Приєднався 25 сер 2015
Hello and welcome to Perseverance Reef! My goal is to prove that it’s possible to have a spectacular reef tank on a budget.
I’ll be discussing sumps and filtration, reef lighting, fish, soft corals, hard corals such as LPS and SPS, anemones, shrimp, starfish and other invertebrates.
I’ll also post updates on my reef system, including what I’ve done or added to the system and why, and my failures and successes. Also, watch out for the occasional unboxing (or unbagging) of fish, corals and other invertebrates!

Caution when dosing a new reef tank!

In most instances you don’t want to dose new tanks. There are exceptions to every rule, one of which I cover in this video. #reefcommunity #reefobsessed #reeftanks #reefaquarium #fishkeeping #aquarium #coral #corals

Reef Tank Update - 12/21/24

I’ve added a couple of Trochus snails and a dime sized tuxedo urchin to the system. I’ve also begun dosing ammonium chloride and sodium silicate which in tandem will promote flora and fauna that outcompete the dinoflagellates.

Tonight’s topics include diminishing dinos, the green algae replacing them, and some advice on, well, advice.
My dinos grew tails! 😵
Переглядів 5010 місяців тому
In my continuing fight with dinoflagellates (“dinos”), there appears to be a light at the end of the tunnel. Let’s hope it’s not a train! Of course, as the old cliche goes, nothing good happens fast in a reef tank. It’ll take time but the dinos will be gone, most likely in time for the move.
Reef Tank Update 3/2/24
Переглядів 3810 місяців тому
Today’s reef tank update focuses on my low ALK and high CAL, what I’m doing to fix the water chemistry imbalance, why I’m allowing so much green algae to grow on the front glass, and how long the system will have to recoup before the move.

@@Perseverance_Reef you too ill be here for the next one.
The fish are looking so happy today! What a beautiful habitat.
Thank you! With the dinoflagellates gone the fish, corals, shrimp etc can literally breathe easier. These particular dinoflagellates can kill a tank’s inhabitants with their toxins when they get out of hand. Since the dinoflagellates have been beaten back, you’ll see the fish, shrimp and corals being themselves and being content.
love seeing nature in action!!💕💕
@@DreamscapeTunes-d5y Thank you!! Me too!
Really good looking tank mate. Good luck with it ❤
Thank you! It’ll be looking far better before long.
