    HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! Thank you for the comedy video. I had a rough day and this hilarious video made me laugh so hard I forgot all about the hours of stress I had been dealing with. I thought I was going to maybe learn something about guitars or Gibson. Instead I was treated to a parody of how ridiculous some of these videos can be.

    I own 2. 620-6, and a 330-12. I love them. Bucket list, holy grails for me.I suck as a guitar player, but at least I suck playing the greatest sounding guitars EVER made. Don't believe me? Ask someone else that has played them.

    Playing over the hills and far away by Led Zeppelin on a Rickenbacker 12 string is like playing blackbird by the Beatles on a les Paul.

    Damn, that old hand done routing 4:43 that they did before they switched to CNC machines is crazy. He plowed through that wood so quickly and flawlessly. This must be 1991 since they're making the John Lennon signature model 12:30.

    If the guy around 9 mins thinks Jimi Hendrix wasn’t born in 1952, he shows how out of touch with his market his company was and is. The idea that GIbson somehow developed a guitar that met the needs for the sixties generation of players doesn’t recognise that Hendrix played Fenders and that Gibson continued to miscue its development of models even after the belated success of the Les Paul. Listening to Henry in 1990s (?) is so ironic given Gibson’s QC and financial problems in 2018.

    Wow did I just get schooled. So according to CEO and owner John Hall, Rickenbacker is a specialized guitar for a very special purpose for a very narrow market. I find this shocking. I have held that they can be used for anything. I still think they can yet it may not be what they were designed for. I may be misunderstanding him somewhat.

    • @RastaSaiyaman
      @RastaSaiyaman 6 років тому

      He's talking bullshit. Sure a Rick excels in the kind of music for where it is best known for but look up the Peter Banks era of Yes, Fugazi and early Genesis to truly hear what else a Rick can do. In fact when I bought mine I was surprised how well it responds to a fuzz pedal, I'm pretty sure that if Josh Homme would try it he'd be using one with Queens of the stone age.

    • @dansmusic5749
      @dansmusic5749 6 років тому

      RastaSaiyaman I am familiar with Peter Banks (RIP). I am still unsure what the company intent is. Of course, I am free to use the guitars any way I please. And I like doing things different than what most people are doing. But, there is no greater authority than John Hall. I am very curious as to what his intentions are since I respect him and love his product. Rickenbacker makes such exquisite guitars. I am, however, in complete agreement with you about their versatility. I must be misunderstanding him.

    • @fossilmatic
      @fossilmatic 6 років тому

      Dans Music If Rickenbacker and Hall started to redesign their models for the current trends and market they would probably be confronted by the issues affecting other legacy brands like Fender and Gibson, or have to start from scratch and design in competition with later-established brands like PRS in the same price range. It’s probably better that they stick to their design and marketing approach regardless of whether it actually reflects their customers use of the instruments or not. I’m considering buying a 330 at present and the only thing that deters me is when I feel restricted to how its been used by well-known artists... but then, there’s a lot of ground between Pete Townshend/Paul Weller and Roger McGuinn/Johnny Marr.

    • @dansmusic5749
      @dansmusic5749 6 років тому

      fossilmatic That's a great point. But boy, I wish I could sit down with him for a couple of hours. Public image is a big deal. I wonder how honest or open a manufacturer can be with its public without incurring a negative outcome. I think strings are going to be stiffer to bend on those hollow bodies. Apparently that's part of the tone. I find I have to work harder at distortion tones because the signal is more harmonically complex. But in the end, more satisfying. Ricks have an over the top treble which is great for cutting through in a band situation. Or so I'm told.
