@@JMSynthetics Great catch. I’ve never been given a direct answer, but I’m willing to bet it’s for the hinges. Clearly they make tremendously heavier doors, but when they do the hinges get significantly beefier.

@@A1LocksmithofTexas thanks for a quick reply for the extra money of the increased size, i would think a couple extra hinges or bigger hinges would do the trick or maybe both. If i could get a BF2 body with a 1/2 plate door with the bolt works from the BFX , that would be my dream setup. Something to do with the 4-way active bolts still gets me on the BF2 not having that but the still in the body is legit.

@@dudeman8323 Wow, really? I have seen the chrome plating wear after 15+ years of normal use, for sure. How old is your safe, if I may ask? It’s a chrome plating, so unfortunately no way to bring that back without send off, outside of attempting to request replacement hardware from AMSEC.

@@A1LocksmithofTexas Yeah so, mine is a Fort Knox, black chrome was awesome looking on black enamel. I don't know how thick the "Black" part of the plating was but I do know a bit about chemistry and how this works. As of this date my safe/hardware is about 15 years old but only after about a year of purchase I was cleaning it and of course did not expect the black chrome to turn into regular chrome. The safe is awesome, the handle is very obviously chrome, but also the S&G dial is showing imperfections from hand oils and can even be difficult to read the dial. My perception is the the black chrome, however good looking, is turning out to be like the "soft touch" coatings on products such as my Leica range finder which is now sticky, as in it's "value added" is short lived. I'm a printer by trade and remember the very first "soft touch" coatings for paper before they were marketed to tactile goods like computers, scopes and so on... Since chrome is porous, I was thinking the "black" property could be baked back into it through a vapor heat process... probably not for the average consumer... Thanks for the reply!

@@dudeman8323 Sadly I do see it more than not over time. Again, I’ve gotten people replacements and Fort Knox is a standup company, I bet they could help. Everything you describe is a lot like my “black” Tungsten wedding ring, it’s turn “chrome” pretty quickly. Washing my hands, oil/grease from locks & cleaning weapons, etc. Black chrome on a safe handle/lock look absolutely fantastic, but powder coating them black would last longer for sure. I appreciate your input and experience in the field! I try to only use a microfiber towel with no chemicals on my safe hardware.

@@A1LocksmithofTexas I have a Tungsten ring too... it seems to present a burning feeling when on my finger 😂 honestly my trade prevents me from wearing rings, long hair or danglies, I suppose I "could" wear it all but don't feel like being cut out of a machine if there is an accident. I live in Maryland but travel the country and picked up my safe in Cincinnati, friends in Austin, family in New Mexico and Arizona, when I'm looking for additional items I will definitely look you up simply because of your response and honesty. Great question! Most popular/name brand safe companies offer a Lifetime Warrant against Theft & Fire. What this means is when the safe is badly damaged by fire or an attempted break in they will pay a locksmith to come open the safe and they will replace the safe for life. We have personally been hired several several times to handle these claims, so it's not just words on paper, manufactures really do warranty these products.

@@TT-ch2pz They really offer a great way to store weapons. With pricing, I know they run show specials all the time and bundle deals. American made , great warranty, aluminum I think all come together to be costly to make.

@@trevorj203 They did, yes. Their policies have been rewritten requiring a subpoena specifically making Liberty safe in the document. And even with that they will contact the customer first. No safe company had any specific language like this, but I’m sure every safe company will adopt these same policies now.

A court order is significantly different than a phone call by some LT at the local PD.

@@Brennagonxavier Typically yes, but we’d have to see the lock you have now and a picture of the inside of the door. You’ll need to remove the door panel in order to do that and email us the photos. However, if the safe is one of those with an override key behind the lock then no.

@@ChrisHVACguy Floor, comes with 4 predrilled holes in the floor for anchoring. Essentially holes in the sides/back would defeat fire rating/protection because heat rises.

Hahaha, I’m a goofy gorilla🤷🏼‍♂️. I’ve not worked on or done a lot with the China Remington safes. However, there is 1 simple rule of thumb, if it comes with a key then you can’t swap it. I am not familiar with the lock I see on the Sanctuary safe in Costco’s website. However, I read the reviews and someone did mention “key override”, this typically cannot be retrofitted to a S&G 6730. That said, it’s a little more expensive, but perhaps a Browning BX 10 or the 14 size might consider consider.
