This channel is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time after seeing Rhett Shull, Uncle Larry and a few others I always wanted to but never did… until now!
I’ve been a musician most of my life and have played in many bands. Welder by day, guitar slinger at night. I wanted to make a channel to show things that aren’t so new and expensive as others do that show the things me and others use that aren’t expensive or boutique but still give amazing sounds and ignites creativity! I want this to be for people like me. Working class blue collar people and the gear we use to create!
I’m married with three beautiful kids so being able to spend fortunes on gear is not an option for me. Like others I want the latest and greatest but not being sponsored and self funded that makes it hard. The thing I have are what I need and things that I have spent A LOT of time researching and playing, so hopefully this channel will help you find what you want and need!
See y’all on the next one!

Starting to get the room situated. Gonna be getting monitors and the room treated soon. If there are any desks or monitors you recommend send them on! Good look at the start of things and excited to see how it ends and what becomes of it.

Been looking for a good demo of sounds and how fluid the pedal is to work with. Out of the box and straight to the board. Great sounding u it that is super easy to use and very versatile. This is probably the best bang for you buck pedal there is. All in one with great sounds at a good price. This brand new is $300 so in time used ones will be less and a steal! I’ll do a longer in depth video l...

Two of my favorite amps with some similarities and differences! Tweed deluxe has a WGS g12q and the magnatone is stock.

Swapped the g12 blue out for a WGS g12q to help with volume and break up. WGS has more friendly volume and break up with no headroom at all.

