Spring Cleaning 2017 Pt.1: Vacuuming, Paint Transfer, and Roof Bars! (Motor Monday)
Would you recommend upgrading tires before a lift? If so, what would you recommend for off roading that will fit the stock Subaru? Will I need to then change to a different tire if I add the lift later? Thanks in advance.
You pretty much nailed it. If you plan on getting bigger tires anyway, I recommend the lift first. If you just want to get tires in the same or similar size to stock, then get tires first.
17mm socket wouldn’t work?
No, I tried. The largest socket that fits between the rails of super strut is 14mm
I got two foresters myself. One off road other 550hp "race car".
Good video man!
you look/sound like a subaru guy
Perfect I'll fit right in
thx bro.
What is your total ground clearance
With tires it's about 11"
Great video! I don't think of the Forester Wilderness as a "mom" car at all. I actually really like the styling and almost bought one ... until I decided on an Outback Wilderness! :) I'm not trolling at all. I ended up deciding I wanted that 2.4 turbo. If they offered that turbo in the Forester I would buy that thing hands-down. Anyway, thanks for sharing! Hope to see more.
Awesome music and photography.
Working on lifting my 06 impreza osw. My 1st subaru. What size wheel and tire are you running?
215/70R/16s. Any tire larger than stock will rub no matter the lift.
@TheCreateOutdoors unfortunately the impreza size of 205/55/16 has pretty much nothing for an all terrain replacement. Thinking of going to a 15" with a 38 offset so I can do a 205/65 or 205/70 in 15 that way it will be close to the same diameter, just more rubber :-)
@@umustbbornagainActs2-38 Yeah my comment wasn't so much that you can't do it just that if you plan on a bigger size expect to do some clearancing in t your wheel wells. that's all.
Hey, do you have any preference when it comes to tires, i see that youre running grabbers, which are also on my radar but ive been looking at wildpeak trails, i dont want something as agressive as k02s but im open to anything?
Nope, no preference. I'll probably be switching to Toyo Open Country for my next set.
What size is that long knuckle bolt? I just got my 1st subaru and am wanting to replace it with a stainless version when I start tearing out all the old and installing all the new :-)
Like the length and thread size? That I have no idea on. I would suggest waiting on getting the new bolts after you take the old ones out if you can and bring them to the hardware store with you.
@ yea I could do that too. Thanks :-)
Do you have spacers? Or are those +35 offset?
Like I mentioned in the video, they are +35mm
@ Thank you! I love the figment on your Forester and want to achieve that on my 98 Fozy
The Outback is a station wagon. Forester looks to me like a crossover.
From vidq❤
Excellent video and excellent advice. Have you noticed a gas mileage change after lifting under normal/street driving conditions?
Oh yes very. It gets about 20 mpg now with all of it's mods
@TheCreateOutdoors city? freeway? or combined?
@@RideShootDrink I'll say combined because it's too old to measure all of those.
Nice video, might have missed it but what engine/tyres are on the orange Crosstrek ? I'm on my 4th Subaru (2022 Outback) and really love it, and like all the cladding, as it gives far more confidence off-road, plus much easier to keep clean.
I believe it’s a 2.0 Manual
Getting my 1st subaru an 06 impreza outback sport. Installing the Anderson 2" lift. Will a 215/75/16 fit this setup? What other quality providers provide other suspension pieces I can look into for my impreza? Any other recommendation?
That's the tire size I run on mine, however being a Forester I already have more ground clearance from factory than your OBS. I have rubbing at full lock and the tire did make contact with the pinch weld for the wheel well, but that was easy enough to heat up and hammer down. You may need some of the other parts I listed in this video to get your alignment back to normal but depending on the shop you get your alignment at they may be able to get it in a good spot. I am running almost 3" of lift, so you may not encounter as much positive camber as I did.
@TheCreateOutdoors thank you! I am getting adjustable control arms for the rear. Wont i need entended sway bar links? Besides Amazon what are some good suppliers for mods?
@@umustbbornagainActs2-38 Like I said in the video, I use the Rallitek adjustable links in the front, then just regular endlinks in the rear. Or you can just run no swaybars at all, your choice.
Picking up my new to me 06 impreza outback sport. Wanting to upgrade wheel and tire package with an Anderson 2" lift. Can I get away with 215/75/16 with the 2" Anderson lift should I keep the factory offset and backspacing?
Can I replace only one tire on my sti?
That would depend on the treadwear of you other tires. If they are fairly new, then changing one tire might be okay. If not, you would have to do all four. Subaru AWD doesn't work well with different worn tires. I would definitely contact your local tire shop about it.
I think the Outback and the Crosstrek are just more popular. The new 2025 Forester looks amazing, and may change this
You don't mention a subframe drop. I want to lift my Forester at least 4" which I know will need a subframe drop. But is there absolute doom towards my car when I lift higher than 2"? I am fine with reality, and I will do it right, but I just need to know the correct way to do it.
