    Peace be upon you, our dear professor. Broiler chickens eat fermented feed from how many days old. Please reply. Thank you.

    Here is so much easier way. Get a 5 gallon food grade bucket. Put in equal parts, chicken feed and water and stairwell. You can add a splash of apple cider vinegar if you want to. Put the lid on doesn’t have to be tight. Stir it every day for 2 to 3 days. Then start feeding it to the chickens. When the bucket starts getting low on feed add equal parts feed and water again it will ferment overnight and you just keep it going. Couple times clean out the bucket completely and start over. Works with any kind of feed.

    A basic chaffle is just egg & cheese. Definitely don't need almond flour, which is high in oxalates, which can build up in the body, causing everything from kidney stones to joint pain, etc. They build up over time, so you don't know if it's a problem until it's too late. Then it can take years for the body to get rid of them. Under a microscope they look like shards of glass. I found out the hard way about all this so always try to warn people. If you think about it, people never used to eat so many nuts. They were hard to find and harvest, and then used in moderation.

      If that's a concern of yours there'd a whole lot of veggies, fruits and nut that contain oxalate, although a more animal based diet will significantly reduce intake of oxalate. As far as how this relates to making some chaffles as a versatile low-carb/keto bread alternative... well for one the basic egg & cheese chaffle is not a bread alternative, it's just cheesy eggs. In the recipe I use for 2 chaffles it called for 1tbsp of almond flour which is equivalent to about 12 or 13 almonds. Now people that have issues with oxalate and run the risk of kidney stones would need to eat (Disclaimer: I'm not a doctor but I know how to research) about 70-140+ almonds per day to really run a risk oxalate overload and kidney stone development. So if oxalate intake is a concern for you, unless you plan to eat 6-12 or more chaffles per day you should be just fine. By the way the most common form of oxalate is calcium oxalate, and a vitamin h2 deficiency in the body can result in calcium buildup where it shouldn't be. K2, which is plentiful in particularly grass fed beef, helps in getting the calcium where it needs to go like the bones, teeth, etc

    I believe it’s comfrey root that would be made into pulp and casted for broken bones, also called “bone knit”.

    • @Half-Acre-Homestead
      @Half-Acre-Homestead 2 місяці тому

      Yes but both the roots and leaves were commonly used as "knitbone" though the root has higher concentrations of the active componds pyrrolizidine alkiloids, leaves were also used too. It sure is an amazing plant, great for various medicinal purposes and a great feed plant for animals.

    They won't pull nitrogen out of the air and carry it down to the soil. That's not how it works my dood. lmao

    • @Half-Acre-Homestead
      @Half-Acre-Homestead 2 місяці тому

      Lol yeah actually that is how it works doood. Nitrogen is a gas, the "nitrogen fixing" plants pull nitrogen out of the air, convert it into a compound that travels through the roots and through a symbiotic relationship with a complex fungal and microbial web in the soil the nitrogen is made available to other plants.... but you're just a troll that can't spell dude so this probably isn't for you

    Wow you did a fantastic job converting your metal shed into a chicken coop. I purchased a small metal shed just for a chicken coop project, to begin in the Spring, here in the PNW. It appears we might get a sun break or two very soon. Anyway, your wonderful video has enlightened me of what my shed to chicken coop might look like shortly. Oh, I like the windows and your automatic coop door. I was wondering regarding the run area, whether you laid any wire around the outer edge of that great run and if so, about how many inches out from the lower frame? Just trying to get your thoughts regarding how far out the wire might be extended. Okay, that question asked, I just wanted to say, Great job and thanks for sharing. God bless!

      Thanks a lot and that's great, I hope to hear it all goes well for you! Our shed coop has worked out better than I had anticipated and easily survived our New England summer and winter. Its nice to see many people these days are taking steps towards self-reliance and being able to produce some of your own food is a big part of that. Best of luck to you!

    You have that nailer angled so much that most of those nails hit the subfloor and curled back up under the flooring. That nailer should be angled just like the field floor stapler which is 45 degrees. They make a power jack for prying up flooring at the walls.

    • @Half-Acre-Homestead

      Well we've got 11 hens, they get 1 scoop of feed per day. The feed we give them is pretty inexpensive from a small farm store but we often feed them food scraps from the house and from a local commercial kitchen so our feed costs are pretty low. Even with the frigid temps we're still averaging around 4 eggs per day.
