I agree with you in terms of the manga's content, but it's classified as a seinen since it was published in the "Young Ace Up" magazine, which is a seinen magazine.

Yup! 9 books for $100 is not bad at all, especially since Viz raised their prices and other publishers charge $15 for a single volume. ID watch the anime up until it catches up to the manga just due to how well it was executed!

You're fine, and I can see your point of view. Jumpscares and gore don't really work for me either. Both have their place in the horror genre, just like Junji Ito's work. For me, horror is at its best when the tension is so tight you could cut it like a hot knife through butter. I mentioned Blood on the Tracks in the video but didn't really explain why it works for me. You might have read it, but if you haven't, then the concept is pretty much a kid who has to survive their psychotic and manipulative mother. The idea of someone who is supposed to be your protector who turns out to be a monster was a really interesting concept, even if it has been done before. The scenes with the main character and his mother are really entertaining to read, as you never know what the mom is going to do. I guess I wrote all of this to say I'm more of a psychological thriller kind of guy, lol.

@@lantztalksmanga psychological thriller is a pretty good genre. I haven't read blood on the tracks, I'm not too sure if it's one I can read just because its such a horrible real life subject the manga is touching on, and as a parent it might make me upset and angry. But I have seen good reviews for it so it must be a well written series. I found monster falls a bit into the psychological thriller catagory. That series kept me on the edge of my seat, I got to book 5 before finishing the series with the anime because I just couldn't wait to buy more haha

It's fine if you read it, so far there's no real gruesomeness
