the line "Desktop mode switch". Just remove the condition.

@@AninoNiKugi Thanks bro! I have another question for you: Have you found a way to encrypt /home because ubuntu touch does not offer any encryption which is a shame! And I can no longer install apt packages, because the / (root) partition is by default very small... I understand the philosophy of UT to limit cases and I use a debian chroot for all my apt packages and for have a 100% functional terminal, but I would just need some standard packages in my phablet for certain situations (gocryptfs to encrypt files,...). How do I resize my root partition without breaking my system? Thanks a lot for your help!

@@mwlulud2995 No, that's out of my skillset 😅 Someone else experimented with it but nothing released so far. I guess encryption is such a delicate and complicated topic. You don't want to encrypt the user's data and unable to decrypt 😄 I don't know any way to resize the root in the newer devices. It was easier in older devices like the Nexus 5 because they use loopbacks instead of actual partitions.

@@XDTuber Right now, not really. But with enough development, definitely. Its goal is a lot more than what DeX or any other OS/DE aims to do 😄 Sadly, it has no backing of million of dollars 😅

@@sureshkv007 It is mainline on the Pine devices like Pinephone. However, since UT has been developed for Android devices since the start and still is the focus, it's still not working on par on mainline devices. Also, we rely on someone to maintain the Pine ports. Luckily, there are willing people to maintain it 😄 Also, since Lomiri is now in Debian, you can now experience 90% of Ubuntu Touch on mainline devices.

@@MrBratkenSolov Yeah, smartphones are overkill especially nowadays. Just a note though that Nexus 5 is kind of unsupported now. It doesn't get updates anymore. Someone needs to do the initial effort of porting it to Ubuntu 20.04 (focal) and so far no one has done it.

@@mwlulud2995 I just think this tool is a very dangerous one. It can really break your system. There's too much risk. It's better that people who uses it really wants it and knows what they're doing 😄 I mean it's generally safe with the packages I make since I test them on my own device. Worst could happen is you need to reflash your system especially when dealing with Lomiri. But this tool can install arbitrary packages and that's where it can be dangerous.

No, since the port is kind of dead. Other variants (lower) of this is however still alive. Check devices.ubports.com to see which ones sre supported.

Sadly the notch/cutout support is still in-progress 😅 I have a fix in Lomiri Plus but it's a "dirty" hack.

I don't know. UT port for S10 is dead though.
