Would these get really dirty like a younger kids bicycle handle bars?
Thank you for your question. Being a RibGrips user myself since 2015, I have not experienced dirt, grass, or rocks sticking between the handrim ribs. Mud however, may stick but I try to avoid as much as possible. I’m an avid outdoorsman and I wheel through all elements and don’t recall any issues. From time to time I have to remove the covers to clean the tar from rolling on asphalt (rarely) or taco grease that was on my hands (just being honest). The fact that these pieces of plastic cost $160 is an affront to the entire disabled community.
How well do these do in the winter time with having to touch freezing cold rails and will they fit over the natural fit handrims?
Hello and Thank you for your email. Heat or Cold does not affect the surface. I use them in 32 degree winters and 100 degree summers without gloves and have no issues (except in rain). Unfortunately, RibGrips will not fit over the Oval style handrims.
How easy or hard is it to clean
Thanks for your question. Once you remove the covers from the handrim, place them in water with liquid dish soap for 30 mins. Lightly scrub with wash cloth or soft bristle brush. Allow adequate drying time then re-install the cover onto the handrim. Re-Apply the tacky glue if needed. Please email if you have any additional questions.

@@mikebledsoe3279 Yes we send a tacky glue with purchase. Extremely tacky and can be reapplied over and over. For more aggressive users, we recommend Gorilla Gel Glue (cement type glue) for a permanent hold.

How about in the rain what are they like when they get wet?
@spoony life Light rain or drizzle doesn't seem to affect them but they are slick when soaked like any other rubber coated handrim.
This product has increased my comfort and endurance while wheeling beyond any other hand rim: this is reason enough to make RibGrips my first choice of hand rim after using Natural Fit and trying various coated and anodized rims on my 25" wheels. I no longer have to wear gloves while wheeling, unless to keep my hands warm in cold weather: very convenient, and using gloves does not interfere with grip at all. I an paralyzed at T9 and have severe rheumatoid arthritis. RibGrips hand rims allow a most secure grip while being gentle on very sensitive and painful joints. Summary of benefits: ~RibGrips are comfortable in very hot and very cold weather, and all in between. Also work well when wet. ~While not "tacky" in feel, the material and design gives real security even when one's grasp is weak. I really like the 1.5" thickness, and don't find that it changes my chair's width at all. ~My bare hands never get cuts from dings as in a solid rim, and my wheeling callouses are even smoothed away now. ~When I graze a door way or furniture, RibGrips do not scratch or leave any mark. ~RibGrips wipe off easily and shed dry matter without special care, unlike solid surfaces which readily get and remain sticky. ~After 2 years of constant use, my RibGrips look the same as new! Color hasn't faded, ribs have not worn down at all. Nice to have color choices. ~Another plus is that I can wear rings and bracelets again without damaging them, so wheeling in style and enjoying normal accessories again. ~Price is reasonable, worth every penny IMHO.
What about when slowing down, does it get hot with friction and burn your hands?

After using these for many years on my steep driveway and other hilly sidewalks, I recommend a tap - tap type pressure as you are going downhill. I use quick alternating grips to slow me down, and I don't get friction burns at all.
Best handrims I've found for those lacking some hand dexterity. Really like them.
