@North_Kiteboarding Orbit 10m in around 15-20kn of wind with a twin tip Atmos. gentle conditions for practicing the #backroll #kiteloop. I am around 85kg at this time with full winter gear so probably around 90kg. #kitesurfing

North Reach 17m - Dec 2022 light wind session
Good job, what do you weigh, mate?
I weigh 88kg before gear. So more like 95kg with wetsuit and harness I recon
This is light wind for that kite with my weight. To take crashes obviously
You must be little. I’m on a 12 in 20 knots.
Actually no. I'm 6'1 weigh 88kg. It's a 2021 kite so newer but in 25 odd kn I can practice without major injury on it.
Still also jump around 4-9m with it
Kitelooping to the beach... Ok
Why not?)
@@danilabagrov7151 because every time after the kiteloop you speed up 50+ km/h with a free fall and when a gust catches you in the wrong moment don't have any margin whatsoever. Imagine a line breaks when you just got yanked at 10m high. Horizontal acceleration + free fall = you crash onto the beach / into flat water with 70 km/h. If everything goes wrong. Doesn't have to happen. It can. So you really need balls, skill, experience and recklessness for that 😂 I'm a bit new to higher kiteloops and every time I'm really excited and scared when i speed up through the free fall. Just how fast you approach the water... It's just unreal
you are brave to train loops at the beach 🤣 i've broken the ribs doing the same in shallow water. and it was no pain in the video, just reasonable slides, we need the second part :)))))
Hahah this was a sweet session, no injuries, just sore old knees from years of abuse
Jump, steer kite and steer it back to 12 o clock and maybe even a bit further back before sheeting out ( maybe only half bar way) I forgot to say
don't see the height with this angle, but the jump should be a bit higher then, 5-6 meters at least to get a good stable catch. and don't oversteer the kite, it is important to jump before 12, so the loop will be at a proper place in a wind window 🤙
I'm only about 4 to 7m in these jumps, that's why a few don't get me I think. I think i oversteer quite a bit so thats a good call. All good practice, appreciate the feedback
Hey man, good how you sheet out the bar when looping. But also do it with regular heliloops! Jump, steer the kite to one direction and then sheet out the bar. Wait until you feel the kite is behind you and then sheet in and steer the heliloop. You can then also do it with just one hand. Works every time. And it’s how you do it. Enjoy and thank me later ;)
@@lucaswertheim8125 thx, I am holding it in on helis atm so that's super helpful. Thx
I wouldn’t try this at such shallow water bro. I got a cominutive fracture of radio, end up with 2 plates in the wrist and it was a simple 2m jump in 20 knots. 6 months without kiting with the risk of having limited movements of my wrist. Luckly everything was fine and I’m back. New tricks, go at least 2 m deep water.
Usually 1m is enough for most crashes
@@igorrossib no way!
yeah, 1m is enough, but try to fall like a star. it is not that far away from the beach :) 1m is a rule for the staff you are not 100% sure
Too many video transitions in that
Is that real 20knts of wind? For me it's more than that😅
Maybe a touch more but I struggle with jump height even in high winds atm
Nice loops buddy! What spot is this?
:) if I said it I would get bashed. Let's say it's in the United Kingdom, to the south end
@@kitedrifter alright then keep your secrets ;)
Nice, I am considering a 7 to practise loops too and for stronger windw. I have the 9m already. How much wind do you think the 7 needs to be fun? I was considering 8 as well but not sure it will be small enough for up to 40 knots at 70kg weight
7 for 30 knots and up
I weigh 86kg and my 7m orbit needs 20kn at the low end to allow me to backroll kiteloop. Anything under that I can't jump over 6m and I need that to loop confidently.
How it works Reach with Overdrive bar?
This is the trimlight bar. Works well in lighter winds as its 60 cm. Good with the 12 in light and the 17m it's a cheap solid option when I don't need the full performance of my North Navigator bar at the peak of the kites windrange
😊😊😅😊 XX XX
Hey mate, you recommended the 17M Reach? Im 95KG and looking for a LW kite
I weigh 83-86 depending on the week. In this, I was 86kgs and with the gear probably mid 90's. I like to be decently powered, and the 17m reach is light also. Tried a whole bunch of light wind kites. My two favourites are the RRD passion 17m and this North Reach 17m. Both are incredible for standard materials. I have not tried the d lab kites as the prices are insane at the moment, but that would be the only ones I haven't.
Also, with these, I can hold down 15kn at the top end comfortably and 8kn with a large size board at the low end. That makes a lot of days where I am just about the only guy out. I can jump this kite to 7m in the top of the wind range, but it won't go over that.
Thanks for the reply mate, thats awesome. You are one of the only dudes with content on the 17m specifically. I reckon I will be pushing over 100KG with gear (I ride boots too), so will see what range I can get out of it. Hopefully will be able to push the top end a little further. 👍
Nice spot! How many knots?
This is Altona in Melbourne Aus. Incredible flat water spot on the right tide. This was about 8-13kn. I can hold the 17m in 15kn at a push, but it's uncomfortable over that
Why you send your kite to 10-11 before looping?
I had been doing a lot of Sent jumps to get to here, and that one was more muscle memory to be honest. I probably should have held it, then looped, not sent it but that's learning for ya
What's your hight and weight?
I am 85kg and 6'1 I can ride a 7m in up to about 45kn
@@jjjay1977 Ok great! I always wanted to do some looptraining in 20-22kn with a 7, but wasn't sure if that would work. Nice to see that that works for you. I weigh 80kg so should also work for me! I have a 2020 North Orbit, same as your 8m 🙂
You should be fine with this and not too much pain from all the falls 😀
When you learn loops its better to have a smaller kite and not be so powered. When you get better then you can do it in stronger wind as you will know the timing to pull it and better steering control to downloop on your way down.
A 7 in 20 knots is not powered at all😅😅
Hahaha your right it's very underpowered Nd so we're the crashes :)
Why 7 in 20 knots? :)
Should have had my 9m in this but couldn't handle the pain after the previous few days.
@@kitedrifter Ahhh, not that a 7 is bad but tought you need to work a little bit harder then a 9 :)
@@jorgenschippers7518 my 7m Orbit is just so much easier to Loop and more responsive. Also at that size you can loop in nothing. 9m is a crazyfly and it is not as responsive. there this short delay on the crazyfly so it takes a few tumbles normally for me to get the timing 😁
@@kitedrifter did you fell some flattering during loop or vibrations
@vincentbringer2569 no, not in this wind with a kite that small. I don't tend to have fluttering on my Orbit kites, particularly in high wind. My Crazyfly did flutter a lot, particularly as the loop came up at the end if the wind was a bit gusty.
Nice man. How it works the north navigator bar with the Hyper? I'm an happy Hyper owner but don't like the CF bar safety line.
Works well for me no complaints especially when heavily powered. Like the north bar and its not crazy expensive either
@@jjjay1977 Thank you! I will take it. See you on the water 👍.
