Приєднався 14 вер 2020
What happens in an enormous forest in the heart of Los Angeles County? Our docuseries shows you the age old tug of war between civilization and Mother Nature in Angeles National Forest
Loop Fire: 58th Anniversary
Today, we commemorate the victims and survivors of the Loop Fire. Its echoes can still be heard today through reformed policies and the Angeles National Forest's annual "staff ride," where survivors share lessons with the current fire staff.

New micro-doc showing @SEBLASD and ANF responding to a motorcycle accident at Mt. Waterman on Saturday. The rider was alive and in shock, and was transported to the hospital. Full story below. I crossed paths with two clearly worried people Saturday afternoon at the Chilao Visitor Center parking lot. "Is there anyone inside?", "yes, there are people inside", and off they went. A minute later Ne...

Now it’s been 58 years, RIP to the 12 young men who sacrificed their lives fighting the Loop Fire 🌲🔥🙏 , one of the deadliest in the Angeles. Thanks for the video Mark
Unsung heroes, their sacrifice saved future lives ❤ God Bless them all ❤
Thank God, we have people who willing to risk Their Lives to fight these fires😅😅😅 fight
Cheers to that! They’re certainly working hard this fire season 😬 -Mark
This is so sad....we can do better.
O have photos and training g manuals love to meet up and discuss stuff .
Please get in touch with me! mark@landmark717.com
I was a hot shot for a short time on the Angeles and an engine crew person. Bear divide hot shots also worked at valyermo mill creek and Monte Christo stations as an engine crew person. Great job
Thank you for your service. Hotshots work hard!
These are engine pups... not one single hotshot, 2 different things
Correct. Referred to them as an Engine Crew only
Indian Canyon?
If memory serves me correctly, nobody guessed this one correctly, UNTIL NOW. That is some expert ANF knowledge there!
I've been there so that helps and the approach road through the canyon is pretty distinctive for such topography!@@Landmark717
The legend has returned!
Yes please! 🌲

