Is the Lego GWP Fell Beast That Bad?
Переглядів 2822 місяці тому
I just wanted to make a quick impromptu video about the LEGO gift with perchas Fell Beast. I can't wait to hear what you think!
Great list! By the way, the designers mentioned in an interview that they did the Bard legs so that you could swap them out with the Aarakocra Ranger, who has the leather armour, so you can make a full leather armour set for a humanoid. And the rat for Strahd is because you encountered rats as a low level enemy in the Ravenloft Adventure.
Ooo I hadn't seen that. Thank you for letting me know! I'm not sure if that changes where the bard is on my list, but it makes me like it a whole lot more. They did an amazing job on this series. Also thank you for the support, it means more than you know!
the druid is nr1 for me, with the 2 sided flared cape and the awesome hat. Just perfect to me.
It is a beautiful figure. That hood piece is one of the best pieces I've seen in a long time.
Me and my friend went in for an entire retail case of these, which contains 3 sets. For the extra set we took turns picking the extras. We flipped a coin, and I got to pick first. The picks went-- 1. Dragonborn Paladin 2. Aarakocra Ranger 3. Tiefling Sorcerer 4. Mind Flayer 5. Szass Tam 6. Halfling Druid 7. Elf Bard 8. Gith Warlock 9. Dwarf Barbarian 10. Strahd von Zarovich
That's a great way to do it! Especially if you don't mind the extras! I still need to pick up another set for my campaign.
@@Bosbrick Right, for this set, me and my pal were totally fine having extras. The set is so nice.
You should make a full vid
I'm glad you want to see more! I am planning on making a video covering the whole set once I've got the shorts covering each piece done.
Very cool
Thank you!
Not sure if anyone else mentioned it- I'm not familiar with Szass Tam but I do know that liches tend to keep their soul bound within an object, typically a crystal or gem of some sort. If Szass is a lich then he may have bound his soul within this red crystal skull. Liches are immortal (fully regenerating with enough time, even if completely destroyed), only being able to be fully destroyed if their phylactery (where their soul is kept) is destroyed.
I think that is a great explanation, and makes the skull cooler!
WotC should release a ruleslight D&D book for kids to use with these sets.
That's a great idea! There is a digital book that can be downloaded for the main set from Lego, but I do think making a full kid friendly system would be awesome!
elf bard is last.....and this list is shit
dragonborn is first.....and this list is great
i think bard heairpece is links hairpeace fromthe dekku tree set
It's very similar, but I think there are a couple of differences. For example the hair right in front of the ears is longer on Link. It is a little surprising that these would be different molds.
14:35 it is called a cubic gate
Never played dnd, just a jrpg fan in general
This is just The Mystic Crystal by Ninja Sex Party, but without NSP themselves. Lol Great video, though. Loved this theme as a kid. Might try to do a build of something with some of these sets someday
Haha now that you mention it, I hate how many similarities there are! And thank you! I really appreciate it. You should for sure revisit this theme!
I'm someone who doesn't know much about DnD having only played one campaign, but here's my ranking: 1) Lady of Pain. Lucky to pull this one first, she's a goddess, look at her head, her cape, her floating. 2) Tiefling's got it going on with the magic missile and the horns and the dragon. 3) Mind-flayer. Two really cool molded pieces. Cool vibe. 4) Dragon Paladin. He's cool, sure. His shield and armour especially. But I think the dragon head is too big and goofy. 5) Szas, is that how I spell it? Cool chest print does it for me. 6) Halfling for the headpiece. 7) Tasha the witch. She's hot shit. 8) Bard, lute. 9) Vampire. Cool. 10) Dwarf, cool 11) Gith guy. 12) the ranger bird. I don't like birdmen
Great list. Some good points there! Lady of Pian is one of the most impressive figures we've gotten in recent years for sure!
Definitely show off some of those moc builds!
Now the pressure is on to get them done! I didn't expect this much support for them.
totally loving these and wanting more!
I got 10 for 3 gith, 3 tasha, and 4 red wizards. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined
Aww man, that's rough. Hopefully you can trade them or use them for customizing!
@@Bosbrick im trying to sell or trade the dupes. Not going to customize much since the rest of my collection is starwars and i no longer have a dnd group
This video is very un information. The narrator says I don’t know so many times it’s annoying.
Thanks for the feedback!
The dwarven torso goes well with the barbarian legs from series 25 they match perfectly
You're right! That's awesome!
I think something's off with that mini head...
That's because it's a mold from the Vidiyo theme haha.
