Historic Cooking at Pottsgrove Manor - 18th Century Pea Soup
The scissors are so interesting im canadien and have an exact same modern pair that I don’t know where I got them. Such a cool if it ain’t broke moment. Definitely switching it into my portable sewing kit
Looks a lot like my Springfield pump organ. Fantastic. What year is your pump organ.

Thank you, I found this very interesting. I am looking to make my own sewing kit and never knew about the military history of them.
Just found out this is my great great great great great great great grandfather's mansion!

Thank you for this video. I also collect WW2 and Korean War paraphernalia and it was very informative to see yours as you have obviously spent quite some time in this hobby.
Can you put a price on having the time of your life?
western culturre is so interesting
I need to know who else is here because of Christine from ATWWD 😅
Very interesting and well-done.
Wow where can I get a hoop & stick that looks fun
Gary Indiana Indianapolis 500 glass Indiana glass
Very interesting
I had to put closed captions on in order to know what you were saying while sitting in the parlor. Other than that, very interesting info.
I’ve begun what is called slow stitching. However, it is simply embroidery. As I sit down to do sewing, I realize-- I do need a needle holder. Then I see your site. Thank you so much.
Please work on the audio. Your voice echoed when you were sitting on the window seat. This made it difficult to follow what you have to say. Excited to learn more about this topic
Our military carries little sewing kits. Those treasures that you have I would love to have one. My uncle was killed in Belgium during WW2. It devastated my father's family. We as the next generation have felt it greatly. He was only 20 years old, just turned, newly married before he left for basic training, and only lived 2 or 3 months after joining. I wonder about those cousins whom my siblings and I and my other cousins never had the opportunity to meet and know. Your sharing about this just brought these thoughts to mind. I served for 23 years and to have one of the housewives used by our former soldiers would be so treasured.❤🥲
Good information. Unfortunately, the music is too loud and drowns out the excellent information you're conveying.
Fantastic video as I was at a military collectable show and had my choice of 4 Canadian tri-fold housewives. I paid $10 but now wish I took one seller up on the offer of all 3 for $25. I picked the tan one that looked unused; it has original buttons, and maybe original safety pins/needles. I put these contents aside and instead I am putting in the contents of our 80's housewife as I plan to carry this as a useable kit. So going down: threads/darning yarn***needles/safety pins/thimble/threader/buttons***modern sticky patches/screen repair/small length of wire. I may even add in a war nickel after watching this video. I also own a German 2 pocket kit that had some contents and I added more of the carded darning yarn that is from German military (The same yarn in my Canadian kit).
Not once do you say where this is!!! 😮
Upper Schuylkill Valley Park is located in Royersford, PA.
Large lower area is not for pan storage it’s for cooling the bake goods
Is that why I have seen some with an oven shelf type ?
@@char-knee496 yes
What’d he say? 😳
Thank you! I needed this video! 😊
The echo drowsed what you are saying
Love historic recipes while living history made
My name is Brandon Potts I would like to know if you have possibly any information regarding family history as I am interested and don't have much info about it myself
Hello! There are a couple Potts family genealogy resources you can find on our website (www.montgomerycountypa.gov/930/Pottsgrove-Manor). We do joke that the Potts family is always trying to confuse you as similarly named individuals appear frequently but are not directly related. Good luck and enjoy the research journey!
wow that looks a lot like mine with some minor differences, like i only have the 1 sifter and yours is in much better shape.
Great presentation! Somehow, I never thought about soldiers washing or brushing their teeth...duh.
Still have never found any information on the very very small stone . Go behind the house into the new parking lot go into the field and find the storm run off to the right and right in the middle of the path
At the 7.27 min mark.. right at your feet in that brush is a headstone with nothing on it
My back yard .. literally.. so haunted... like so so haunted
So THAT is how you use those! I've seen them in photos.
playing this at bachelorette party!!!!😍
Very interesting history, thank you for sharing.
why do u use backhand. use forehand
forehand not invented till 19th century
are you serious? I cant believe this lollllllllll @@gb.510
So I just got a ww2 us hard shell sowing kit and it’s marked on the back l.f kholer and I’m trying to figure out more about it
Thanks for reaching out! It's hard to identify without seeing it (if you want to send us photos you can at pottsgrovemanor@montgomerycountypa.gov) but if it looks like it is hand written on the back it's possibly the soldier's name. If it looks like it was printed/stamped it could be from the Kohler company--same one as the plumbing fixture company today--as they took on a wide variety of government contracts during the war years.
I don't know what else you could ask for
who needs Halo when you got the original right here
U r so beautiful
The heart cake looks very cute!♥️ Lovey video and I hope you get more sub! Please keep it up 😊
How many caps would a working woman own?
What a great question that sadly does not have a simple answer! It's probably more than we think, but we cannot say for certain. There are some household clothing inventories that have 12-20 shirts/shifts, which are you 18th century underwear, and just as many stockings. So it would not be unreasonable to say possibly over 10 caps.
I would never have guessed that many! Thanks 😊
So cool ;;keep going;I'm New in your channel ;
Very informative and helpful video! Thank you! 👍
that’s awesome
Ive been playing the "go ahead" drinking game, 21 drinks and I'm starting to feel rather ill.
🤗🍀🎉🌹✨✨✨✨
Nice! Your videos should be seen by more watchers. May I repost your channel without changing anything on the clean platform named Ganjing World? Thank you!
Interesting - looks tasty but I personally would like it a bit thinner . Also of course you could add pieces of bacon.
What type of stove were you using outdoors?
Great channel 😊
