This was an amazing breakdown. You got the Chvrches vibe down. This could easily be a full song. Are there any specific VSTs you'd recommend that are like Serum? Or do you think that Serum is basically a standard one that you recommend?

Sorry, Logic is clunky. Bitwig or Reaper are the two best right now. ProTools still exists only out of inertia.

As far as I know, Reaper also does not discriminate track type either. And it's a really good point. I'd like to have the sounds and effects of Logic but running in Reaper :)

I started out with Sonar and have since tried Cubase, Logic and Pro Tools. In my experience, Sonar had the most intuitive, user-friendly GUI and workflow. Its only downfall (IMO) was its poor integration with Midi devices compared to other DAWs. Otherwise, I think it was the absolute best DAW on the market until Gibson destroyed it.

I have uploaded 4 songs to DistroKid, and they are visible on UA-cam and Spotify, but I am unable to apply for the artist-specific access. I see the message 'Start by uploading music to UA-cam.' Does this mean I need to wait for some time before I can select the link with my name, or is there an issue? My songs are visible on Spotify and UA-cam Music, but I cannot get the artist badge link

I went to protools from Live and I wont go back

If I already have a UA-cam page with the same music I want to upload to distro kid. Should I delete the page if I want them to upload music to UA-cam so the music isn't on UA-cam twice meaning it's on my current UA-cam channel now and if I have distro kid upload it to UA-cam then the music will be up there twice. Is that allowed or would I have to delete my channel

A wise music producer once told me that MOTU Digital Performer was better than Logic. I started off using Logic Pro, then 3 years ago switched to using Digital Performer. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made to be honest. Ultimately I can’t say DP 11 is the best daw, but all round it’s definitely better than Logic.

i have a theory that the new technology is worst. i own a cd from the early cubase from 18 years ago and probably is better than the latest number 14 version because what they call technological advance what i truly see is clutter of completely unnecessary features they claim it's a must have. but for the use i do, which has ressemblances of the controls of a VHS or walkman "rewind, play, stop, pause fast forward and rec" , also able to run kontakt and run plugins, i only need the essential features like the pan, the volume, the erase, the cut and move in the multitracks, and that's almost everything i need in lightweight. i think it's clutter. similar happens to every new telephone. at the end of the day i am only using whatsapp, youtube, firefox, sms, taking photos and videos and calling. the rest of apps are clutter. no matter if everyday the smartphones are getting more expensive and more powerful if they have to carry all those applications that i will never use. i call them stones in my pockets. at the end of the day the telephone runs same performance than the old ones that had less clutter. and you need to work at nasa for erasing those bloatwares. i am not running that early cubase LE that was given when purchuasing this mixer yamaha mw12 almost 2 decades ago. but i am stuck at cubase 5. i do have the version 12 installed but only because it accepts FLAC. but the workflow sucks at the new versions, and the darker background hurts my sight. today i got 8 new versions of cubase. they keep developing, but i am not willing to learn any. i would like to meet a programmer that would build a lighter weight latest cubase edition without all the bs. the cubase 5 from 2009 was already full of bs like the autotune (varitune) and their own synths hallion and other bloatware they included.

Hi friend! is it possible to monitor Valhalla Super Massive? I use it with OBS Studio for streams, and it’s amazing, but I can’t hear the echo or delay effects I create. I’d love to hear them just as I hear the normal sounds I make through the microphone, and of course, without it sounding doubled or causing issues in the stream. I think I remember pressing a button in OBS that allowed me to hear myself through Valhalla, but it created conflicts during the stream, and the sound didn’t come out right. Is there a solution for this? Thanks!

I might be dumb, but I feel HEARING SOMETHING WOULD HELP CONCEPTUALIZE THIS STUFF! Wtf how do you make a video about writing a song with zero music?

I also have used several of the available DAWs, and have an analog background with a small demo studio I had in the '80's using a TASCAM 12 channel analog mixing board and a TASCAM 38 8 track reel-to-reel with a Dolby hardware unit. Well... there's Mac and then there's PC. Now days PC is just as stable as a Mac Pro. Plus with a PC you can get a high number of CPU cores and lot of RAM that Mac is used to offering, and a whole... lot cheaper than a Mac. Logic is a Mac DAW. It will not run on Windows. Same thing with Digital Performer, it was developed for a Mac. There is a PC version for Digital Performer, but it has always been a Mac DAW through most of its history, and... the Windows version is NOT stable at all. I couldn't even get Digital Performer on my Windows 7 to record my guitar, and their support never could give me a fix, after trying various versions. Other's on V.I. Control confirmed they also had problems with DP running on a Windows PC. So forget that, until they fix all the bugs in it with Windows. Reaper is fine, as long as you don't mind doing some things manually that other DAWs do automatically. I used SONAR (Cakewalk) for a while, until they went out of business. Haven't tried any Cakewalk product after that, and SONAR MIDI had some good tools, but its setup for MIDI was convoluted. Studio One is the easiest DAW to navigate around on and setup, so far. What others have said about its drag-n-drop features is true. But other DAWs like Cubase are doing more drag-n-drop too. I actually found Studio One fine for small instrument arrangements, but for orchestra setup with a large template, they've still got work to do. Cubase for Windows PC is preferred for large orchestra based template setups using Vienna Ensemble Pro 7, which is what a lot of Hollywood composers use. Reason for using Vienna Ensemble, which is server software to run on multiple computers as slaves, is all your library samples are stored on the slave computers. So when your DAW does an automatic save, it doesn't take but milliseconds to save your DAW file. And you can close and open different cue files for a film in your DAW and the samples remain loaded in Vienna Ensemble on your slaves. This is how the Hollywood composers work with large orchestra templates. Pro Tools, still the industry standard for post-production and live recording. Bit of a learning curve, but by far still the best mixing DAW and for editing, in my opinion. Not so great for MIDI composing, but it's got enough MIDI tools to get good results. The drawback is you have to buy their hardware version of Pro Tools if you want to use a large track count template, like an orchestra template. Otherwise you're limited to around a hundred tracks using the Native Pro Tools version.

I am working on an album of covers and am not sure which plan to pick. It is me singing and my cousin playing guitar and one track with another person doing a background vocal. Does that mean I need to choose to plan that says “5-10 artists?” Thanks!

if i get the cheapest plan can i still put a project that was dropped before's original release date? or is it only that i cant choose to choose release daes for new songs?

For me Logic is the way. Hardly ever you are going to need (when I say need...I am not talking about choice) third parties plugins, because, you pay and Apple give to you everything they have. There is no add, no plus...no nothing. You pay, you have 100% of the DAW, including lybriries.

Been using Protools 12,5 which works well for me but my main problem is that..its crashing more often nees to change buffer size over and over again..i think DP 10 will do better..but ill try
