I like how we’re pretending that providing bathroom facilities has any effect on Settlement Happiness…
Well, I had to try - they kept moaning about dirty fingernails! The NPC comments are feedback. So when they say they're hungry, and settlement food is sufficient, 9 times out of 10 they usually don't have any food in their own inventory. So feed them!?
@@ArkOnline2023 I remember back when the game first came out how we all used to think that adding dressers and chairs contributed to a Settlements happiness also...

Ironic about the guard rails since they seem to love standing on top of random roofs! Perhaps I should put guard rails on literally everything!
After a while you start to feel responsible for the settlers. Once you give them great defences. It's like you have to look after them and then there is less fighting and more building. or it could just be me.....428.7 hours in
Yes, once we've dressed them and given them pip-boys, fed them and armed them, and maybe make them happy, we can then march them 20 strong across the wasteland! ;-) A new faction enters the wasteland, The Settler Land Army. I'm experimenting on that very theme, right now.
I've had my settlers at Costal Cottage run up on the Gunners near that settlement and just wipe them, and the sentry bot, completely out. Fun video.

The NPC won't even step off a platform. I could not figure out why they were all huddled on it. lol Like you can step down .. Had to build them another floor.

Only issue is that it counts as stolen armor including the armor pieces so don’t jump in it infront of anyone they’ll go hostile instead use your companion to jump in with no fusion core and you’re all set But this works great on legendary brotherhood soldiers They usually carry sweet weapons so keep an eye out for them and pick pocket their guns off their person, I got a radium legendary off one of the brotherhood of steel legendaries
Damn didnt know about the companion thing, all my frames are from military check points, kinda bums me that even if its a raider, if you shoot out there fusion core and get them out and kill them its still labeled stolen... Incredible
Yeah, I noticed that. I thought the game had found a way to prevent further appropriations, but what you've said makes me think it's normal. I pacified them with the syringer and not the intimidation perk; they turned round and walked away. I then pickpocketed their Fusion core. The game must regard them as an innocent bystander, and not a prisoner, so the stuff is viewed as stolen.

I ran this mission way back in 2015-16 but didn't finish it for some unknown reason. Now I'm going to have to run it again with my present character...Thanks to you. Thanks for the refresher. If I may, I would ask you to turn up your volume on future videos. Mine was at a max and I had a hard time hearing you. Even with that handicap, I enjoyed the video.

Generally, NPC Provisioner are dressed in common garb, but my Provisioner is wearing Power armour, because during an attack on the settlement, where I had left a power suit, one of them jumped into it. You do realize that you only need to give settlers 1 stimpak and 1 explosive and they will always have those to use in battle. It's different for missile launchers and fatmans. Those require ammunition for each shot. So if you give them one of those you also need to give them another weapon and at least 1 round of ammo for it.

I give my provisioners sturdy or heavy polished metal or polymer combat armor, a well tricked out combat rifle with bayonet, a polished helmet, combat fatigues and a red bandanna. As long as you’re not near one when you’re attacked, they just keep on going.
Very nice. On this build I have equipped the settlers and the provisioners with pip boys, so they can use v.a.t.s, as well as legendary armour and big guns like the Tesla Cannon. On previous character builds, all this stuff mainly stayed in the various workshops inventories, never got used, but this way, it's all getting used.

Dosnt their fussion core run out? I kinda wanted to outfit my guards at the settlements with power armor but I didnt want them to burn up fussion cores.
No, they do not use up the cores but they will probably lose all of the armor components soon and the frame as well ... including the core. You do not want or need power armored settlers. Keep your settlement acquisition slow, your supply routes solid, your junk supply high, and have no less than 40 defense in machine gun turrets pointed at the attack points. Increase this to 60 as you can for every settlement with settlers. Zero settler settlements do not require any defense. Even in very hard mode 60 defense points in well placed turrets will defend against almost all attacks without your assistance. Weapons is another important factor. The more and better weapons you leave in the settlement storage the more they will grab and use. You can also manually arm each but this is tedious and letting them pick their weapon is better and easier even though many settlers wont bother. Manually outfitting them with non power armor is a good use of your spare armor if you want to spend the time. Don't forget to grow potatoes and corn!

@@danboltmaker5705 If they pick their weapon then they should have unlimited ammo. If you give them a weapon they MAY have unlimited ammo. Make sure they have at least a handful of ammo for the gun either way.
Settlers will steal your legendary weapons and ALL the ammo you have for it. So it is far better to pick a good weapon for them and at least 1 round of ammo for it. You don't want to be searching for that awesome weapon you left in the workshop. And you will freak out when you go to resupply your ammo and find that all 956 rounds that you left there is GONE!!! Settlers are thieves!!!!!

Going on from what Wiseman (Slog) said, about keeping the roads clear to make it safer for traders. I figured armour-plated Provisioners would spend less time sitting down (incapacitated) and more time clearing the way. And so that's the theory.
@@ArkOnline2023 they only get incapacitated if you are in the area.
Okay, thank you. I confirm your findings. But I'm not absolutely sure how the Game checks the perception / targeting range between the sole survivor and a NPC - Settler Provisioner, because I have seen them from very far away as incapacitated. But please do check out my Latest on Secrets on The Armoured Provisioner. I hope that you may find it interesting.
Why? Provisioners do not die. Also, they will leave your power armor somewhere and/or you will find them in the frame with the actual armor gone who knows where. This is a really bad idea.
Noted. So far, that has not happened, but the companions when dismissed will exit the power armour before walking back to the designated settlement, so keep an eye out for that.
@@ArkOnline2023 Companions and settlers will do whatever they feel like with your armor except your current companion and you even have to be careful even there. If your companion loves you they will often exit their armor if you sleep in a bed. If in a building and they were not in the room you will probably never see the armor again. So do not go to sleep unless your loving power armored companion is in the room with you, and even then it is safest to get them to exit their power armor before going to sleep. As noted in this video settlers will jump into power armor ... if there is a battery in it. Just remove the battery from any set you are not using to prevent this from happening.

The closest settlement is the Castle. It's very near the car park, where there are always ghouls. And the washrooms with Miralurks.

Yes, whisper works until we leave via a door, then they go hostile or run off, either way the companion usually kills them perhaps this can only be attempted alone .

Thank You, yes, I have been there in previous character builds, But You are correct. I'd forgotten about the cats, you are referring to the cats that are or were in the holding cells, that the sole survivor finds on the way to the FEV lab. I am now thinking that the institute may have used the Cats to spread the FEV virus. Or that there is some link between the ghouls, the Cats and the super mutants. I have found various unmarked location containing a cat and some ghouls. I must take Strong to Sandy Cove convalescent Home to see the cats and monitor his speech, to see if He says something about them. Thanks for that. Food for thought.
@@ArkOnline2023 I think the cats were killed by the security system cuz they were attempting to infiltrate the Institute. Think about what an oddity those cats are: there are not even any mutant cats in Fallout, and if ever a predator could adapt, it is cats. Instead, here we are with a wide cross section of unmutated house cats of various types. Have you met Ashes yet? Did you imagine the mission would be so easy or did you expect to carry him in your inventory?

I used the rug glitch to slide a nuclear generator inside the cargo containers on the trailer on the top level, But I don't think I could erect an structure.
how'd you do that?
The only effective way to get to the top, is to build a walkway. I will make video.
Scaffolds or elevators will get you there.
