PULLING A Calf For the First Time! - Calving 2024 Part 6
There’s a black beauty
Cows work for food. Calf says my mommy doesn't have any milk I need some milk I don't want to starve pleese feed me new mommy
Calf had to be a little thief to live so its not giving up. Cute adorable calf has no choice, its hungry😊
got to be careful with the hide it can over heat the calf
try not to let the cow lick on a still borne calf it will make it easier to graft them
had a cow teach me a great lesson trying to graft a calf after 5 days the cow looked at me and peed on the calf then she licked the calf and she took it now i look like a crazy guy chasing the cow with a bucket its worked every time
Glad to see you're prepared and know how to use the equipment you've put together well. Good to be able to help when it's needed. Anytime you can get real hosetime, even mop up is valuable. There is always something to learn on a fireline. I was a capt. with South Monterey County Fire here in California. Keep Smiling and Stay Grateful
Just found your channel subbed ! Love the ranching life it’s the only way to live , thanks for the wonderful memories ❤ please keep them coming makes my day better….
That's why we share on social media! Glad we can give you a portal to memories ❤️
Thanks For explaining to us about how to train and how train a colt
Howdy from Marana AZ Good job guys, stay safe. You are right about the ropes breaking, we used that type of pump on tank trailers when I was hauling liquid fertilizer. Take care and God bless 🤠 🌵
Horrendous video boring as hell
Good job boys. ❤
When the cows milk goes thru the calf the cow will accept the calf
Sorry for your loss. Sounds like a great man! You’ll have fond memories for a lifetime. Continue to share with your kids and grandkids.
ohhhh i ccould have lived without hearing about the hogs
That was definitely a surprise, wasn't it?
tecknology is amazing :O good visit with the elder , always enjoyed hearing my grannys old stories
Total condolences to your mum and whole family, I am sorry to hear of this gentleman's passing but it comes to us all sooner or later What a great gentleman especially with his stories that many of us with harming backgrounds from other parts of the world can strangely somehow relate to. Dan
Howdy from Marana AZ Sad to hear about your loss. Enjoyed the conversation, glad you got time to visit with him. Take care and God bless 🤠 🌵
Why is that baby in the frigging coral with that stallion!!
Persistence paid off, yea!!
😊
All of them are beautiful
You do realize that the voice text is saying that you are breeding mayors
That's automated by AI
Im not watching ignorance
Why isnt the mare tied to the fence and foal should be tied on the other side of fence
The mare is not tied because if the stallion takes advantage of an immobilized mare's position he could seriously harm her with kicks which they are prone to doing when establishing dominance. The intention of holding the foal rather than tying it is to pet it and provide a way to soothe it during a stressful time rather than possibly creating injury when pulling back on a rope. Our practices are this way to help the mare breed while being as safe as possible to all, especially the foal.
The little girl is pretty persistent
Ur full of crap dude she's got a baby that's inexcusable to do until she's not with her foal u cant breed til there weened from mom or ur forcing the mom to not have milk once bred that's awful nasty crap to do....wait til she's not with a baby already and she's not going to have very healthy babies either being breed to soon😢hope karma catches up with ur inhumane bs
JB Weld will hold it together lol
What breed are these bulls...are these beef masters?
All of our cattle are currently Red Angus
Howdy from Marana AZ September I will have 39 years trucking. Hoping to retire at 62, next year September, at least to part time and not sleep in a truck. Then if I do travel I can take time to stop and look. Take care and God bless 🤠 🌵
This also goes to explain why accidents (to people) and or illness (especially long term) can be totally catastrophic to many medium or smaller farms or livestock businesses. Animals of whatever type require your attention 24/7 whereas often once a crop (plants) have been planted /sown there are likely to be "rest spells/vacation opportunities" available until harvest time. The exception to this would be a commercial horticulture business growing produce designed for human consumption on a regular repeat basis during a season. Dan
100% agree. I have a full-time job and I also have some part-time work that I do. Both of those support our farm/ranch. Ideally, I would love to work full-time on the place as that is also my serenity.
Horse farm instead of a puppy farm
Except it's not
Hello @HashknifeRanch I hope you are doing well A quick question on the COB feed... would you be kind enough to tell me how much feed was canckles consuming on a daily basis (approx how many pounds) I thank you kindly!!!
A good estimate is about 3 to 3.5 pounds per day
I have not seen many ranching operations using TN Walking horses. I find it interesting. I enjoy your videos.
Glad you do, thanks for watching! We use our Walkers for everything unless we're training a non-gaited client horse
Howdy from Marana AZ Amazing what they can do with DNA nowadays. Take care and God bless 🤠 🌵
It truly is impressive!
well done
Why this female tale is cuted off?
We don't cut tails. Some are missing due to frostbite as calves
The females looked bigger than bulls and females seems as if they are not on their oestrus period
The way it kicks the bulls it remind me when i was milking cows and taming the ones who were milked for the first time
I would love to register my yearling and 4 year old but both parents aren’t papered/registered sadly. Would love learning how to!
@Waschenfelderheidi usually you need sires and dams to be registered to prove lineage, but you can always reach out to whatever association you'd like to register and they may have a process to do what you would like. Worse case scenario they say no and you're in no different position than you are now 🤷♂️
Very beautiful ❤
Perfect weather!
Most of your american breeds are not very big . Is there a reason for this and does every foal naturally gait. I dont like to see the sometimes abusive show classes for these animals .Your own horses look so happy and obviously well cared for.
The breeds definitely vary in size. Our foals are noticeably gaiting after a few hours walking. The show horse folks are known for abusive behavior to get exaggerated movements which are unnatural and absolutely unnecessary. We have maintained for a long time that we never have nor will condone that treatment to such a wonderful breed let alone animal
Even the stallion and the mare are too.
The foals pretty though.
Well its his horses, so he gets to do whatever he wants with them.
❤ Oh, watching from Sunny Southwest Florida, I wish I lived your life.
Great video... 👍 If I may ask what was the weight of the cow after 60 days of cob feed and what was the net carcass weight, Would appreciate your response!!!!
@anasmalik8592 As a reminder, she was 36 months at butcher due to the way we hold back heifers for a year before breeding, then she ultimately went through a full breeding season before being identified as a butcher animal. Live Weight was 1,540 pounds, Rail/Carcass Weight was 936 pounds, Total Packaged meat weighed 442.5 pounds. This was close to our typical approximation of about 1/3 meat for a live weight animal.
@@HashknifeRanch great 👍 I thank you for the quick response
@HashknifeRanch sorry one last question how much additional weight did canckles put on after the 60 days feed ?? Would it be fair to assume around 265 pounds??
@anasmalik8592 we estimate approximately 3.5 pounds a day during the process, so she likely gained about 230 pounds since it was a 67 day feed out
@HashknifeRanch thanks a million 😊
Now this is what Tennessee Walkers are supposed to look like.! Your horses conformations are perfect.. and they have really good sturdy legs. Man they have almost ruined the breed with close line breeding. Now they are only being bred for the show ring. It’s really a disservice to such an amazing breed of horse.
We like to explain that ours are not "rail horses" instead they are "using horses" or "ranch horses". We breed for strength and durability, not shows. Thank you for the compliments! 🙏
