Choosing plants just because they are popular in Japan does not make them Zen. Native flora no matter where you are is more in line with Zen principles than whether or not it is on your favorite wood lock print.

There's a lot of non natives here, and a couple only native to So Cal. This is poor advice if you want a healthy local ecosystem

Please for the love of god, use the botanical names for plants or at least include them.. there can often be up to 20 different "common names" for certain plants and it's extremely inefficient to use any of them frankly.

This video was wonderful--thank you-- until you got to the part about potted Azaleas requiring "special care" during the winter months--without telling us what that special care is. Can you please let us know, as the cliffhanger is killing me. : ) I have an Azalea I have had for a few years but it has always looks skinny yellow, and sickly and has had total stunted growth and it's in a large container for it's size. Each year it looks a little worse, so I am quite worried. It looks like it is on its last leg.

PLEASE learn how to correctly pronounce the names of the plants, and other words in the video (e.g. BURgundy, not burGUNdy) Really detracts from the video to hear so many incorrect pronunciations. And can make people look silly when they go to a nursery and ask for these plants. They may get funny looks when asking for VI-burnum, for example, instead of vi-BUR-num.