I didn't mention subframe drops because they aren't as common of a kit for Subarus compared to 2" and under. The older Fozzies can be lifted up to 3" before really needing subfram spacers.
@@TheCreateOutdoors So If I get a 3" lift and my suspension also raises the car about an inch, I should get the subframe drop? Those two add together in total height lifted, right? I am just starting my grocery list of mods since I just picked up an insanely low miles 2005 Forester X. Would love to pick your brain further on a list of all the smaller/vaguely important parts I should pick up.
@@Tcstewie Yes, that would be correct. Most 3" lift kits have the option for subframe spacers.
Love the music. Where did you get it from. Track name? Nice color I have the Outback in the same
Do you have any recommendations for OEM grade replacement complete struts?
KYB struts are usually the go-to for that. If you want some lift out of it too you can always add some king springs or a lift spacer on top of it.
Moral of the story. Just keep the stock tires and avoid headaches
Except you'll get stuck out on the trail with your all seasons. At least all terrains in a close to stock size.
I actually have a tad bit more subs than u
Fantastic video. Ive put 135k miles on my lifted 2005 X since buying it in 2014. Here’s my take: point of diminishing returns are a thing. I have Tema4x4 30mm front spacers and 40mm rears spacers. I bought a set of trailing arm lowering blocks off Amazon, and this entire combo allowed me to easily fit some 215/70-16 Falken Wildpeaks. Slight rubbing was taken care of by folding the pinch weld up front. THATS IT. under $200 in lift parts and it became exponentially more capable. Still loving it after all these years.
Certainly! That was the cost of my 1" lift kit as well. The bigger cost came after upgrading to a 2.5" lift, where I was battling positive camber and such.
Wait! The second number on the tire indicated the percentage of the width of the tire, so 225/60 just means the side wall height is 60% of the width of the tire, so 225mm x 0.6 = 135mm(side wall height)
Yes it is!
Good advice! Your voice is obnoxious
If flat coke was a person. This guy isn't the one to take advice about ANYTHING exciting from!! It's like he has a disease that makes him pathologically a killjoy. I pity any woman who thinks she doesn't deserve better than this limp biscuit.
Hey man. Great video loved the edit. I have a 2007 forester and thinking about a lift. Glad I found your channel. Liked and subbed as you do. Keep up the awesome content!
I'm here for the comparison with the older model when you get the chance.
When the old one finally gets through its issues it will be one of the first videos I make. I want to make sure I find a good test spot too.
Did you happen to save any measurements & a list of the parts you used by chance 😅🤞 id be keen to give it a crack for my 06 Foz if I knew Dimensions lol
I did not but I'll measure the finished kitchen ASAP so I can give those to you.
@TheCreateOutdoors Cool ll Beans 🤣 You're a Legend ! That's super generous of you 😊🙌
i am from connecticut we need that bright light
keep going
Nice
I have a '21 Forester and lifted it with the Ironman 2" strut kit. My base model has smaller calipers so I could go down to a 16" wheel giving me a lot more sidewall and with 235/70 r16 Toyo Open Country A/T 3's I have a little over 12" min. clearance. The kit came with all spacers and was an easy install. I have about 4k miles on it and no problems so far, and it's still great on the street, too.
I bet you I could stand on it
Excuse me sir, your front plate is missing. Nice Forester!
This was from over a year ago. I was waiting for new plates to arrive.
@@TheCreateOutdoors I'm just teasing ya. Fellow Live Free Or Die'er.
Thank you for posting!!!
I have owned a 07’ and a 11’ Forester before getting my 22’ Forester Wilderness. The wilderness is the my favorite yet. Pull my mud boat with no issues and use it for hunting/camping etc.
It's not a wilderness edition but I have a good video on my channel of a Forester doing the Sani Pass in South Africa about 6 weeks ago. A friend of mine owns one and we took it up Africa's 8th wonder of the world, The Sani Pass, what a drive and it performed amazingly!!! 1500 meters, 4500 feet up a dirt pass with all switchbacks.
i like this video so much info here
I leased a 2023 regular Crosstrek manual transmission last year, everything I could want, only looked at Crosstrek and Outback., didn’t even notice the forester on the lot. However a neighbour just got a 2025 forester and it looks awesome, so does the older wilderness. And it occurs to me, it’s cheaper than the Outback, and almost the size truck space, for me next lease it is a serious contender if I need a bigger car…
I absolutely hated my 1" Adf lift on my 2005 outback, even running adjustable control arms still had the rear tires run the shocks. So glad i moved to the 2" lift which remedied it, but seemed to drop the rear diff to stock heighr🙃 Love the content!
Were you running different wheel and tire specs or was it the stock tire size?
@@TheCreateOutdoors different size, I moved to a 225/70r16 same width as the stock now I'm running 235/75r15
Roll/pull your fenders, install camber bolts and upper bushings, then dial in as much camber as you can. Now, it will fit.
