He's buff, so he'll do well against grappling.... dude, if you don't know how to defend takedowns, if you're not a pro wrestler and know how to position yourself, your muscles and strength don't mean jack. Wrestling is about leverage, shifting weight, using your opponent's weight against him. If DDP doesn't have a very good takedown defense, he'll be absolutely exhausted.

I agree that if both DDP and Strickland get past the first round, they have a good chance to win. Based on his old performances Khamzat slows down a lot during the later rounds. However, he has changed his training, trains at high altitude, he has different coaches for different disciplines and I think we have yet to see what he is capable of. The main question is do DDP and Strickland have wrestling conditioning? I’m talking about the Dagestani level of wrestling. I don’t think they do, I believe their chance of surviving first round is less than 50%. Even without the broken jaw, Whittaker looked exhausted after the wrestling ride, was having a hard time catching his breath on the ground, Khamzat would have won via ground & pound as Whittaker was definitely not getting up after the body lock with Khamzat on top. All I’m saying is, ruling Khamzat out after round 1 is a big mistake.

I know Islam has better tools than khabib, like striking and stand up. Khabib has better wrestling and fighting IQ. He literally is coaching Islam and telling him how to end fights. Khabib is a more dominant fighter and doesn’t take the same amount of damage that Islam takes in fights that khabib done with ease. Khabib wins.

i'd say islam is more well-rounded but i still think khabib would win. khabib is stronger, has slightly better conditioning, better iq and is more collected and calm than islam, which would also makes him save more energy. he has an excellent notion of how to make the people play his game, progressively pressuring and making them back up to put them against the fence. i think islam would give him problems in the first round (maybe the second) with his movement and striking. but from that on, khabib would apply his game more efficiently. i think neither one would be able to finish each other but i'd see khabib landing some strikes with islam cornered, holding him against the fence, applying pressure, maybe taking him down a couple of times and getting a decision win.
