Sassafras debris loading
Переглядів 262 роки тому
Removal of a 50' Sassafras due to storm damage. This video is just loading the debris. All of the brush and logs fit in one load. Video is showed at 2X speed to shorten video length. Bit of poor video quality due to high humidity fogging up the camera lens.

Preventing lawn damage while felling small tree trunks

This technique will not work for every tree, I've used it with success on several smaller trees as long as the face doesn't close and break the hinge. This works best on trees that hinge well such as the Birch in this video.

Progress of new splitter (no upgrades completed at this time)
Переглядів 1625 років тому
Just documenting my log splitter build/rebuild. I bought this splitter exactly as shown, 212cc predator engine, vane hydraulic pump (unknown gpm) belt driven. Next step is a direct drive 8 gpm 2 stage. Eventually I hope to increase the cylinder and add a box wedge followed by a larger engine and pump, sometime down the road
What brand pump is it?
The pump, love-joy and engine to pump adapter are all purchased from splitez. m.splitez.com/log_splitter_pumps.html
What size is your cylinder?
4.5" OD cylinder 2.25 OD rod and 24" stroke
How far does the grapple reach?
This one reaches 24' from the turret.
@@justinhinten240 awesome! Thanks man
I got a 16 gpm with 18.5 hp motor and can't get it to split a twig
First off, I'm no hydraulic mechanic, but I'd put a gauge on it to check your pressure. It's possible your pump is worn out or it could be adjustments on your valve. Most are adjustable to prevent building up too much pressure when getting stuck on a log. Could be set too low to be effective.
What size engine is on the splitter?
Right now it has a Predator 212cc engine (6.5hp) I'll be upgrading to a larger one (16hp) and a larger pump (22gpm) in the future for faster cycle times. The current engine is what came on it when I bought it, it's actually one of the easiest starting small engines I've dealt with, so no complaints other than it won't run a larger pump in the future.
My question is HOW IN THE HELL did you get that up there inthe first place????
Haha. I'm really strong 💪💪💪 I use a mini skidsteer with a BMG grapple to load the larger rounds. My end goal is to touch the wood minimum amount of times as possible. I just added a worktable around the beam and am going to extend it up to the height of a IBC tote. Wood will be loaded with a grapple, split and pushed into a tote, and the tote will be moved by the skidsteer.
