Wow, hadn't even noticed this until watching the recording. The little GBA speaker has to be a reason for the exaggerated balance. This run was with stock audio settings, but future runs will definitely be with the SFX dialed down a few notches!

Art bell did such a good job, his deadpan delivery adds a whole extra level of immersion to the whole messed up intro. I didn't know about his work until revisiting the game a little ago and doing more research on it. Had to stop and listen in the video. Lol

Agreed, I had such a hard time with the layouts of these areas since I wasn't playing with a guide. Overall awesome game, but man some of those areas ended up being a slog.

It's a cool one for sure, if you have not seen Beyond Oasis yet on the Genesis, this is a prequel to that game and also worth checking out!

If you have not tried Beyond Oasis yet, definitely start there first. I think some of the enjoyment of the game does come from seeing how much the devs could improve with the Saturn hardware.

That sounds rough, sorry you're experiencing that, it's a pretty solid port but one of those YMMV. I'm not sure on the aiming config, as I didn't have to do any calibration running the latest app version installed via sidequest. I also have not messed with the enhanced textures yet, but am interested in looking into adding them sometime in the future. Something to try, for the aiming, there my be a +cvar you can use to offset your cursor aim in the console. I don't remember seeing an option like that in the settings menus.

:3 Thanks for checking out the video! I'd love to do more of these, and I really enjoyed the perspective shift from the normal game. Being "in" the level was pretty cool, also having never done OG quake before in VR either, so this was a neat experience in its entirety. Hopefully the freecam perspective of me looking and moving around wasn't too nauseating!

Thanks! I figured you'd get a kick out of the different perspective and the different playstyle from the VR format. Got a very alien feel out of the level on first take in VR. I also didn't know what Kuolemankakku translated to at the time either. Had a blast, I'll see if I can record more of these from the rest of the map pack, but I was excited to spin the tires on yours!

This is a good question! I hadn't put a lot of thought into the layout before recording, kept it from the 1st session. To answer truthfully, it's scaled somewhat arbitrarily. I changed the viewport size in OBS for each screen, so the 4 GBA screens can fit and still be a usable size for the video. While not obscuring too much of the main video. I like the corners layout so you can follow the action a bit better per player when things drop to each player's screen. I looked at stacking the GBA screens along the side, but it's not a perfect fit with 16:9, and also harder to read/follow the action with that layout.

@@RetroGameSquad Yeah I dunno that theres an optimal method. Especially considering different games use the screens different amount. In FF:CC the screens are very menu-y. Here they are gameplay essential.