Bro did the Gith Warlock dirty. He's my favorite of the whole line. Nothing could be better
Something had to be down there haha. I really love that eyeball staff!
1. Elf Bard - exudes "main character" vibes and I love it (what is he doin in last place?? No but fr I'm biased since bard's always been my favorite class to play, lol) 2. Tiefling Sorcerer - fantastic accessories and great design overall. The red dragon pup is goated 3. Dragonborn Paladin - I mean, what else can I add? It's (quite literally) brilliant in every regard 4. Mind Flayer - classics be classics, plus the Intellect Devourer is cute 5. Tasha - love her outfit, headpiece and face expressions, as well as the fact she comes with her signature spell. Would be higher if it weren't for the flimsy cauldron 6. Strahd Von Zarovich - I love Curse of Strahd and they did the titular big baddie justice. He's held back by somewhat generic accessories 7. Gith Warlock - he's the wrong shade of yellow but at least he's got cool prints and weapons. I like how he can double up as a rogue 8. Aarakocra Ranger - love the baby wolf and the new molds but I'm just not heads over heels for avian characters, lol 9. Halfling Druid - awesome headpiece but just a tad bit less interesting than most other characters. Would rank him lower if I didn't like druids so much 10. Szass Tam - not in love with his face expression nor with his accessories but otherwise pretty good 11. Lady of Pain - great minifig but I'm just not familiar with the actual character, so Idc that much about her 12. Dwarf Barbarian - I hate that they didn't bother to print her legs. Shame, because the outfit and new axe mold are really cool. Barbarians were always my least fave class anyway, so...
Thank you for sharing your list with me! You have some great points! As far as the bard goes, something had to be last on my list, and I'm not as big of a bard fan as it seems a lot of people are. Still a great figure. Also yes, the Barbarian not having leg printing is a crime.
@@weebto I actually think this might be the definitive list.
The spell is Tasha's Hideous Laughter.
The bard is my favorite character of these the white elf hair piece the teal torso not a common color just stands out I would put the vampire and the witch lower at least
I am surprised, and at the same time think it's really cool, that there's so much love for the bard! It's such a great figure, It's just not as attractive to me as the others. I also really appreciate how unique it is!
The second figure at 3:30 is not actually an elf, it's a Githyanki, a character from the Astral Plane in D&D. They actually do have yellow skin, and their archenemies are the Mindflayers, who had enslaved the Githyanki for centuries until they rebelled against them. Lae'zel was an extremely popular Githyanki character in the recent Baldur's Gate 3 videogame.
That's super interesting. I've never played Baldur's Gate, but a friend of mine was really excited about the Mind Flayer because of it. Thanks for giving us more context for the figures!
The spell in Tasha’s book is a spell called Tasha’s hideous laughter. Also her minifig looks exactly like how she is depicted in the cover of the book “Tasha’s cauldron of everything” which goes well with the cauldron she comes with
That's really cool!
No humans player character. I hate it.
I think that's a valid complaint, however, what's so great about this series is the fact you can make any of these figures human or whatever you wanted.
I don’t care for D&D but I love that this is the closest to a Castle CMF we may get. I like the Dragonborn, Halfing, Eagle Ranger, Vampire Lord. I want the baby dragon, just not the teefling (so?).
The castle potential for this line is incredible. For the Tiefling, you could still use the body and legs for a wizard or maybe a noble. The purple robes are awesome, and don't have anything that makes them have to be a Tiefling.
Ranger army is awesome for Aragorn. His ranger group got cut from the films.
That's a great idea!
I actually used that dagger from the warlock for my dune figures it looks so much better than the kitchen knife looking thing.
It seems like that would fit really well!
I’m discovering your channel from this video, you have great takes and explain the figures in a way that customizers (like myself) really appreciate. definitely gonna sub, keep it up! love the video
Thank you for the support! It really means a lot, and will help me keep putting these videos out. I'm really happy to hear you're enjoying the content, and I hope you can continue to enjoy it!
Would love to see the whole set up for your Lego D&D campaign! The sets and Mocs, the NPCS… I’d love to see it play out too!
Thank you! I wasn't sure if there would be any interest in it, but I'm 100% going to make some videos on it now. Now I just need to get everything ready and figure out how I want to film it. Haha
Finally someone showed Mindflayer and szass tam in this series, most people put these in the bottom but thank you for putting them so high
They are incredible figures!
Bro litteraly is app for svan qr code and show you what figures is in
Finally someone that knows about mace. Most other channels call that paladin weapon a magic scepter smh😂
I am the target audience for the yellow githyanki headpiece. It is reusable for castle elves.