I got to playing around on this rainy day and found out just how amazing it really is. This video does not do the sound justice what so ever. Can’t believe how awesome it is. LIKE SHARE and SUBDCRIBE!!!!
The 64 is smoother and not as harsh as the magnatone.
Your flip-flops are cool, but not that cool
@@materakus I hope you break a string at your next gig and don’t have a back up guitar or extra strings!
and I hope you will improve it@@Derrick_Rucker
I owned both of these amps at one point. Ended up keeping the Deluxe after I swapped out the speaker for an Allesandro SC 64. It's a fantastic amp.
2X10’s ?
@@buckgalbraith6928 both are 1x12
lol Crocs inside ur house on ur own carpet?
Sorry, great demo though….
@@user-cf4tf3ey6n yeah it gross when people out there gross bare feet on pedals. I have inside crocs and outside crocs lol
Buy a guitar stand. Geez...
@@StevenSimpson-it5mv geez…… look in the bottom left corner!
always loved magnatone.
30 better open highs, fluppy bass and visa versa
Very cool. I'm leaning towards the Fender as my next amp. We'll see.
@@Rebellovw I sold the magnatone. The Deluxe reverb is the best amp ever made in my opinion!
What was your overdrive ?
@@shaneross6242 Hudson broadcast
Deluxe Reverb is so nice , great demo thanks for playing some actuall songs instead of nonsense noodling
The Deluxe has more bass and much rounder sounding. Excellent pedal platform if you choose to go that way!
magnatone.......
I turely agree with your sentiment. I have a dod eq pedal instead of the ge7 from boss. You get a few more db to mess with on the dod eq.
I have deluxe reverb and I like the magnatone just as well.
i had a vintage 65 DR. all original except some caps. it was amazing. not the same as the custom DR. i used a brown box which made a huge difference.
Yeah the best way to run helix is its preamps through the front of amps. Saves dsp and sounds the best imo. I carry two 1x12 combos for stereo
How does the nobles in the helix one thing sound compared to those? 😂
Genuinely asking. I can't afford a nobles right now but I have a helix pedal
@@hartlee1160 it’s close. The helix has a little more mids but that’s not a bad thing in a live setting. The drives in the helix are pretty good.
You gonna use the flint tremolo or hx one’s? I have a mobius, debating getting an hx one to do weird pitch effects etc. but don’t think it would replace the strymon stuff.
@@FakeGlasses i use the flint for verb and trem. I use the hx one for drop tuning, Leslie, compressor and whatever other weird effect I want.
Both amps sound great but you're playing is off the charts !! Mighty fine !!
That song is a G-major.. not minor. Sounds good anyway
Your camera being closer to the Magnatone made it sound fuller. I liked both, depending on what you were playing.
Both sound great probably the guitar choice would be interesting too great though
Great vid man. Been an acoustic player for 25 years. Finally delving into the world of electric and building my first board. Really useful vid with no BS. Exactly what's needed on YT.
@@retrorunner79 thanks bud, I appreciate that!
Is the magnatone 6v6 or El 84?
6v6
great pickin
The deluxe is good until you need to play outside and realise that a transistor radio has more volume.
What kinda gigs are you playing where you can’t be heard on a Deluxe 😂😂
You must be playing wimberley stadium or something?😂
😂 c'mon... even in a stadium the technicians put a 🎤 in front of your amp...
I have owned a Super Reverb and a Bassman Reissue that I loved. As much as I love Fender that Magnatone has it going on!
Hey man, great video. Personally i like better how the Fender sounds, warmer maybe? Also maybe due to where the mic was in the room but to me the Fender better balanced in the mid freqs. Thanks for sharing
what's the riff at 5:58? Both sound amazing Magnatone by a nose for me
@@ojaisherpa a song I’ve been working on, I found the riff and just been trying to refine it.
I cringe when people lay there guitars like that ? So bad for the neck
Have you ever opened for your dad darius?
Nice demo, thank you! The Magnatone did sound great, but I think the Deluxe would be my choice. The Deluxe seemed to have little more definition overall. Thanks Derrick, Cheers!
Both amps sound great. I personally preferred the sound of the Magnatone. Nice comparison video!
Holy that magnatone sounds insanely good!
Nice playing, Derrick! To these ears, if you graphed the frequency response of these two amps, the Fender graph would be shaped like a “u” (scooped mids) and the Magnatone like an “n” (prominent mids). Different strokes for different folks, of course, but they each sound great in their own way!
dont know if the magnatone is closer to the mic, but I def like it better
The deluxe sounds like it has more presence and a bit more clarity.
Magnatone Panoramic stereo really is in a class of its own, even when stacked against stellar amps like Fender. Nothing else has that magic for me. I do prefer a Gibson tone with these over a Fender guitar.
Sounds great if you’re using your cell phone to record with try putting it in the center of the amps not off to the side give it a little bit more accurate volume
When you twangle the plank it go like booooiiinngg - no doubt oh yes 😊
Recording King Dirty 30’s are really good too.
The speaker in DlxR HW (Jensen C-12Q) is disastrous crap. Swap it to superior Jensen Tornado Classic 100. Plug in the Normal channel and it beats Two Rock - used to have TR.
I owned the Magnatone Twilight and wound up selling it. It was very capable and the pitch shifting tremolo was cool but I found it to be very 'forward' and "in-your-face'. I have owned a Fender 64 Deluxe Reverb Custom Hardwired for several years now and simply put, it is "musical". It has a way of sounding dimensional where the sound it not as focused or punchy as the Twilighter. Great demo sir. I too admire your skills, chops and talent.
You had el84s in the twilighter?
@@Dave-rk2nlno, the twilighter does not have EL84 tube sockets . It was 6v6’s
most of that is from the stock magnatone speakers they benefit from some warmer alnico speakers imo.
Love your playing
Magnatone's highs and body have my attention, although you can't go wrong with a Deluxe.
Great playing, both sound great. I think the Deluxe is a little more tailored to a Tele, where all the best sounds I've heard from a Twilighter have been with Gibson-style guitars. The sounds that Big Thief get with their Twilighters are giant.
Dobrá práce 👍👍👍
I’ve owned most all vintage 60s Blackface Fenders, just for reference. I’ll take that Magatone over the new handwired Deluxe hands down, thick body tone, more organic more natural, got punch, rounded highs. The Fender sounds thin with brittle highs, no girth.
Super helpful comparison. Have been curious about the twilighter. Princeton player myself. Also i dig your taste in pedals!
What are the chances id see you in a random video
