Bagpiper Bruce
Netherlands
Приєднався 27 чер 2022
Hi my name is Bruce,
Im a Dutch piper who started on the 'old' age of 28 years old in October 2021.
My content is mainly ment as a diary in which i collect my progress over the years.
Im also logging my practice sessions in time played i count them and log my progress in hours practiced since i think thats more accurate than for example months played.
I hope my content inspires you to pick (or continue) playing on your instrument, everything is possible with effort and discipline.
Would you like to help me earn back my set of bagpipes?

I've recently got hooked to bagpipes because someone at my church said I should play amazing grace walking down the aisle lol. At first I kinda found the instrument a little annoying, but the more people I watch play, I gradually gain more appreciation for the instrument. Now I just love the sound!
Really cool video! I loved seeing month 8 where you are struggling blowing and hearing your lips give out 😂 I remember that feeling as a beginner and then I took a multi-year break from playing and when I picked them back up I was right back there blowing out my lips 😂I also am impressed with the move to change where you live to support your piping journey! I'm quite jealous of your sound proof garage. I tried practicing in my garage and my wife came banging on the garage door telling me the whole neighborhood could hear 😂
@@PassportTwo well, if i was moving i wanted to do it right
Hey Man ! Afternoon! 🔥🤟🙏💪🇺🇸😉
You have made great strides in three years! Keep working at it. Clearly your practice time is paying dividends. Pay attention to eliminating false fingering / crossing noises with continued work on technique, that will take you the next level.
Hey Man when you were live this morning there was a glitch either on your end or my end! It wouldn't let me respond to you! So I'm responding now I enjoy listening to your practice! It's interesting that you have a metronome now! And I listen the other day with your friend practicing with you! I am in America. In the state of Florida! Most of the time when I listen to you I do not catch you live! Good luck keep practicing I listen to you most of the time with my morning coffee 🤟🔥💪🇺🇸
💪🤟🔥🇺🇸🐊
very nice. as someone starting out myself can I ask, did you learn to read sheet music first?
i learned it on the go
Home gym and a play to blast the pipes. Jealous of that set up 😂
I like to check in on you whenever the UA-cam algorithm suggests one of your videos. I like your disciplined approach to learning the craft. You should be happy with your progress. But never be satisfied. Keep up the great work, and always be seeking the best instruction available. And keep posting on UA-cam so we can all see you reach high level playing, as I'm sure you will in time. 🎉
i will mate
Your hands are good. So if I may offer a bit of advice. Use a metronome as often as possible. And put the G grace notes on the click. Otherwise enjoy the journey 😊
fingers are 100% there, but blowing, take more time between breaths and use your arm more, make sure you have steady blowing.
Good job! Nice to see the progress.
Keep piping 😉🤟🔥💪🇺🇸
Hey man, thank you for documenting your journey! This is so interesting, especially for beginners. Can you tell me if this 20 hours is on the goose or does this also include time on the practice chanter? How much time did you spend on the PC before moving to the bag?
Well i got the goose about 1 week after i bought a chanter. and since i havent had a tutor at that point i decided the goose was more fun.. It was not the best move, i would advice against it if i could coach myself.. Firtst get a couple of tunes on the chanter in
@@bagpiperbruce thanks for the response!

Nice tunes played well! I think your microphone is being over driven or something. Well done Sir!
I like the McCallum folk pipes.
I can play drums with it
Great stuff brother... Im inspired by you man.
This is very inspirational, thank you
You've come a long way mate, keep at it!
An inspirational story. Very well done. I hope it inspires others.
Thank you so much for this! I recognize myself in the body movements, sounds, techniques, and steadiness/fingering as a beginner. It's nice to know many of us seem to start out the in a similar fashion. I'm about 10 months into regular practice on the bagpipes and get frustrated sometimes. I am trying to be more patient. I have done videos on myself a few times and I am seeing/hearing progress. Even my wife has noticed it. I don't know if I'll be with the band for next year's performances, but I am hoping. I started learning on the chanter at 61 over a year and three months ago. I have a great teacher as well as our pipe major who helps with technique and sharpening those doublings, grips and turloughs. Thanks for the inspiration!
You're a big inspiration to me, Bruce! Would you care to correspond?
ofcourse!
Strijder 💪🏻
Great job! I started not quite two years ago, and wish I had recorded my progress as you did. It is great to look back and see how far you've come. All the best as you continue your journey, and maybe I'll see you around the Dojo. 🙂
