Nice, how many mugs can you make with 10lb clay
Sorry we're reviving our channel and just saw your comment! You've probably long since worked this out! But we'd love to answer anyway: We work in kilograms and grams here in Australia (the bags in our videos are 10kg). But 10lb / 4.5kgs could make 4-5 mugs like the ones in this video. S + G x
Super nice video. thank you for explaining everything so easy
Great video , I’d like to try this
Thank you! We're happy to hear you found it helpful. Let us know if you make your own mug! :)
I am so glad to be here . Keep on sharing friends my beautiful Aussie Friends . Your work as mother and daughter is one of the most beautiful thing, to see Nature and art together is God 's blessing. I your new Friend. God bless your home Amen 🙏
Hello ma’am , can I know the type of clay u use ?
Hi Asmaa, thanks for your question. We’re using a white Raku clay in this tutorial, but you can use your preferred clay to make the same mug! - G
Hello! Thanks for this video! What kind of the table or surface use for working ceramic? thank you!!!
Hi Marcela! Thanks for your comment + for watching. ✨ We use cement sheet or canvas on top of a sold surface (e.g a bench or very sturdy table). You can get cement sheet from your local hardware or building supplies store. - Georgie + Sarah
@@_hopeandco_thank you!!!!! ✨
found this when I was v depressed and its helped so much, you do it all! and you're so wholesome!
Hi Katherine! That means so much to us, it’s been a shocking couple of years and it means a lot to know our videos bring joy. We hope you’re okay ❤️ We look forward to creating lots more content this year to cheer you up! Thank you for your beautiful comment. Sarah + Georgie
Mom and daughter are soo similar . Love your videos
Haha we get that a lot! Thank you so much for watching + supporting our channel 🤍 S + G
Amazing channel!... can you make a video on how you make a studio art space/ place, for people who wants to begin in establishing one
Thank you so much for your comment + content suggestion! This is absolutely something we can do. I’m just about to redo my art space at home, so I’ll document the process! - Georgie
These are so lovely to watch! Have just begun my ceramics journey! I was just wondering what sandpaper size do you use?
Oh thank you! We have so much content ahead for 2022, can’t wait to share it! 🥰 We use wet/dry sandpaper from our local hardware store - anything from coarse, medium, fine & extra fine grades, depending on the clay (e.g our BRT and Raku sometimes needs slightly coarser paper in comparison to our Stoneware or Cone 6 clay). - Georgie x
Big like from me!! Just new to ceramics and love finding an Aussie channel. I’m in SA
Hi Angela! 🥰 Welcome to our channel and the beautiful craft of ceramics 🤍 We have plenty more content coming in the New Year, can’t wait to share it with you! - G + S x
What is the drying process mam?
We put our newly made pieces into what we call our ‘bisque/greenware room’ - a relatively cool, temperate room facing south, with thick walls and relatively no humidity. This provides the right environment for things to dry evenly, which usually takes up to seven days. Some potters glaze their greenware straight away, that’s not us! We always do a bisque firing first, once the ‘drying process’ is complete. Hope this answers your question! - Georgie
Congratulations on presenting a beautiful Aussie video that I know I'll be watching regularly. Inspiration plus!! Thanks again.
Thank you so much for your comment and support! 🤍 We’re so happy to hear you enjoyed our video. We have lots more exciting content planned for 2022!
Hiii! I have a question, how long do you wait for the slab to dry a little before molding the mug? I see in your video it’s way easier to handle this way.
Hi Daniela! Thanks for your question. It actually depends on a few different things - temperature of the room, whether the air is dry/humid, as that will determine how long it will take for the clay to firm up a bit. We left our slab out for about 45mins-1hr in a room that was around 20 degrees Celsius, away from direct sunlight. You need to go by the feel of it; it needs to still be soft enough to be easily malleable, but stiff enough so it doesn’t lose its form when you try to shape it. The last thing you want are dry edges and cracks! Just test it out, and if you leave it for an hour and it’s too dry you’ll know. Vice versa, if it’s still too soft leave it out for a bit longer. Hope this helps!
@@_hopeandco_ thank you for your tips!! I will try it this way ❤️ love your videos! Keep the good work 😊
@@danieladiaz1857 Our pleasure! Thank you for watching and supporting our channel! <3
תודה רבה :)
What a beautiful space to create! I totally agree with number 5. I leave 10 minutes at the end of the day to clean up and put everything away. It's way more inviting to walk into the room next time plus you spend hard earned money on art supplies so should look after them with the respect they deserve. Thanks for sharing, I look forward to seeing you create in your beautiful studio again soon! xo
Thank you so much for your comment! Completely agree with you there - we’ve just done a big tidy up and reorganise in our ceramics studio, and it feels SO much better (plus we now know where everything is!) So we’re actioning our own advice here! 🤣 Thanks for watching and supporting us! We’ve got more content coming soon and looking forward to sharing it! 🥰 G + S x
Hello I'm just learning and you said your Raku clay is the best for learning I thought Raku clay was for a Raku kiln. Can I fire any clay in a electric kiln just trying to learn everything I can. Thanks for your help.
