I've eaten one before. Best time to get them is the first few weeks of season before they hit the hemlocks and pine trees. Once the snow flies the best way to find them is look for the chew marks on trees nearby way up. Or in pines. Dens trees are obvious with pounds of porcupine poop at the bottom. Dark meat, somewhere between a beaver and muskrat. Oh and FULLY cook them. probably 90% of them have worms which is weird because they eat fairly clean diets to my knowledge except for maybe picking them up from bones or something? And while they were at a time hard to find, habitat has improved for them greatly in the past few decades leading to lots of them.

Hard to fish that spot and not get snagged up on something someone threw in there.

such an awesome place. soft plastics are all you need. easy place to catch 100 in a day if they are eating.the fish vary in size which makes it nice for the future.

Terrible conditions in Minnesota. We got loads and loads of snow. Had 12 inches of solid ice around Christmas and it hasn’t made any since. Just a ton of snow and slush on top. I have been out 4 times

Looks like you guys had fun! I fished woodcock spillway today. Lots of little walleyes and I got about 25 big rock bass. We don't get some ice soon I might have to take the kayak out somewhere.

Was looking at your baits and was wondering for starters as a Pa. fisherman also, what colors would you think would you think best to try in our lakes.Realize it is trial and error, but buying every single type is not economical for everyone.I wish lure company’s would sell a variety Pack of colors

Sweet! We crushed em on wilhelm today. Not many of good size but we ice a mess of crappie and Gills! Managed one over 12 and 4-5 better than 10”

lol that wind was crazy yesterday when I posted the 2 videos on wilhelm fisher person page. I’m gonna go poke around at the dam end tonight or tomorrow with my son and see what the ice is like. Hopefully Monday the winds will die down and we can get some fishing in. Merry Christmas!!!
