Thanks, subscribed....
thank you !!!
How have I missed this concept through all the years I’ve used Photoshop? This video was just a forehead slapper for me. Thank you for extracting my cranium for me.
Your welcome... exposure blending is an essential skill to learn for digital landscapes. Especially when you start to shoot for bracketing.
I always convert the duplicate layer to a smart object so I can go in and tweak ad refine the blur amount if needed.
Yes that is an ideal process to do for fine tuning the effect if you want control later.
Thank you so much Matt for the helpful tutorial! I am just wondering if we can add a very subtle gradient from right to left to simulate the slight light fall off on the picture too? Good luck!
Yes you can certainly do that to add more realism to the shot.
@@Photies75 Thank you so much Matt for your kind further note in reply to my question! God bless and good luck!
Thank you so much Matt for the very helpful and informative tutorial! God bless you and good luck!
Your welcome.
So true your work is personal to your customers. Nice video and beautiful work!
Thankyou. :)
Great Video - have you tried method 3 with Blendif to remove the shadows by feathering the darks so that you are only working on the highlights>?
No I havent tried that but it would certainly be method you can add to refine the blend. With photoshop there are so many ways to do things. Thanks for the comment... people reading it may want to give this a go as it sounds like a very good step. Will keep it in mind myself.
Thank you so much Matt for the informative tutorial! God bless you and good luck!

I had it on 32 bit. Finally! THANK YOU
Matt, your amazing techniques extend beyond your photography.
Thanks... your welcome. :)
Would have been nice if you just went straight to the point.
Mate thats why you can skip through videos and why I put in time markers... so you can get straight to the point if you wanted. Thanks for the comment though... hope you learnt what you needed for free.
Helicon Focus Pro I hear good things.
Ok good to know there is another program out there. I'll check it out. Thanks
mmmmmm looks very interesting. Thanks.
This is a really good technique for when there is movement. Exposure bracketing is useful for static scenes is that the correct reasoning?.
Would you then over expose or shoot in the centre of the exposure meter?.
Yes correct or if you find an area in your image challenging when it comes to recapturing detail or opening up dark areas.
Seeing your only using one image I would just shoot it normally... ie exposing to the right in terms of your histogram.
@@Photies75 Thanks.
SUBBED. Thanks.
I need to practice focus stacking with macro shots.
Yea i've never done that but Id say the principles are the same. :)
Never heard of this before. Thanks.
Your welcome :)

You saved my life thank you ❤
Thanks for this very helpful. Steve nz
This was very helpful. Thank you Matt.
Your welcome glad that you did.
Your technique is exceptional Matt!
Good vid Matt. I already had an orton action I created a few years ago (plus actions for blur or levels only) but I'd not thought of going the smart objects route. That's a much better way of doing it, thank you.
Thanks... yea it just allows you to go back in and do any changes without have to start from the beginning again.
Fantastic stuff, Matt. Lots to digest, a masterclass.
Thanks... once you get your workflow down and know what to do and when you can really edit quickly.
Matt is master-class in more than photography
Thank you for this. I will be sure to watch it again and definitely incorporate many of your editing processes into my own workflow. I am so pleased that I found your channel.
Thanks 🙂 glad you found it useful
How to get better at photoshop editing?? Wait for ai to take over artist job and make them go jobless
Lol yep I bet that isn’t too far away either. One click editing.
Thanks for this and I look forward to your next video when you show us the full edit. I am already looking at refining my own workflow based on this tutorial.
Great.... any small change for the better all adds up in the end. :)
You do very nice work. I've now subscribed. This video makes sense and echoes what I've recently discovered in my work. Sometimes my aha moments occur days apart and others weeks. Still, I am always making progress.
Thanks David. Yes working on your workflow is the key to getting better along with just using Photoshop and getting familiar with how it works and also how the hierarchy of layers will effect others. Were all still making progress :)
Thanks for taking the time to make this very detailed and precise video. i have been looking to up my Pano game and kinda got a bit lost in all the different possible workflows. This is a great start to finish example!
Glad you liked and got a lot out of it. Developing your workflow is key to getting better and better at Photoshop and the whole process. I just released a new tutorial on developing a post production workflow. :)
The nuances of editing that take a photo from good to great. Thanks for sharing, Matt. You’re truly skilled at your craft.
Thanks. Yea it’s a good technique. Can take a few goes to get the right colour balance you want to achieve but that’s just editing for you 🙂
Matt is very skilled at many crafts including taking advantage of decent women.
Can’t believe this was so easy to sort out. I’ve been pulling my hair out for months. Thank you so much.
Your welcome... such an annoying change hey. When I worked it out I thought I got to do a a video on this as I wont be the only person this has driven crazy.
Thank you for sharing Matt. I reckon I'll be watching this one again. 👍
It’s a great technique that’s worth the effort. Any problems or questions feel free to ask and I’ll help where I can.

Top quality tutorial. Great seeing your thorough workflow.
Thanks… telling people how to do it and then say it’s a three image stack isn’t fair without showing the edit as well and the problems. Lol
Nice one Matt. I’d never thought of using focus peaking for focus stacking and it’s a cool idea
Thanks… Yea makes it really quick and simple. Especially for shots like this. I think Nikon has this feature as well and Canon is yet to offer it in their cameras.

Excellent tutorial Matt and superb Image, it just goes to show that focus stacking isn't as simple as its made out.
Thanks David, yes it isn't as straight forward as it looks. Especially with a moving fern in each frame and even Photoshop still wanting to use a blurred depth of field image for the foreground detail. But there is always a way in Photoshop, just got to think about how to do it and take a few goes. Took me an hour of playing around to come up with that solution and it paid off. I forgot to say in the tutorial that if you can focus stack a moving fern image you can focus stack anything lol
Thank you for sharing. All ways find your vlogs useful. 👍
