How can they sit there?!!! Why aren't they dancing!
Yes!! Colin Dewar and his "Special Requests CD's." Have got an Outside Broadcast of them, recorded in this series.(think round 1996,must check it out)arranged by Take The Floor.Available on the HRM Label(ordered from William Crawford).Great band and great repertoire. And other YT video's by this outstanding band.Such as A Reel selection under the headingtitle "Highland Rambler."Can recommend this to have a listen.Played here 4 tunes, twice. And the 4th tune I'd like to learn the name of it.This is one of the tunes, for times on end locked up in the cupboard, round the Milennium Period, but I remember this tune, played in the late 50's. The Question rises....WHY at that time so many authentic tunes hidden away? (BBC.....promoting their "Celtic Confectionaries,as called in initiated circles...???)Well.......
Addition....And BBC wanted to get RID OF the accordion.Supposed this also being known to YOU,Elizabeth and Frank!!!!!! However....seemingly....BBC have lost the"battle".And.....about the MURDER of Th BBC Scottish Variety Orchestra(operating 1949 until mid60s leader Dennis McConnel, conductor Jack Leon, having arranged lots of authentic tunes from composers, such as N.Gow.)..same story! Frank(and Elizabeth) ...reading this..there MUST be ring a bell in you!!
One of Shand's best tunes for me(maybe THE BEST) is "Jimmy Shand's Compliments To Harry Lawson" A march..And another one is the 6/8 John Mearns Favourite.First tune never recorded, later first on a CD with Shand tunes only. The 6/8 is the first track on ShandsParlophone EMI LP "Guid Luck Go Wi'Ye"..being familiar to you.The opening jig is "Miss Bennet's Jig.
Fantastic and the timing perfect on each note
Jacky , great music it reflects your nature your very good and the way you play you and your music is great to listen to and watch you yer great.

Like that first tune, i’ve written him oot ! A great band 👍👍👍👍👍

Well played.Good "current"material, such as the intro tune,of which I even remember the title. It's Braemar Highlanders
This is a Great Tune and so well performed, Its well worth a Big thumbs up, Well Done. Best Regards. 🪗🪗🪗 Mick.
Interesting set - well played.
Great sets well played.

Nice collection.About time to dive into the Scottish and Irish Scene and notice what they have in common. Will be amazing, albeit at times under different tune titles.
This is just such a terrific sound. So beautifully played by Frank and the band. 👏👏👏👏👏
Interesting material. Some of the tunes being familiar to me,but not all And.........finally,at last....a double bass after so long. You can count the number of them today on one hand....Brian Cruickshank,Stan Saunders,John Sinton and .......? Yeah...portable keyboard is more comfy. But I prefer the "box".My own box is leaking in the bass end.Clothing has worked loose. Big problem, where to get another instrument today other than payment in bar??? We'll fall on hard times!
Well played.Hahaha....FAROES!!!! There's been a hit of it in the 50s,played by strings..... Gardebylaten or Gaberbylaten.
In my 50 years of listening to SDM I ONCE heard this tune. Not specific Scottish, but part of the compositions of the surrounding folks round the North Sea.And..we All belong to them.Well?!
I've never heard these tunes before, but Frank makes them sound so good!!
A lovely tune Beautifully played by Frank.
Great to listen to Frank .Thanks for posting Elizabeth