My personal 3 favorites are in this order: 1. Dragonborn Paladin 2. Tasha 3. Half-Elf Bard
That's a pretty good line up! Nothing beats that Dragonborn, haha.
I tot the red crystal skull was his cup.
when i first saw the brain dude i thought he would be perfect for a skeksi
Man, I would love some Dark Crystal Lego.
@@Bosbrick i know 😭 😭 😭
where did you find them early?
I found them at my local Walmart. There are a few in my area, and it seems most put them out around when I found them several days ago. I was lucky and saw them right after they were put out. I went back the next day, and they were all gone.
I’m not sure why Strahd comes with a rat. I’ve played through Curse of Strahd (the campaign book featuring him) and surely a bat or a raven would be more appropriate? Stunning figures though.
I did think it was weird for him specifically, but I think it's just because a lot of vampires can summon them in DnD. I do think a new bat mold would have been nice for him.
@@Bosbrick Agreed, the current bat molds are shit so a new one would’ve been really nice. I’d have thought they’d get a lot of use out of it in Batman and Castle lines too.
There is a reason to pick up 2 of each non named characters, like for doppelgangers, spells that do mirror images, and cursed items that change genders, good to have the option, having duplicates of the others, if customized, good for factions
I didn't even think of that as a possibility! There's so much that can be done with this series.
I swear the Gith is a Sorcerer and not a Warlock. The Tiefling is the Warlock, right? I've seen every single reviewer call it a Warlock but I think it's not...
I think you have a good argument. However, other reviewers and I are going off of the names Lego themselves have given these figures. Ultimately they can be used for whatever we want, and we can give them any backstory.
Both are a little mix of each. The Tiefling has Eldrich Blast as an accessory, a Warlock spell, but the baby dragon implies a link to dragons, like the Dragon Lineage subclass for Sorcerer. The Gith's staff I believe is a reference to how some Warlocks often have weapons that are linked to their Otherworldly Patrons, a way for them to "Keep an eye" on their pacts In a way, they're interchangeable, which adds to the customisation thing. Like how you can remove the wings from the Aarakocra to make an Aasimar
@@antoniedekoning9436 That isn't eldritch blast it's very obviously a magic missile, and that dragon is supposed to be a pseudodragon familiar which yes it's probably also a reference to that subclass. In short it is a tiefling sorcerer and gith warlock
easily most excited for the bird. easily my favorite
He's super cool! You could even use the parts to make other kinds of figures too. I'm really excited to see the customs people make with it.
Gith are canonically space aliens, and they have beef with the Mind Flayers for destroying their homeworld.
The spell is Tasha's Hideous Laughter.
Thank you for letting me know! I'll research it and her more.
Hell yeah show us your lego campaign!! That's super interesting and I don't think they're any other youtuber that has done that (yet)! 🔥
I'm glad you're interested in seeing it! I'll have to make sure I get it going soon!
If i order 12 from lego site will i get full series in a box or there could be some reapeats
@@feliksgolemo7104 repeats
I would say it's pretty certain that you'll get duplicates that way unfortunately. However, they will sell six packs of figures online here - www.lego.com/en-us/product/dungeons-dragons-6-pack-66765 It's guaranteed there will be six different figures in each box. You have a much better chance of getting them all if you order two of these, but there's still a chance you'll get two of the same box.
There are 2 apps you can download. Minifig Scan & omgbricks. It will bring up a pic & name of what's in the box. I have to go to wallmart or another retailer lego is on to this so they keep them on the counter now
The Summoner d&d clip is such a nostalgia hit
I couldn't resist using it in the video. One of the best DnD things I've ever seen.
@12:00 That spell is Tasha’s hideous laughter.
Thank you!
The Lady of Pain’s accessory is a magic item in D&D lore called a Cubic Gate that allows the user and their allies to move between the planes of existence. While I’m thrilled that LEGO is releasing a D&D CMF series, I’m not fond of the dungeon punk style which this series captures, e.g. conspicuous stitching and excessive buckles. That’s not the fault of LEGO’s CMF design team; the minifigures are true to the source material. It’s the fault of the D&D 2024’s designers who are reusing an outdated, inappropriate and unappealing aesthetic.
Oh cool! Thanks for telling me about Cubic Gates! I can't wait to look into them more. That's an interesting take on the new figures. I think that's a very valid concern. I'd also like to see some more variety of fantasy/RPG figures in the future.
For a more serious aesthetic one could adapt LotR minifigures.
Dungeon punk is pretty cool tbh I don't think d&d should lean into real medieval gear too much
