Laura still has a year before she'll get to actually drive it, but she can dream.
I've a doubt that, how do you get such original prints on your zappiti. Like I know it's super hard to get such true original prints from torrents. So I guess you bought from store and later ripped to nas
y a pas mieux que un apple TV 4k + App Infuse 7 pro this just beautifull
Hold up. Did you just say your entire library is in the cloud? No local NAS? That’s a huge drop in quality. Unless. Did you buy and rip 4K blurays? Because that would be like 80 terabytes, which service offers that much storage? Or are these small compressed mp4 files decoded and stored? I wouldn’t be able to live with ripped mp4 on such a nice system. I’ll drop 5,000 on blurays before I even start looking at projectors. Size means nothing if quality is shit.
Most of my library consists of disk images of the 4k UHD Blu-ray (.ISO files) stored on a local NAS. What you are probably referring to is the library metadata, which can either be stored on the Zappiti cloud, or as I do, on my local Zappiti server I run on my PC.
Also, where is the meta data stored?? On the zappiti itself? Or do we get access to the meta data? Would be awesome to have that filed away and backed up to a separate folder.
You can only store the library metadata on the Zappiti when it is in offline mode. Most people use the Zappiti cloud to store their library data, up there is also the option to run a local server on your PC…which is what I currently do.
About to buy this. Is zappiti running android? I saw a video on Linus Tech channel saying every android tv system shipped out of China is loaded with malware to infect the network. So im actually creating a separate network just for this system and other media player systems. With all my media data backed up with read only mirror settings on the NAS. Im paying double fir storage so I have each file backup up.
What a beautiful room
Does the file explorer section have a shuffle/auto play feature for the movies?
Does it have a shuffle/auto play feature?
Why using .iso instead of .mkv ?
Thank you for doing this!
Hi, wonder if you can help . I just purchased the Zappiti reference I watched the trinnov demos, but every time I go to watch a movie it plays the trinnov demos before playing the movie . Do you know how to stop it from playing the trinnov demo ? . Thanks
Thanks for the video, you answered all my questions about the interface. My only question is about Force Awakens, why is it displaying Dolby Vision on the screen? Did it just not import properly? I thought the disc version only came in HDR10? Thanks
No one anywhere, even in reviews, and even on the Zappiti website, talks about the ripping process. I want to put my 250+ 4K blu collection onto this machine. Does it have a Blu-ray drive? Is it just a case of putting my Blu-rays into it and ripping/backing up? No one talks about this. Any clue you could give me about how this works would be hugely appreciated.
Hey Dan. No the Zappiti Reference doesn't have a disk drive to rip your disks. There are 2 options you can do to achieve this. 1) Buy the Zappiti Nas that has a disk ripper built into it. or 2) Get a UHD friendly drive and plug it into your PC and use a software like DVD fab to rip the Disk ISO file or to create an MKV Techno dad has a great video showcasing this process here! ua-cam.com/video/AqUpY78BlnQ/v-deo.html I hope this helps! 😃
I'm still holding out for PLEX to add ISO support. I want my disk Menu's / Extra's
The codec displayed on the info screen for The Force Awakens is H.264 but I'm sure it should be H.265 for the 4k version, weird.
Great room pitty you didn’t go anthem power amps also with svs put plug in the middle and put in extension mode no huge difference to standard mode
I’m quite happy with the Parasound Amp! I’ll try that out with both of my PB16 Ultras….👍
@@KCWolfPck i was in standard for ages extension mode is amazing you will have to do new arc what do you have your room gain on
Nice setup, so far as your nas setup I assume you have 1 nas dedicated to movies and the other for tv shows?
zappitty!!! ;)
Does the zappitti have movies install or u have to install them? Srry im new to this
thx for the video. Around 16:08 you said you were updating the TMDb for a show. How do you do that exactly?
Create an account and make edits. It's a community based database.,
@@KCWolfPck thx. I had no clue.
Zidoo is much faster loading
I’m buying both. I want to use them both for a couple years to see which one eats the other. That’s how I finally chose Apple TV over Roku. One software update can change the game. The hardware is also important. But User Interface is everything I just wish they had Apple TV screen savers
Your screen seems like a 16x9 screen, not 2:35:1.
Yes, as I mentioned in the video, I left the masking panels on for this video for demonstrational purposes. My follow-up video does not have the masking panels installed.
Appreciate the video. Do you mind me asking what projector you’re using? Thanks
Zappiti vs Oppo for full rip bdmv or iso playback reliability and quality?
Does the reference send out hdr metadata?
Hi have more than 2100 movies plus 311 series. All dvd bluray uhd and mkv with dolby vision support. Work all fine
Excellent video, thank you. What about the files and storage of the MKV Movies to include Dolby Vision? Do you need special folder or another format of the movie? Which folder organization do you use on the local hard drives? Thanks!!
