It might just be me but I wish the hole was not right at the top edge, maybe a smaller hole is more my taste? Just that thin blade space looks off to me.

Thanks for putting this together. I am not a fan of Nano Oil, I used it for a short time when I first started making knives and found that it gummed quite badly. Same with Frog Lube. I used to keep a bottle of Tuff Glide on my work bench for lubricating parts during assembly, and found that it worked quite well. I also used to use ALG bolt grease for the inside of pivots and any high wear and tear areas. That said, most people over lubricate their knives; too much lubricant tends to attract dirt, and has the reverse effect on your knives, so lubricate a little, best when the knife is at least room temp or body temp, and then let it sit for a bit and wipe off any noticeable excess... doesn't need to be dripping in lubricant to run fast if the knife is well made.

every microtech I ever had misfired way too much! my cheap $30 lightning has never misfired on me yet. microtech isn't so-called gold standard everyone claims they are.

The first version they made of the Red-e was made with D2 steel, g10 scales and no squeak. Mine also came with 2 pocket clips that stayed firmly on anything. The action is buttery smooth, comparable to my civivi altus. Its a real shame how they are cutting corners on all their new models.

I own 10 variants of 20.5s (yeah, they’re my favorite). First, I think the concept is very cool, and I do see how it would be beneficial with certain knives...but I wouldn’t want magnets in my 20.5s. I’m not understanding the point of wanting to increase the detent on a knife that I deploy with the shark lock 95% of the time. Why would I want to Spydie flick it when the shark lock is so fidgety already? I get that it has a thumbstuds and the hole, but I almost never use them with this knife. It just seems like this would make it harder to use the shark lock tab to open, which is one of the best features of the knife imo.

Sent back the Clyde in Brass. It had ridiculous amount of blade play and lock movement. The worst GM that I had so far. Really love the design though

It bothers me I'm not gonna say it doesn't but unfortunately these day's find a company that doesn't repackage. I've learned many companies including outside the knife community does this also. Is it right NO can we stop it NO! Just do you're research is my opinion and buy the bigger deal. It's like another company I've seen some false claims from is EF best know for budget friendly knives on Amazon claiming D2 steel when it's actually been found out it's a far less quality then D2 tool steel. I wrote EF as the name because it's some long half the alphabet name. But anyone who has purchased from them I'm sure you're gonna know who it is based of my EF. I don't use those little swabs but the lube does work great and pretty much exactly as described for each version. But i agree can it be found for cheaper makes you wonder. One thing I've also learned is it's hard finding good maintenance stuff specifically for folding knives. Flitz makes some good polish but i haven't seen any oil's for pivot points etc from them. And Tuff glide is nice but again kinda expensive for such a small tube of it just like kpl oil's it's what like 13 too 15ml bottles!?! Can we buy these at another company in larger amounts? I know I'd like too know and I'm sure mant other's would also. Now yes you can use mineral oil and it's cheap but i do notice a difference from using that and using kpl original so yeah I'd rather the kpl or tuff glide etc over mineral oil. You can buy little empty bottles with needle point applicators so if we can find the same oil in these other brands for cheaper and bigger bottles we can use those needle bottles for applications. Because let's face it besides the fact that kpl oil does work well it's that needle that we all love and the ease it made for us too get the oil where we want pretty accurately.

There is the Manix2 Lightweight at 2.9 oz VS 4.9 oz. but something tells me this not all about weight! FYI I know this tip is coming way too late, but I don't think the screws are too tight. It's the thread locker. Hold a lighter under the hex bit until it is hot, then and use the bit to heat the pivot screw. Much less painful to unscrew. edit: the weights above are from the Spyderco Catalog. I would also like to cut down the spring in my Manix 2 Lightweight, but there are no screws, just rivets.

Ive hqd omega spring failure... Never had a compression lock fail.

I've been carrying a slipjoint pocket knife for just a little over fifty years. The one lub that I've used on every knife and have never had a problem is 3 n 1 oil. I think everyone is over thinking this.

Exact same problem with the pocket clip screw on my Manix 2 LW - ended up ruining the scales with the dremel...WTF Spyderco. Had to spend another $100 on aftermarket scales which infuriated me, but yeah those cobalt blue AWT scales look really sweet!

Why is there a cutaway under the pocket clip?

Spyderco all day everyday. And the para 3 LW are never center because it only has one washer one side.

The Spring didn’t Break… So next time… get yourself some Remington Oil, White Lithium Grease. Put The white lithium grease on the spring NOT VERY MUCH SPREAD IT WITH A TOOTH PICK. Even just sitting in a drawer for months Dust gets inside.

Anyone know if they have a good match for the rec exclusive avocado lightweight scales? The factory ones are pure trash and way off center so I’m thinking just change them out to something completely different.

I have one of those xtouc sx something, but mine is locked into the closed position, and you have to press the button to open it. Which u can do with the flipper tab, but the thumb studs r totally useless. Do u have any idea how to modify it to just have detent, but not lock?

Yikes man! I recently got the manix 2 cru carta and I was thinking about getting the same scales but, after watching how hard it is to take this knife apart I think I’ll pass and just get the scales for my pm2.

If you put the knife in your pocket, and when you draw it out I bet that jimpig is ment to catch on the corner of your pocket and deploy the blade. Just a thought.

Weak springs also lead to garbage lock-up as the knife breaks in with a cross-bar lock.
