i live in the area that the map opened in. i have to drive almost 10 miles just to fly my drone, cannot fly in my neighborhood.

What is the difference between the GEO Zone unlock vs getting a LAANC? Maybe you can still get a LAANC but you could still be locked by DJI system?

I’m in “Authorization Zone” with airport nearby, can I just follow the steps shown in this video? Or do I have to request permission from elsewhere (FAA?) as well along with this step? Any input is appreciated.

I just got a DJI mini and it would not fly in my own back yard, because of an air base about a mile away. I contacted DJI tech support and a chat agent walked me through the authorization request process. He also expedited the request, and within 10 minutes or so I had it working. But it is still a real pain and I think it should default to not requiring permission in a residential neighborhood especially a 249g drone that is essentially a toy. EDIT: when it asked to upload "documentation", chat agent suggested I upload a blank document so I created a PDF that just said "back yard" or something, and it allowed me to continue the application. Just in case anyone else runs into this problem!

Ant we change the firmware or something and stop be tracked everytime it takes off?

update ** This way was good years ago but today there is a much easier way The app is for Iphone and Android ( Called AutoPylot ) The icon looks like a 3 000 stack on each other with a white background. This app will allow you do the same thing Ben did but right on your phone. Its FAA approved and super easy to use. Basically type in where you want to fly and input some info like duration, radius super easy even gives the authorization code to unlock that area. One thing to note, every time you want to fly in a restricted zone you need to get permission its not like you unlock a zone and it stays unlocked.

How do I import the certificate to the drone?

I have a Mavic 2 pro. I have done this on this site almost 3 years back on a NFZ but now i think this doesn't work anymore as I'm not seeing unlock option after I select that Laguardia Airport , NY in the map. Can someone plz suggest how do i unlock it now to fly on a NFZ zone

The only areas the drone locks is the red. The rest of the zones should let you fly but "with caution"

Hi there. It could be interesting, I found the custom 1001 firmware for DJI Mavic 3 drones on the github platform... Everybody can find and download it. All restrictions should be removed.
