Did you actually edit the bit out where you unscrewed the damn thing or was it just you know, sitting there ?

A quick blow of air … 2:08 … and ‘ poof’ the injector just pops out 😮 … now that’s magic !!

Always a good idea to reamer the plug holes and apply a bit of ceramic grease before replacing all 4 new glow plugs, including the pressure sensor one at the same time. Good job though, well done!

Thanks for this, hardest part for me was reaching those screws inside the boot handle. The lock was slow to release, so i took a hammer to it (heck i had the replacement lock ready) Job all done now, but wouldnt have been without this video. 😊

You were lucky that they came out that easy Rob. Normally a pain in the arse to get out and they snap easily. Best to clean out the port and soak with WD40 for an hour or so be fore trying to remove them. Even give the 10mm socket a light tap with a hammer while sitting on the glow plug before trying to remove too. If those bad boys snap, you're talking big money to get them drilled out.

Hi mate, I've got the same car, did you get fault code P13D6 by any chance? Tool says its something to do with Glow Plug 3 Pressure Sensor, but not sure if it's the plug or the wire. Great video btw, thank you.

This passat is a nightmare. Bonnet cable snapped, boot lock already giving me problems ,air blower doesn't work on passenger side so windows get steam all over them need to dismantle entire dash board, cv joints need replace and massive oil leak ,dpf dead . It's not worth repairing. 8 years old car with 150k .stay away from this scrap.

Thanks a lot @rrobbiebeach for making this video. It is really useful, like @thelinmichael I was not able to get the lock open and I needed to unbolt it from the bottom under the shelf as described by @thelinmichael. After that I used a dremel with a cut off wheel attachment to cut the latch to which the lock is attached. The part number for steel fixing that the lock attaches to is 8v0827507e. Another thing to bear in mind when checking this is whether to pneumatic pipe between the boot handle and the mechanism has come loose. I think mine was detached and I needed to thread it back through the small hole in the boot and reattach it.

Thanks a lot. Will do it by myself. Looks easy. Only afraid about tighting without special key(dinamometric). How to make correct power((?. Also have a Carista shows 1 cylinder error. Also 3 cylinder with special candle with pressure-meter (100€). God bless its only one)). But question is it normal to change only 1 candle or i have to do 1,2,4 at the same time? Check shows its only 1st cylinder. Mechanics says to change all candles at once(((.

Never change the diesel filter until you remove all the dirt-contaminated diesel. The new filter is mounted only after cleaning the filter housing very well. As you did, the dirty diesel passed through both parts of the filter, then easily reaches the injectors.

It’s crazy because this looks easy af and a mechanic would charge you almost 300 bucks just to do this repair

Excellent, done the job, many thanks! I didn’t even have to change the latch mechanism in the end. A tiny piece broken of plastic trim had jammed itself between the sliding metal parts of the latch. Once it had worked it’s way out (which took some effort) a bit of WD40 has got it working really smoothly. Refitted and job done 👍🏼

Great job! Only thing I would do different is to change the oil bolt and not reuse the old one.
