    The best way to figure out your swing is to figure out your relationship to the club head and figure out how to get it to do what you want. Some people are naturals and some people it takes thousands and thousands of shots to even come close. I've been playing 8 years and only last week i figured out what i'd been doing wrong the whole time. It's all about your arms connection to your body. If that is how it should be you cannot come massively over the top, you cannot thin it, you cannot fat it. It's a feeling.

    i get a 6 month membership at the nearby indoor dome , 1 hr sessions, i usually go on average 4x weekly and i get a coach to work on my mechanics to prevent bad habits slipping in. I roll a ball in there and it’s time to kill snakes!! 🐍 Or the swing looks promising hitting balls from the mat and gets lost on the way to the first tee!! Of course I am going to try this today. Good video! I’m a 2.6 and this is the lowest my handicap has ever been. I’ve shot two rounds under par this year but feel like I’m getting my game together to shoot in the 60’s, at some point. I’m pretty long off the tee and typical lay up in par 5’s every time I am outside 250 and most of the time when I’m more than 220 out. I agree with your assessment on those longer iron/ hybrid shots along with scoring. And that’s a great game to practice the short putts!

    This was a really good discussion. I yet have many mental issues, but I have learned from you to have a consistent pre-shot routine. This helps. One thing that I recently noticed is I get anxious about a shot, and during the backswing, my shoulders get very tense, stopping the backswing, and then I fire from an early position. My antidote is to rehearse arriving at the top of the backswing in a relaxed state and with a definite pause, then swing through. It works 90% of the time. I'll talk to Shawn on my next visit to see what else needs to be addressed.

  • @76MUTiger
    @76MUTiger 2 місяці тому

    What a wonderful example of how to prepare and the importance of the mental game as opposed to mechanical technique! Another nugget was "distance control is more important than hitting it straight." Since I worked hard this summer to establish my carry distances. Now, I am hitting more greens and carrying more obstacles.
