I once was a Trinitarian and have spent a lot of time and money getting Bible/Theological degrees from conservative schools…and through all of that I still didn’t notice things and I shut down folks who back then sounded like I do now. So I’m familiar with the proof texts. Trust me, you’ve a lot more work to do besides pointing to what you think is a slam dunk passage. You’re coming to that text already having been taught T-ism and what that passage is teaching, and yet, when applying basic reading comprehension and hermeneutics it cannot mean what you and T’s want it to mean. You have to take off the trinitarian glasses and let the worldview categories of the biblical author and his audience help you understand.

@@BreakingBreadwithBurke Even though the very quote I gave you was Christ's explicit claim to divinity, which in context of the verse was taken to be so by those around Him -- so much so that they picked up stones to kill Him for blasphemy. I'll keep studying. But you should probably do the same.

I do of course disagree with your assessment of the passage and that their response confirms what you think the text is teaching. Can I offer one question to help you think more? In that passage, are you saying Jesus is claiming to be numerically identical to the Son of Yahweh, Yahweh, and the angel/messenger of Yahweh-all at the same time?

@@agitacademy There are no explicit texts that prohibit polygamy. The Old Testament did not prohibit polygamy. Rather, there are more than 40 important figures mentioned in the Old Testament who were married to more than one wife.

@@nathanngumi8467 the Bible doesn't say that , u just assumed that ..murder was wrong with or without the fallen nature ...u can't provide one scripture that backs that having more than one wife is a sin , what God is against is divorce ...That God gave Adam eve isn't God saying , u must marry one wife ... When the Bible talks about cleaving to ur wife , no further points on taking 2 wives was mad ..we just added those parts ...For this reason , a lot of women will remain unmarried ..

The problem with Christians is that they have replaced God’s law, which is polygamy… with illegitimate relationships… A married Christian man has multiple relationships with other women, and so do his wives… and this is the reason for the increase in sexually transmitted diseases… the height of hypocrisy… to the point that some Christian men know that their wives are having an extramarital relationship, and he is silent… therefore…

In 1 Tim 3 It says a deacon and overseer must be faithful to their wife (singular). In Gen 2:24 Mark 10:7 Jesus states for this reason a man shall leave his parents and be united to his wife (singular) and the two shall become one flesh. The Bible directly states it. Polygamy is recorded in the Bible only. It is unfaithful, demeaning and the opposite of what love is.

@@annie_sherbet91all of above scriptures says nothing about God being against ..Noah had 4 wives while God was discussing the ark with him, God never complained about David having 5 wives , the scriptures u put has no place or commandment not to take more than one wife ..also to further disprove ur point , in exodus God explicitly said , ' if u have 2 or 3 wives , just treat them fairly and dont deny providing for them '(exodus 21:10 - If he takes another wife to himself, he shall not diminish her food, her clothing, or her marital rights. )..God even went further to explain how to share inheritance when u have multiple wives ..if u truly believe the scripture the above is unarguable ...I don't expect u to anyways , we live in a society where government and courts regulates marriages ...so I don't expect it to be easy for ur mind to digest

@@sufironic2 Abraham was never married to more than one wife. He slept with Haggar because Sarah asked him to. He remarried Keturah after Sarah's death. He was never married to more than one woman at the same time. Jacob wasn't a prophet of God, neither was Gideon nor Solomon. They did right in the sight of God. Didn't make them prophets or messengers.

@@sufironic2 If you're talking Messengers/Prophets of God, you'll mention Moses, Elijah, Daniel, Paul, John, etc. These people were specifically chosen for very important purposes during their time on Earth, and some of them were either married to ONE wife, or were not married at all.