Great stuff man, truly. Awesome insight, a great day-in-the-life, and beautiful shooting. Can't wait to watch more!
Thank you very much!
Solid documentary. Well done, clear and informative. Thanks Sadly the '21 fire season saw the Dixie Fire, Caldor Fire, McFarland Fire and others just run amok in California. This year is a slower start due to snow pack and the intense winter rains along with initially cooler temps overall. But the wildfires are coming.
My pleasure! Indeed 2021 turned out to be an interested fire season, and now in 2023 with all of this growth that is lovely and green now, we shall see what happens… We have “Fire Year (Part 2)” in the works now, BTW! - Mark
@@Landmark717 Agreed on the nice growth and green. I work wildfire support (in base camp) and we're all thinking the same thing - when this green gets hit with the heat and high winds it'll be dead and prime fuel. We're all just kind of "hurry up and waiting" right now..... waiting for the shoe to drop. New Mexico got pounded last year with multiple large fires. "We shall see what happens" as you stated so well. Best of luck with Part II - looking forward to it. Be well - and Be Safe
Somewhere near Hidden Springs??
Nice vid
Thank you very much! -Mark
Why do they wear the backpacks so Low?
So they can bend over and swing tools with out the pack hurting their back.
you won't find an overweight member on any wildland crew. They are truly athletes.
..
Awesome footage!
Great content. Very well made documentary!
There was so much to see at this event, yet you could only produce 2:13 of video! You didn’t really make much effort here.
Hi there 👋 Our series is about a specific National Forest and I was there only to bank some b-roll of three specific helicopters that serve it. Everything else is just bonus I figured I’d share. Will make more of an effort next year, definitely a lot to see and capture there! -Mark
Pretty cool!! Thanks to our heroes!!
Agreed! Super cool, free annual event
@@Landmark717 I didn’t know it was free, thx for the video!
My pleasure, and as always a pleasure running into you! -Mark
Oh and also i was expecting to see a documentary like this, thx
Your feedback is very welcomed and I hope you enjoyed it! Thank you -Mark
Ur very welcome!! Dunno if u saw my other comment or not, since my other device doesn’t show it, sometimes comments don’t appear on other devices.😅
Thx for this video! That’s 👍! Angeles hopefully does more of these prescribed burns and also thinning! Thx for info
you wont know that this would be hours before the east fire started
The time has come lets see what this brings us? 🤔
Good thing that he survived that horrific motorcycle accident and I like the music too
I think this is in the Sierra Pelona range but I honestly don’t recognize the spot
No
I own property in the ANF and fire is a major concern. During the Bobcat fire I installed 3 fire pumps and reconfigured my water storage system oriented to fire fighting rather than residential use. But I can not depend solely on that. I do brush clearing every year. In fact, depending on the rain, I sometimes need to do it twice a year. I’m not complaining, that’s just the way it is. Yes, it is time that we manage our forest based on the lessons we have learned in the past.
Sounds like you’re doing all of the right things! Defensible Space came up a lot during this series’ interviews and has become quite a hot topic since. Will be checking out your UA-cam channel! -Mark
I am trying to preserve the Monte Cristo Mine. Let me know if you would like to visit.
@@thisoldminewithlars5324 it should be a tourist attraction imagine lol
@@Seabass3920 unfortunately it would be a 1.5 mile hike in. The dirt road is not maintained for public use.
@@thisoldminewithlars5324 Yea I wish lol, and how often do u go there
Ima call cops on you
So you started the fire
… 🤐
Lol
this is REALLY LASD spec
Yeah, I agree with this statement from nidotsmota.
Must be slow on the take today! Would you expand on that thought? -Mark
@@Landmark717 I am saying that this is real good footage, awesome work by the LASD (ESD I'm presuming). Upload more of these!
Gotcha! They are great at what they do. We have a collaboration coming together now so hope to have more soon. Thank you -Mark
Excellent video! You've got some great production quality. I especially noticed the excellent timelaspes.
Thank you, Brian! I love doing the timelapses :) -Mark
You got to turn these in to longer videos. I would watch some more about SAR in the Angeles
That is good to know! I absolutely plan to cover SAR in The Angeles in greater depth. It’s a marvel of coordination powered by marvelous people -Mark
@@Landmark717 Yeah, I love the scanner traffic in your videos it just brings it together
Bolsonaro of Brazil is to blame.
Please, don't blame Russians for that 😅
Thanks for this good info.Hope all is well🌟
Slugs, hope you see the real groundpounders. The real firefighters
From what I’ve seen the engine guys in the Angeles are actually in pretty good shape
Yes Gerald, just search for Route Fire and you'll see these pretend firefighters saving "real firefighters", just a month after this video was taken. Clown.
Lol groundpounders. Did 5 years with valyermo IHC on saw team. Some of these engine guys are way better than the guys I've worked with
Did anyone fire smart.? 2021 winter ham.?
I've ran that trail as a hotshot in 2012. There is a sign at the top that holds the record times to the top. Fires down there are crazy
Can I wear NIcks tanker boots for wildland firefighting ? If they are strap boot with red x lug sole ?
No... 8 inches tall, leather and lace up
@@justinp8271 thanks
@@justinp8271 thanks for the great information
The ride along curse.
I’m afraid so! 🙃
@@Landmark717 there’s another one known as Paramedic Intern Withdrawal. When your intern completes their 20 shifts with you and your partner, you have to start writing your own prehospital patient reports again!
What were the captains names if you remember?
Beautiful!!
Thanks for these videos you do finally somebody talks about and said the truth about our LA beatiful forest.. is sad now to see what left the bodcat fire. Will we never in our life going to see the greenish mountains like we used to. lets take care of what we have now. and thanks for your videos. I really appreciate it. I have lots of things to said about the management in san gabriel mountains. They need to pick up the paste.. thanks again for your vid
I very much enjoyed this video. I appreciate the practical comments of Corina Roberts and Malcolm North. ANF Fire Chief Robert Garcia is a proven fire warrior. Best of the best. Thank you. John R. Hawkins
Hi John, thanks so much! They each brought so much to the table and are fascinating, truly invested individuals -Mark