Are they in surround or just stereo
Hey Scott, have you thought about how to backup your Zappiti drive info just in case the drive in the zappiti dies? I am thinking about getting a separate drive or NAS to backup/copy all movies to as a cold storage. Your Thoughts
How did you rip the 4k Blu Rays? Is there any technical restriction in using i.e. MKV or ISO files?
Ripping 4K disks requires a specific player and a specific firmware version.
@@KCWolfPck can you post a link? I'm thinking about getting the Reference and don't understand what I need. I've searched their site and I'm not a techie...
I just noticed when i tried to play back Avatar 3d iso file and select Yes to play with menu and I got an error stating blue ray firmware updated needed to play this disk. The file would not paly and there was blue ray error code 001 on the bottom of the screen. Is that was what you were trying to point out? Thanks PM
No. The Avatar 3D Blu-ray played just fine for me. I didn't get an error.
Hi I appreciate you sharing things about the Zappiti and I have been working on my Zappiti one 4k and I'm having a hard time figuring out the Zappiti Share to get it in other parts in your home? Can someone demonstrate a video on this?
So it has limited internal storage, which is cool, but are you also able to stream from a NAS via Ethernet connections?
Yes, I also stream from 2 NAS devices. You can play files from any SMB file share on the network. You can do it via ethernet or wireless.
what hdds are you using
Are there still playback stuttering issues for media encoded in VC-1? (Still not fixed for the previous Zappiti generation ... )
Supposed to now play fine without stuttering.
@@stevehumphries4687 Sounds good, I was never satisfied with the quality of transcoded VC-1 content, but otherwise it would noticeably stutter. Might be a reason to get a Zappiti Neo. :D
can you have photos on it as a catalog and folders?
I don't understand your question.
@@KCWolfPck regular photos, use it as digital photo album.
@@KCWolfPck and what hdds are in use
Great Review Scott! I just ordered my Reference. I have the new JVC NZ7 8k Laser Projector. Can not wait!
Hi Scott, i m about to receive reference. i m thinking of building movies library what are the sources of down load 4k and HD movies etc
Curious if you've tried to use the offline mode to see if the meta data is saved locally to the device. From what I read on the website it seemed like that was a solution, but I was wondering if some features may not be available when offline. If I purchase the Zappiti I would like to be able to take the device offline when we travel to visit family who don't have access to home internet.
While offline mode is certainly an option, there are many features you are missing when in offline mode.
zidoo z9x vs this zappiti, wich one is better for video quality? and about audio quality with the same cable hdmi wich one is better?
How in the world do we get one of these in the US?
Great Job Scott, You nailed this video. It is good to see the effort you put in to review and evaluate this product to a point were you are noticing bugs that development needs to look into and resolve. I noticed on my new Zappiti Neo how slow the UI is compared to the Zidoo Z10-Pro as well as Plex. I still have my plex server running because it services the rest of the house and friends that want to watch a movie remotely. Right now I am fixing metadata identification issues on some movies and trying to get a keyboard/mouse to work with this unit. As far as PQ/SQ and the picture wall the Zidoo does not come close so I returned it. Keep up the good work. PM
Thank you for doing this. This was good info. I'm interested in getting the Reference myself, so it's good to know what I'm getting into to. Thanks again.
I thought the newer players came with the new silver skins and rack mount kits. So far I have not seen this on the new players.
They do come with a rack mount kit. Only the Classic skin comes standard.
Okay, I just received my Neo but no rack mount kits. I reached out to support via email 3 days ago but got no reply yet. Thanks PM
@@paulmardis1512 in reviewing the user manuals for the new series, it appears that only the Reference and Signature come with rack mount kits. The rack mount kit is not listed in the manual as being included with the Neo.
It is not some movies, that the info menu is different. It is with all movies if you try to play them in full BD Menu mode. It is exactly the same behaviour on Dune HD player.
Good to know. Thanks. As I've mentioned, I don't have any previous experience with these media players and I have watched much content on this yet.
Thanks for this video. On my Zappiti Audiocom, ABC buttons are for region changing on standard Blu-rays.
Thankyou for taking the time to make this.
I'm curious....you mentioned that you used to use Plex prior to switching to Zappiti....what were your factors? I'm considering the same since the Plex dev's basically ignore feature suggestions that Plex actually needs or users have requested for literally YEARS. Only thing that I don't prefer with Zappiti is how it handles TV show episodes. Would be alot easier to scroll through episodes and see synopsis rather that drill down into an episode.
Reason I moved from Plex to Zappiti: 1) Wanted access to full BD menus, 2) Needed ability to shift subtitles up to the picture, 3) GUI in 2:35.1 mode is a big plus for me as I have a CinemaScope projection screen, 4) On board storage eliminates the need for a reliable home network. I also liked the idea of the server being in the Cloud, but Zappiti was too slow for that for now. FYI - You can scroll through the episodes of a season on the Zappiti.
@@KCWolfPck can you demonstrate how to share your content from the Zappiti share to other devices in your home
Great set up you have. Love it
This is surprisingly slower then a Zidoo Z9X and about the same speed as the previous generation Zappiti.
