CHILI BOWL PRACTICE DAY
Welcome back. First race of the season is here and we are excited to escape the cold weather back home. As you can see we are leaving a snow storm and headed South to Tulsa. The way down was icy and a little sketchy.
After making it to Tulsa we get loaded in the Expo Center and ready to fire off our Mopar King Chassis.
It's shaping up to be a great year. Thank you to all involved in my program and my journey.

Here we go folks. We are back in action and ready to start the new year. 2025 season is underway and like that Mother Nature does not want to play nice. Take some time with me as we fight the snow to try and get this Chili Bowl Midget loaded and ready to hit the road to Tulsa.

2025 season is in full swing and here we go again for another year of Who knows what. In this video I will take you through the trials of trying to get my midget pushed off and fired. With some of what I think is fuel issues we will see what the next step is. Hoping to have this resolved early this week that way we can carry on with preparations.

Super good-looking, fast looking car!! Get up on that wheel Kyle!!
Thanks buddy.
I would love to see more of the dhop videos and just the regular maintenence stuff you do on the midget. Or any of the cars for that matter.
Its my dream and goal to be in one someday! You got a new follower. Was watching chili bowl videos and came across your page. Good luck out there this week!
Good Luck at the Chili Bowl! We will be cheering for you here in Chicago. Can you speak to how a Chili Bowl car is different than a car you might run at a USAC show? I have heard you need to basically build a special car for that show.
Thank you. Long ago guys could build a light weight car. Although now there is no weight rule you do have to run certain wall tubing to fall into the rules. So an outdoor car and indoor car now follows the same tubing requiremnts. For the Chili Bowl you can run a 10" wide LR vx an 8" and a 12" wide RR vs a 10". That and no weight but thats all the difference now.
Best of Luck Kyle, hopefully you'll have a decent track and get in the top in timing and just let er eat man I'll be pulling for ya from the easy chair in central Illinois.
Going bowling for chili 🏁🤙 hold the soup. Hammer down
You butter learn them dynamic
Safe travels brother good luck
Never knew that Midgets were so touchy to work on! Anyway, best of luck at the Chili Bowl!
Car looks awesome. Good luck man.

Awesome buddy enjoy b safe have fun
Best of luck in 2025 from a old Formula Vee and Formula Ford road racer! I wanted to do dirt racing with a Midget but my wife (ex wife now) told me I was too old (26) for that. I hope to get out and watch you race so good luck!
Never too old! Been down that road as well. Wishing you better days thank you!
Looks like a very tight track with no or very little banking. Good luck on the 2025 season!
@@wilmertsch you are correct! Thank you
We all know that right side is not going to make it long. I wouldn't change it.

Solid weekend. Congrats.
Dude you had a Hotrod all weekend.. cheers
Thank you! Thanks for watching.
Very good video. Good run too. I’m so glad all the mod sanctions raced together.
Jerry was a top mod driver back in the day. Dirtworks mod at the supernationals
Very nice race, getting First on two heat races. Keep your motor warm, maybe get those tire warmers that the F1 guys have (kidding.)
Good luck have a good race!
First time watching your channel. Just subscribed. Looking forward to seeing more content.
@@jimbobinman thank you! A lot of new ideas coming for 25 season.
From the stands it looked like it was a struggle to get heat into the tires.
@@LorenzoBandini track was slick early
I love USAC and particularly love the Silver Crown cars. I think it takes so much courage to go racing on this level because of the time and financial commitment. Thank you for opening up that window to us. I would love to hear more about the financial side of things. Not that I think racing like this is in any way a way to get rich… in fact I know it is the opposite. I think it would be interesting to fans to understand the level of financial commitment it takes. And more tech please! Explain it to us the way you would want it explained to you. Look forward to seeing you race in Indy this weekend.
Thanks for the update and look forward to seeing you race in Indianapolis.
@@LorenzoBandini no problem!
Nice.
We sure miss racing at the horse barn! Wish they would bring it back!
I for sure agree on that!

Keep the faith!
Love the videos. The engine maintenance and cold fire up was awsum!! How about a video on basic chassis set ups and how to tune for different track conditions??
Missouri? Awe man. Unsubscribed. Just playing.
Only 15 more to 1,000! I am #985. Keep digging, enjoying these videos.
@@ToddSaw thank you!
I love these finese races where everybody is tiptoeing around the track. Seems like silver crown does them better than anybody. You mentioned burning up a clutch. Whats current arrangement of clutch/starter/battery? And you mentioned a spotter, so they must be using radios now.
@@ronfox5519 that was last year in my dirt car before we took the green. I had to transfer through the B main. I ended up p2 at the line to Jerry Coons. We are getting there
Silver crown mandates spotters, especially for some of the Mile or bigger tracks we go to. We use a from mount starter, like an airplane starter and we use a series battery setup with a starter kart to start the car. Some guys use an onboard starter but I am against those because they can fail you before startup and cost you valuable spots in qualifying. I'll make a video about that down the road.
@@kylesteffens8 Interesting. Thanks for the response.
We need a voice over for our trailer loading that day lol
@@aaronhpaule3275 lord
So these cars are running dirt and asphalt?
Yes silver crown cars race dirt and pavement on a 12-14 national Race schedule. We have a different car for each surface.
yes usac car's will run dirt or asphalt
🤘🤘🤘
@@BrettMiller14 thanks for the camera!
Since Eldora is the only significantly banked dirt track compared to the miles, did you swap torsion bar weights? Or do you keep them the same for all dirt tracks?
@@joewirth3467 this is info I cannot share on the internet lol! The answer is yes we make changes.
@@kylesteffens8 It's actually probably best is you share your entire setup sheet here so the internet folks can tell you what you're doing wrong haha
@@joewirth3467 Let me get the excell spread sheet out ill be back shortly!
I’ve heard that Tung oil with a little heat works better than linseed oil because it creates an extra polymer or something. Never tried it though.
Never heard of that. Probably the last bare frame car I will ever have to be honest Next one will either be clear coated or black.
the amount of trophy's in that shop is insane!
Many years of racing.
