Olive Acres
United States
Приєднався 12 лип 2019
After the wife and I took over a small (27 acres) farm we are learning a lot on how to maintain it. From mowing, to grading the driveway from time to time. It’s not a working farm like it was back in the day but maybe one day. I have just learned a lot from other youtubers with properties so thought I’d share my rookie experience. I’m just happy that this heart attack surviving, stent wearing, leadless (in the heart) pacemaker using 72 year old can still get out and do this stuff. Just a lot slower. So suggestions welcome as well as “constructive” criticism.
Let’s fall a tree.
Had a tree that was just too close to the power line that goes to the Morton building and in the summer it blocks the security light. So cut a wedge and hinge then it fell right where I wanted it to. Another project done.

Grading the driveway with the Ratchet Rake
Переглядів 82514 днів тому
Set up the Ratchet Rake to the grader. Need to do a little work on the driveway. Will do more after we have a rain. Works better grading the driveway after a rain. Gets the gravel that has settled over time.
Some more clean up around the raised bed garden

This is an area I wanted to work on so I can have another access point to the raised bed garden.
Bush-hogging today
Переглядів 23314 днів тому
Was going to work on the Internet alley today. But being I would have to take the bush-hog off to be able to take the tractor down Internet alley I decided to do that tomorrow. Driving to the south pond music Fragment by Aerhead.
Moving leaves around with the EGO blower
Переглядів 50021 день тому
Got to say. This EGO blower is still a beast of a blower. Ran out the 5.0 ah battery and had to use the 7.5 ah battery which is a little heavier and yes it is. After using the blower for a while it was hard the grip anything for a while.

Thought I’d try some different way of using the Ratchet Rake.
Let’s get ready for winter

We have a lot of wood to cut up and split to get ready for winter. Wife will run the wood splitter and I’ll cut up some logs and bring them to the wood splitting department.
Harvesting leaves for the garden

This will be the first time taking off the deck on the Grasshopper front mount mower. Then pull behind the grass/leaf catcher and dump in the compost for future use in the garden.
And the wood harvesting continues

Today we pulled the wood splitter to the large cut pieces. This was a tough wood to split. It splitter real bad.
Really good test for the EGO chainsaw.

It passed! Had taken down a large dead tree. Now have to cut the larger part down to a size we can use in the wood splitter. Will have to stand the wood splitter vertically for this job and bring it to them. Total of large cuts and two smaller cuts with two bars left on the last 7.5 ah battery.

