The Basic Shawl Pattern
Please be sure to subscribe to catch all of my FREE stitch and pattern tutorials.
When you enter the world of creating with yarn, you quickly learn that shawls are one of the most popular pieces. You may also learn just as quickly that they aren't always easy to make. This shawl is meant to fill your craving to create a shawl, but in a way that is doable for most levels. This piece is not only easy to make, but it also creates that classic triangular shape. This pattern is written to create a large shawl to drape generously, or even be turned around to wear as a scarf!
You will need a 6mm hook and approximately 615 yards of your favorite worsted yarn. I used one skein of Re-Spun Bonus Bundle by Lion Brand and it is so soft and has an amazing drape. If you use another yarn, just be sure to check your gauge - which is approximately 13 sts x 7 rows per 4"
Distribution of this pattern of any kind is prohibited. You are, however, more than welcome to sell finished pieces using this pattern. Just please make sure to credit me and provide a link to the Etsy or UA-cam.
If you prefer to have the written version, the pdf is available on Etsy. Link below:

Very pretty 😍 have to learn this. Thank you 🙏 😊
❤❤❤❤
Thank you for this tutorial. For those newer to crochet it is important to say out loud every move, i.e., 'turn your work'
Yes. .. ears always make things cuter!
How many chain do I have to make if I want to make a smaller or bigger than what you’re making right now. Thank you 🙏 😊
I’m going to do the math and let you know as soon as possible! I just had a baby so it’s been a little crazy here!
Half double crochet ( it just looks so cool) 🧶
Definitely a bobble stitch
Love this❤
That is so much better than the chain foundation! I've never seen this before, thank you!
You are so welcome! This stitch is such a nice time saving trick!
I love doing mixed stitches. Especially on a large project.❤

Very cute ❤🎉many thanks
Yes please!
Powerless by Lauren Roberts! One of my all time faves and probably my #1 of 2024
Technically ive finished it but hatchet by gary paulsen
What a very beautiful pattern. If i may ask, if i don't have the cotton yarn, would it still work out using a 3 weight yarn instead?
Thank you! And yes, the pattern can still technically work using a lighter yarn with modifications. You would need to start with a larger foundation than 55, however, and measure it out. The pattern should still work if you’re adding multiples of 4, so 59, 63, 67, etc. And then when you reach your repetitions in the pattern, you would simply need to repeat the instructed rows a couple more times and measure along the way.

What is the multiple for this pattern? I may want to adjust the size. Thank you so much. This is very pretty!
Thank you so much for your interest! I just drew it out (because math and I aren't always friends haha) and from 15 on, you'll be able to complete the sequence on every 4th number from there. So 15, 19, 23, 27, and so on. I hope that makes sense!
Yes, thank you so much for your reply! 😊
@@ger4796 you’re welcome!
Hi. I can’t seem to get the double foundation stitch down.😩 can I just start with a regular foundation chain and a row of double crochets…? Thanks
@@cecelianelson9303 hello! I do have a video for foundation double crochet but if you prefer, doing a regular foundation chain followed but a row of double crochets is perfectly fine and will give you the same result!
Thank u. I think I finally got it lol just took I’ll practice .😆 my eye sight not the best lol love the pattern.
@@cecelianelson9303 I am so glad you’re enjoying the pattern and that you’re getting the hang of it! You’ve got this!
Mine is 6mm aswell
Just one more row!