Hi Heidi! Absolutely you can fire Raku clay in an electric kiln. It is one of the most forgiving clays to fire at different temperatures, which is why it’s designed to withstand the shock of rapid Raku firing. However, whatever Raku or other clay you buy, make sure you stick to the firing range indicated on the bag. If someone else is firing for you, make sure you give them the exact clay you’re using and ensure your glazes are suitable as a match for that clay. Let us know how you go, we’re more than happy to help or make some videos around this 😊 - Sarah

Great video! Great team! Best of luck to your company. Keep making videos!!!
Thank you so much for watching + for your support! ♥️ We have some exciting new content coming up soon! 🎥
It's beautiful video Georgie ❤️🍀
Thank you Manasi! 🤍✨
Thank you so much! ♥️
Love your channel. The quality and content is fantastic. You guys are going to be big! :)
Oh thank you so much! 🥺 You have no idea how much this comment means to us! ♥️
Your off to a great start. Please make more video more often.
Thank you! We definitely want to, we’ve just been in and out of lockdown since June in our state 😢 As soon as we can, we’ll have more content coming your way ☺️✨
@@_hopeandco_ cheers, looking forward to see your works too. God bless
Great finds at the thrift store. Could you do video on how to make some of the molds for slip casting? I’m really interested in multi- piece molds for example, 3-4 + piece plaster molds. It’s hard to fing tutorials on plaster mold making that have 3, 4, 5+ piece plaster molds.
Thank you for watching and commenting! Yes, we're absolutely going to make some videos on mold making! :) When we come out of lockdown - we've had 3 lockdowns since May :( - this is certainly something we will film.
Finally I have found an artist like myself! I am a photographer, a potter, an author and I sew. I have felt guilty for always wanting to learn and explore new things. I don’t now. I love your videos. I owned a business for 15 years with my mom and it was the best 15 years of my life. I hope to own a business one day with my own daughter.
Mum and I have just read your message and are so touched that you connect with what we do ♥️ It’s such a special thing to work together as mother + daughter, and we love hearing about others doing the same! Thank you for watching and supporting us, and we wish you all the best with your artistic practices too. Feel free to send us a DM on Instagram @_hopeandco_ we’d love to keep in touch! X
🥰🥰 love it
Thank you! We're so happy to hear you enjoyed our video.
Can you please do a video on making your molds.
Yes that’s coming up! ☺️ We’re about to make some new ones. Thanks for watching! ✨
I love the energy! you're both so cute can't wait to watch more of your videos💕
Thank you so much! 🥰 Look forward to hearing what you think. ✨
Would love to know how you make molds ☺️
We're definitely planning some mold-making videos! As soon as we're out of lockdown, this is something we're very keen to film! :)
I'm trying to figure out the word that you use when you say what you put on the bowls so that the clay doesn't stick!
For the Filigree bowl in this video, we use Chux (the blue cloth) to stop the clay from sticking 😁 The flower bowl went directly onto one of our plaster hump moulds so it didn’t need it. Thanks for watching and commenting! ☺️
@@_hopeandco_ Chux! That's the word I couldn't catch. Thank you very much! I really love your videos and your work. Love the mother-daughter team!
Our pleasure! We’re so happy to hear you enjoy our videos ☺️ Thanks for your support.
Lovely video. Would be interesting to see how you tidy up the edges of the intricate platters. Perhaps another video?
Thank you! We're very pleased to hear you enjoyed it. We can definitely expand on that in another video. :)
Very good !!!
Thank you ♥️
I really love your presentation style. I found your video very easy to listen to and very informative. Your "early days" easel was genius. Can't wait to see more from you. Thanks.

I love you guys! You look and sound like you are having so much fun! What’s not to love about family and art. When you work at something you love, your life isn’t work at all. Live your joy!
Thank you so much Sandy! We love what we do so much, and feel very lucky to get to work alongside one another ☺️ It brings us a lot of joy! And we especially enjoy sharing our craft through our videos. We have lots more exciting content to come! 🎥✨
Loved the video. Why don’t you rub off the canvas texture?
Thank you! We’re so happy to hear you enjoyed our video ☺️ We purposefully keep the canvas impression in some of our pieces if they are part of our ‘rustic’ range. We also run hessian fabric through the slab roller along with the clay (which you can see in some of our bisque wares here) as this is one of the patterns we offer our wholesalers too - it’s a very popular look with Australian customers! But we have plenty of other pieces without it.
I love this so much ! Awesome work !! how do you start ur ideas or how do you guys come up with some ideas
Thank you! ☺️✨ We brainstorm around what we think people would love to watch + factor in whatever is going on in the studio each week. 🎥
Love your work and especially your interaction with your mother <3 Barely 5 minutes in and you have a subscriber for life. Bless your beautiful souls and a big hug to Piper.
