This is quite interesting. I hadn't heard the name "Karg-Elert" in many years. I remember the 30 Caprices for Solo Flute from the days I studied the instrument. Listening to this video, both music and lecture, has been a delight. I particularly like the instruments mentioned: reed organ and harmonium.
This dude needs to learn to just tell a story and not preface everything he says with some hype.
The Woodstock Festival changed the music industry forever. An unforgettable weekend of peace and love and playing with our organs.
Please, what is the piece that Pam Robison is playing at 9:31?
Fascinating! Variety; ingenuity; experimentation. A confession: I like the beater tremolo, especially the Parker type.
São pra vender estes harmonios obrigado.
👍...Very enjoyable, interesting, informative and pleasing.....
This is real great. Thanks for sharing, and to get an impression of the different sessions. I would like to hear the complete presentation of Mark Herr about the Chicago Cottage Company. and great to see and hear old friends. Looking forward to more.... :-)
Wish I could give this compilation 100 likes! Very much regret not having been able to go, but this video gives more than just a taste of the Gathering. Weaver is not a very commonly seen make in the UK, but I like their unpretentiousness and the nice design and workmanship of the bits you don't see from the outside. I'm using the innards of a 2 1/2-row Weaver (case destroyed 20-odd years ago by woodworm) as the basis of a new action for the RO in a very small church near here. The quality and compactness of this Weaver top action made it the best candidate for the job. Thanks again for transporting us to this fine get-together and to all that organised it and restored and played the instruments.
Thanks Ian! I do not see the Weaver name in Canada very much either, but they did remind me of Karn. The little M&H in the video at the "singstunde" was quite different from what I was used to, only the last 2 octaves operated as the treble....
Rodney this was great! Looks like a great time was had by all.
Thank you, Rodney, for this beautiful impression.
Bravo Rodney for this compilation!
What is the piece that Pam Robison is playing at 15:50?
"Procession" by Charles Ore. It's in a collection titled "Eight" and it's #4 in the collection, published by Concordia Publishing House.
Would love to attend such a conference. Must be a wonderful experience. Warm regards from my part of the world....South Africa !
Many thanks for this video. Would dearly have loved to get to the Gathering but couldn't, so this compilation is the very next best thing. Good to see so many familiar faces too!
Very nice.
Thanks, Rodney, for putting together this excellent video. Since I couldn't attend, I especially enjoyed watching it.
Charlie and Pam really knew how to put on a great event. Wonderful memories!
I have a Packard Organ dated 1863 serial number I think this is it 33247. and it has this on it too. sw43. I was trying to look at all of your pictures I wanted to send you a picture of ours I want to see how much it was worth
Amazing performances!
Wonderful!
Very great video about this reed organ enthusiastics meeting. This way i can taste something of the wonderfull atmosphere in Woodstock. Great work form Rodney and Lori Jantzi
Would love to have attended. A good proportion of all reed organs in the UK---many still supporting Sunday worship---are Canadian. The quality of original build, restoration and tuning evident here proves that the popular image of the wheezing reed organ is thoroughly ill-deserved. Sincere thanks to players, fellow-enthusiasts from near and far,and to the organisers, especially Rodney and Lori Jantzi, for the gathering itself, and for this heartening video. Ian
This is the coolest society one could join!
haha 4:55 Transformers. Reed organs in disguise.
@ReedOrganSociety Thanks a lot for your kind answer! :)
@harmoniumbauer - Thanks so much! The piece that Pam plays at 11:35 on is: "Sortie Fanfare" by J.B. Maillochaud. Tom and Pam play Rondo, by Anton Diabelli, Arr. Thomas Gregory
Great video ! I dream to be in one of those ROS Meetings...! Rodney, do you know where is possible to get a pdf copy of that beautiful piece Pam Robinson plays ?
Wonderful! What are the pieces played at 11:36 and 12:23? Very nice! :)
What piece was Pam Robinson playing at 11:35 onwards? It was a lovely piece
What an absolutely fantasic video this was, and how I wish I could have attended. Thank you Rodney for making a video such as this available. And if Nelson Pease sees this comment, Craig wishes to say hi after so many many years. So many happy memories of those days back in the late 70's-mid 80's and of the Summer visits when Robert Whiting used to make his annual tour. I will never forget the trips to Palmer Mass and still have a very early Melodeon purchased from Nelson. Again, fantastic video
THANKS Rodney for an excellent video. How you managed to get all that great video and music amazes me. I really appreciate you efforts, especially since I was unable to attend.
Well done, Rodney: a classy presentation, as always, and just what we have come to expect from you. I just wish I could have been there to see and hear it all. From Mark in the UK.
You have put together a fantastic view of the great fun that your organization has and of the enthusiasm of the ROS members! Really, what good fun it is to see people enjoying the "care and feeding" of these marvelous instruments! Great job!
