beautiful.
This is pure garbage. Music is not racist, has not been racist. This "anti-racist" attitude is what is not only racist, but money-grabbing power-grabbing cultural destruction. Shame on people who take advantage of politics to advance themselves over all others. Music is about art, and talent, period. Black people have not been disadvantaged for many decades. In fact, they get more support than anyone else! Making classical music about politics and a social agenda is the way to destroy it as an art. If you couldn't make it on talent, then step back and let those who can do so. Poverty is the only barrier, and poverty knows no color. It costs money to make recordings, not race. Careers are mostly made by spending money. The American Harp Society has never been racist! But now, mediocrity is rising to the top. And greed. What there is, is plenty of sexism, gender discrimination, and all against MALE HARPISTS! And, the AHS discriminates against American harpists when they program national conferences, always bringing in a mediocre European or Asian harpist. There's nothing "un-welcoming" about performing spaces. It's just another false argument that doesn't need any solution. Hunter College never had a full-time salaried harp teacher before, this appointment was purely political. At least Ann Hobson Pilot earned her position and success the hard way. By playing well enough. And she is guilty of her own racism.
The AHS strives to promote a welcoming environment for all of our members. If you would like to discuss further, please email us at idea@harpsociety.org. By participating on branded AHS social platforms you agree that you have read, understood, and will follow the rules and guidelines set forth below and agree to: ● Maintain positive conversations online by refraining from posting personal advertisements, for-profit advertisements, or spam ● Conduct conversation with respect for multiple perspectives ● Do not post defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials
Harp music is so helpful to me for sleeping. Helps mask tinnitus well.
