They're doomed. Geely is already shipping a VERY similar shooting brake (aero 5-door wagon) design with superior aesthetics - the Zeekr 001 FR (AWD, 1265hp) - costing US$46k, about 1/6 of the price of an FF91. Biden recently slapped Chinese EVs with a 102% tariff, but Geely & other big Chinese manufacturers can set up final assembly in maquiladora (maybe Juárez) and skirt that in a few months.

I can see how this innovation can enhance the efficiency of the electric drive train, but we've also been hearing about this for over a decade. Now that GM has realized how valuable it could be to them as a manufacturer, hopefully they will get the advancement moving 😮

I just don't understand why they don't just build an electric transmission with several lines of windings on the disk of that engine Since it gets bigger the further you go to the edge of the disk, a bigger transformation ratio can be archived. It's basically just a matter of how many windings you put further to the edge or the center

Ev charging in Hungary prices are on average between 250-400 HUF per KwH. Now if i‘d charge a 82.5 kwh car fully (BYD Seal AWD) it will cost me between 20k HUF - 33k HUF for a full charge and the car lasts for about 500km. That’s crazy expensive compared to my petrol car. Full tank for my car is 24k Huf and i can drive 750km on a single tank with average speed of 110km/h. 😂 EV: pay more and drive less KM. Petrol: Pay less and drive more KM. 😂 So in what ways is a EV better?

I see only about a 50-50 chance this car will ever be built! Right now the oil companies and their supporters and others who are anti EV are winning the battle against EVs. Also, dealers have figured that they will lose millions on EVs as they take so little care and maintenance.

Let's crush some numbers: to charge one 70KWh battery in 15 minutes, you need a power of 280 KWh. Now if you have a charging station for 10 cars it means 2.8 GWh. The average consumption of one house (no peak, average) is circa 1KWh so it means that this station will take enough energy to supply a small town of 2800 houses in average consumption or 580 houses in full power consumption (5 KWh). Continue dreaming folks!

I think the DM-i 5.0 technology is the best of both world (EV and Hybrid) but it would be more interesting to improve it for better power management efficiency translated in extended range and less time for recharge.