Thank you for the real-world demo. I've been researching getting one of these. Keep up the good videos!
Couldn't imagine life without a tractor... Great video. Subscribed
This video is pure satisfaction
I literally just received my ratchet rake. Haven’t had it on my tractor yet. I watched your video about installing it on your rear blade. That gave me an idea to try. Maybe I’ll post a video about it in the future. Nice job showing what it can do.
The trees are planted to close to the building, regardless . Some times it’s hard homeowners to connect the dots😮 try vacuuming them out. You might have better luck.👍 I would cut the tree below the rooftop
I love these Grasshopper mowers. Someday id love to own one. It looks like you have some beautiful land!
🤘🏾 Rock on 🤘🏾
you know you can purchase the powervac sistem for your Grasshopper 623
Yea, but it is a rear discharge so would have to buy a new deck. But my mowing is almost a three hours chore so I wouldn’t want to collect that many leaves. Just enough for the compost pile for the garden.
Hey, just a heads up. Don't know how close to wichita you are, I know of an auction on 11/9 that has some electric jackhammers that i would guess would be affordable. Rental exchange/ Auction Pros of Kansas. I think, anywho's like the channel 👍
was that live oak wood.
Not sure. Just know it splinters real bad when splitting it.
The 'Commercial' EGO CSX5000 has a tendency to overheat doing full bar cuts in hot weather. I haven't had the saw long enough to know how it performs in cooler temperatures. The CS2000 however; is ALSO a 20" EGO saw, that is not quite as powerful as the 5000, but still considerably more powerful than the 1800. AND it has less tendency to overheat than the 5000. That means ultimately you can get more work out of the 2000 than you can with the 5000, in my limited experience.
Good information. Will help in my decision. Thanks
Not one, but two POS chainsaws!!
You forgot to make the undercut. That trunk would have broke off cleanly if you had done that.
Started to but decided to let the weight of the tree take it down. And being it was out of the way from everything I went this route. Actually it worked out good because it allowed to make clean up cuts easier.
If anybody at EGO sees this. Send me a hat. I like hats.😊
Which size saw are you using? 18 inch? Or something else? Thx
Great job. A good days work right there?
Yes it was
That thing is pretty dang slick.
What is your fascination with the chain brake? Didn't you ever run chainsaws when you were young? Did you ever once think; "gee, I wish this thing had a chain brake." Sheesh! Granted it's a nice safety feature; but quit playing with it all the time!
How do you compare the ride quality of the front mount to the 225 mid mount? Is it a lot bumpier on the front mount compared to the other one?
Great video, what is the protective gear you are wearing over your jeans? Can I get it at say Amazon. Thanks!
I used a propane torch on the grass and weeds in my driveway, not burning the plants but changing the green colour to a darker shade. They would come back almost straight away. Anyone out there using a torch to incinerate the plants and if so, did it work?
Low lift blades will cause the deck to trash up like that. I had the same problem until i installed the medium/high lift blades. You need wind under there to keep it clear.
rather listen to the engine not that stupid music, other than that love the rear discharge
Crush on...
I have a old 727k, been looking at newer front mounts, thinking about a 72 inch rear discharge 735, it’s very windy where I live and getting grass and dirt all over me while mowing is annoying.
I have a BT735 with a 72" rear discharge and mow around 20 acres. This mower is incredible. I decided against anything with a radiator or fuel injection.
My idea is it takes less HP to dump the grass out the back than throw it across the mower deck.
I’m late to this video, but about 10 years ago I stumbled across a supply of a product called MoDeck. It’s a spray on clear coat for the underside deck to keep grass from sticking. So every year, I do a deck clean up as if I’m prepping for paint, a little wire brushing, and then apply the MoDeck. Let it dry in the sun. It really has helped in keeping the deck very clean and preventing rust! Here in Florida, I’m always mowing wet grass, and it made a big difference. I wonder if any paint thing would help, just need to have a slick surface finish. I have one can left, I’ll definitely continue with something.
Does it kill the roots, or do they come right back? I'm OK with using glyphosate on the driveway, but I don't want it near my garden. So I thought about buying a torch. How long will that tank last if just used with the torch?
The mowers is not for the disposable is build for during for 18 or 24 years old
If you no longer want your Grasshopper, I'll buy the 623 model since I don't have a mulching tractor.
If you didn’t want this grasshopper mower petrol 623 model I bought your grasshopper
I don't know who this man is.... but I like him. Seems like somebody would be a good father, a good grandfather, a good neighbor.
Nice demo, thanks
If you not able to use this grasshopper mower use i
What is use i? But the mower is fine just bent the metal deck cover on the left side when barb wire caught on it. And I don’t think the right tire in losing any air when the wire went into it. Don’t think it went deep enough. Will pull it out in a couple of days.
@@oliveacres7743 near the barbed wire use the brushcutter
I hope that was you that added the music. Not your typical brush hog video . Awesome content.
Two days ago I try the grasshopper mower 900d and great 😊 and try also the other model midmount is great machine and is able to mow grass 3 feet tall grass in only one passage
Would liked to go with a diesel on mine but that’s really getting up there in price. Yes better fuel economy, longer lasting engine but just too pricey for me.
Wonderful - thank you for the video! What is the border that keeps the turtles out? And - not sure where you are but...do you have fire ants there? If so - any tips for keeping them out?? Thanks!
That attachment works! Thanks for sharing!
Love the turtle roar
what happened with this? 👀
Holy hell! A vampire out in broad daylight a' cuttin' wit a chainsaw. Fearful. REAL fearful.
Nice job.
Nice job, fellow backyard gardener! I'm just starting my gardens again after 6 years off from being ill, there's nothing better than fresh food that's not tainted by evil money hungry corporations!
When the fast-action is in play carrying the brush, it reminds me of South Park animation.
Wow! Awesome greenhouse. How will you keep it warm during cold nights?
That chain with the auto-tensioner looks waaaay too loose. Could be because it's a new chain which will stretch and the chain is heating up making it looser. I wonder if I would rather just have the manual adjustment as in the 16" model? Auto adjust is great, unless it's not because then it isn't, right?
Good job
Wow, I did some crappy editing on this one. Oh well.
Honeysuckle on my place has shallow roots and pops right out with the Root Rake.
Yea, when I first started the clean up along the dry creek few years ago I used the ratchet rake attached to the bucket. You just push it over and pull it out. ua-cam.com/video/lxzP_m45EW4/v-deo.htmlsi=TQ7Y4YY7RJb585bo
Whats the difference between this ratchet rake.. and say.. a piranha tooth bar? Wouldn't it do the same thing?
What is it ?
