AES 2023 Epilepsy Specialist Symposium | The Frontal Lobe: Bermuda's Triangle
The frontal lobes are the largest lobes of the human brain composing over 40% of the total cerebral cortex volume. There is a wealth of behavioral and seizure semiology symptoms that can arise from it. Simplified, the frontal lobe can be viewed as a triangular body with 3 main surfaces: medial, dorsolateral, and basal / orbito-frontal. Its size and complexity pose challenges in the diagnosis, localization, and treatment of focal epilepsies arising from this area. A forgotten, transverse triangular coronal EEG montage attempted to assess deep frontal and temporal lobe structures.
In this symposium, we address the intricacies of the frontal lobe, starting with its anatomy, aura seizure presentation, cognitive/behavioral correlates, genetics/imaging correlates, and surgical approaches

Antiseizure medications are a mainstay of epilepsy therapy. However, status epilepticus is often inadequately treated, and societal and economical constraints may pose limits on medical management. We now have more than 25 FDA-approved drugs and choosing the first or subsequent antiseizure agent or combination therapy can be a daunting task. Older agents have a long track record and are often w...

I have epilepsy. There is a difference between the previous manufacturer of my seizure medication, lamictal. Had many more side effects that the previous manufacturer did. This never occurred to me until the dizziness (which I just figured was from my hearing issues and allergies, I’ve had an increase in seizures since then also. it was brought to my attention that these may be because of a difference in manufacturing of the medicine. Didn’t even know that was a thing, but it’s well now my to be one from doctors and such. Fun stuff.

This lecture helped to get me diagnosed and treated after over 50 years of suffering simple partial seizures. I got my somewhat skeptical PCP to watch this video and he immediately got me to a neurologist where I was finally diagnosed and treated. I can't thank Dr French enough.

Our daughter has seizures that has not been able to be controlled with 6 different meds (some together others at different times) We've tried VNS for 2 years with minimal improvement. Now looking into RNS but reviews don't seem to promising online?? Would be interested in knowing more about the other forms of treatment that hasn't been approved in the US. I will say for those looking into VNS my daughter still has hoarseness when it is going off (every minute) which is hard for her to accept and understand due to her cognitive limitations

Hello I’m Darcy thistle. I was made to believe there was no cure by medical doctors, but now I believe otherwise because my son was cured from epilepsy late 2020. I came across reviews about how someone got cured of epilepsy with the help from Dr AB. At first I didn't believe because I was not so sure, but I still went ahead to give it a try. I contacted the Doctor and told him everything and he assured me that he will prepare a herbal medicine for me which I will give to my son, and few days after we had this conversation, i made an order and he prepared the medication and sent it to me. After the first month of using the herbals as instructed by the doctor, I took my son for checkup with no assurance but faith, and behold the results came and showed that he was totally free from epilepsy. If you need help with finding a cure for any ailment, you can reach out to this exceptional Doctor on E-mail: powersthathills677@gmail.com Call or WhatsApp + 1 6 0 1 2 0 7 4 5 7 4...

I was born with epilepsy and cerebral palsy. I have a twin brother, i was born first. My brother was born with no problems. I take phenytoin for my epilepsy, as a child I was on phenabarbatone, then at 14 i was put on Epilim 500mg. Which caused me to gain lots of weight. I went to live in Canada for a few years where I was taken off eperlim & switched to phenytoin. Which I still take today. As a child I had grand mal seizures, which doctors said I would grow out of. Which I did, but I now have petit mal. It' feels weird when I have it, i can hear all thats going on around me, but ppl and any noise, sound much louder, plus it feels like I'm floating on water. Before the seizure I get the smell like burnt toast. I can have a seizure at any time, night or day. Unpredictable. I feel a little confused when I come round, which lasts for a couple of minutes, then I'm back with you again. Usually a cup of tea helps me recover. I read a lot of blogs where people who shared their testimonies kept mentioning Anti-seizure Herbal medication. I searched for a website I just followed the email address of Doctor Patrick that was shared on these testimonies; I got lucky when I got a reply from Dr. Patrick. I followed his instruction, used Herbal Medicine in less than 2 months, I was already cure because of the changes I was seeing. Within a period of 5 months, I was cured totally forever. I went back to my neurologist, I was checked up and marked epilepsy free. My daughter was diagnosed with Epilepsy. The neurologist was very confident about the diagnosis based, my Daughter had an EEG (no idea if it showed anything; we were tired and may have misunderstood what he said about that). MRI was negative for problems. For the past 4 months or so, I have seen weekly occurrences, making strange faces (this involved cheek twitching and lip quivering). We did not realize it could be a serious problem until she had an obvious seizure (simple partial) last week. What is troubling about my daughter condition is that we have seen many daytime seizures, and that recently the seizures seem to cluster together. No idea if there are seizures occurring at night. We were given a prescription for Kapra, but are still weighing the risk / rewards of giving the medication to a toddler. After returning from the hospital, my daughter experienced a round a vomiting lasting from 3 AM to 11 AM, followed by additional vomiting the following morning at around 2 AM. Nothing sense then. She has not had an appetite, is drinking fine, and otherwise appears healthy. I read a lot of blogs where people who shared their testimonies kept mentioning Anti-seizure Herbal medication. I searched for a website I just followed the email address of Doctor Patrick that was shared on these testimonies; I got lucky when I got a reply from Dr. Patrick. I followed his instruction, used Herbal Medicine in less than 2 months, my daughter seizures reduced drastically. Within a period of 5 months, my daughter was cured. Orrin Devinsky fraudulently billed for 3 1/2 years after having been paid in full to an insurance he did not take at the time United Healthcare (double billing and even triple billing) for services never rendered, and billing as the doctor seen, when he was not. Go to Yelp to see a full description of his unlawful and unethical conduct, including copies of paid bills that were improperly submitted and the corresponding EOBs, including opened investigations by the insurance company United Healthcare, who pulled back money for extensive fraud, as well as documents prepared by my attorney for the state investigators regarding the extensive fraudulent practices by Orrin Devinsky, Daniel Friedman, and Siddhartha Nadkarni. The information also describes his failure to elevate serious unlawful conduct by Siddhartha Nadkarni, as the Dir of the center, both to the hospital and law enforcement, as required by state and federal law. Worse, he charged me and my insurance for a few minute conversation to make him aware of Siddhartha Nadkarni's improper care in providing undated prescriptions for controlled substance due to his erratic behavior, and inability to reach him, or rely on him to provide routine prescriptions, much less returned calls, or appointments. I also incurred significant malicious retaliation in the form of spoliation of my medical record for having appropriately elevated these serious matters to the proper authorities. Orrin Devinsky could not care less about patients or patient care. In my experience, he is an individual who is amoral, and whose motives are purely mercenary.

Ben Lee have you done anything? RNS or brain surgery. I’ve had seizures for 29 years I had the brain surgery done and less seizures but still. They told me the problem was I get them from both temporal lobes and only one side can be touched. The vns I put it but nothing,I even had it removed. I’m now thinking of RNS but not to sure. Had brain surgery once then have this thing put in, I really don’t know not even if it’ll work.
