Neutral colors are good for their versatility and ability to match with anything else. Wearing only neutral colors can get boring though. I know people who wear black most of the time. I incorporate other colors into my wardrobe, especially shades of blue, red and green since those look good on me. So I may pair a red polo shirt with black khakis as an example. Like your cap and closing comments btw.

The problem with neutral color is people wear only the same 2 or 3 and look old and plain. You said it yourself, you don't have to think. Adding a splash of color in one item makes a outfit go from ok to awesome but your going to have to use your brain.

What do you think of wearing a dressy-leaning variety of chinos along with a blazer? Sometimes I wear that with a dress shirt and tie. I feel that the nice chinos dress it down subtly from a two-colored suit level of formality.
