Music makes the world go round.
Sonata for Clarinet and Piano by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco (1)
"Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco (April 3, 1895 -- March 16, 1968) was an Italian composer. He was known as one of the foremost guitar composers in the twentieth century with almost one hundred compositions for that instrument. In 1939 he migrated to the United States and became a film composer for MGM Studios for some 200 Hollywood movies for the next fifteen years. He also wrote concertos for such soloists as Jascha Heifetz and Gregor Piatigorsky."

Larry Ward passed away this week at the age of 72. RIP
Glorious.
i was just watching kingwood 1998 state video and heard the name Larry Ward and if its the same person....Athens was very blessed to get you if anybody saw what you did at kingswood.. Amazing!
Is Larry Ward still around? I've heard that he had pancreatic cancer. Another teacher told me that the FBI had a run in with him at AHS? Can anyone confirm?
What happened to Larry Ward? I heard two things from two different teachers after graduation. One was that he had pancreatic cancer, and the other was that the FBI had a run-in with him. Can anyone confirm?
Darn it guys, wer getting old, watching us in the past like this.... What the heck ;)
Division 1.... kudos to you directors A++😊
Will always be grateful for the great bands he directed at DeKalb High School 1978-79 and 1979-80.
Who was the band director?
Larry Ward
This was about good a TX military ever got. Wow, what a great performance.
Beautiful
In 1999, I graduated from Humble high. We were very proud of our military marching band. I will say Larry Ward directed a fantastic band in those days.
I can't believe how much you can do with a band of 48..... an impressive feat of articulation and execution..... love watching this everyday...
@larry ward... A++
The fanfare is probably something Mr Ward created. The other music is: Garland Entree Emblem of Freedom Colonel bogey Crown Imperial
division 1....
1 snare kicked off the first blind halt early and messed a bunch of people up.
Fun story: this performance ran long and if they started the clock early we were in danger of disqualification. Listen to how quick the drum majors kick us off at the end. Mr Ward told us that the drum majors are going to look at the clock and if it is too low they would blow one LONG wistle and if we heard that we were to not march off, but get off as fast as safely possible. We were all hoping to get to run off the field. ALAS, two whistles.
My Chaney playing in Rose Bowl Parade 2007❤❤❤❤❤
This video older than me 😳
The 1978-79 and 1979-80 DeKalb High School bands were the best ever at my hometown school also directed by Mr Larry Ward!
Thinking back in retrospect there never has been nor ever will be a more proud period in my life than to have been in Athens those two years. What these kids accomplished in such a short time was nothing short of amazing. No, it wasn’t the greatest 5A band in the land but the atmosphere in the band hall was so positive and so productive every single day. There were a lot of smiles because of what they were doing and they were so proud. There is no way to measure how far these kids came and how hard they worked to even get to this point but it was a lot. I taught bigger bands and taught a lot of notes but being with these kids for the two years I was in Athens is without question the most gratifying teaching experience that I ever had. Plus it was a lot of fun. There are so many great memories of my time there and I think about them all the time.
I march military at Lindale High School. Y’all have a phenomenal marching band that carries on the tradition of military marching.
KM4B Class of 1987 here - That was an awesome drill exquisitely performed.
Best high school band military performance I have ever seen
Does anyone know the name of the 1st march
I hope you see this comment! What year is this from?
I'm in there somewhere... Loving every minute of it! 🥺 Watching this takes me right back. Love it!
Its wonderful! ♡ I miss those days.
The only kind of high school band that should ever exist.
glad some one said it
marvelous!!!!!
👍 impressive job on Joyce's 71st!
This band director...whoever he is is certainly NOT LAZY!...impeccable creativity compared to eastex bands.... I'm sceaming for more imagination from eastex bands....longview that means you...and a host of others...
certainly... I only name about 2-3 East Tx Band Directors that actually had some imagination.... Randy Kiser, George Little, Jason Steele. I’m calling out for the sake of God Mr.Chris Smith from Center changes some things with his band. They could certainly give 4A a little more competition.
@@militarymarchingbandfan9627 Steven Moore at Lindale is most definitely a creative ETX band director!
This wasn’t by any means a flawless performance, but there were still a lot of incredible sounds and a lot of incredible playing by these kids. This was by far my all-time favorite piece to rehearse. Every day was just fun. And what some of the amazing kids who were in this particular wind ensemble may not even remember is that we played more than the 3 required movements by adding the 4th movement only because the kids wanted to do it! And it was extremely difficult!! I will never forget them for how hard they worked and the smiles on their faces when they knew that what they were playing actually sounded good. Once again, not flawless but very very memorable.
1st division....period......great articulation.....impeccable dynamics....
Longview (& no, I’m not here to fuel the long-standing debate between Kingwood & Longview)...but Longview’s signature closing was always “Battle Hymn”. Personally speaking, I think I just heard the best rendition of that ballad, including all of Longview’s versions...with, possibly, the exception of 1983 Longview.
REMARKABLY DONE
very good
The brass!!!!
Wow!
My high school and my graduating class as well Go ‘Stangs
I’m your fan!
KM4B Go Mustangs!! I really don’t miss kingwood, but A little nostalgia never hurts . Living in Lubbock is a whole lot better😎
What is that march played before the ending fanfare?? It’s driving my crazy that I can’t find it.
Pentland Hills
Hayden Nicholson Thanks, I’ve tried quite a few times to figure it out and that’s exactly it!
First time I went to nammb marching contest was in 1994. My band performed at 12:15 p.m. We stayed all afternoon, so we could watch Kingwood High School march. Y'all are always amazing.
In 1998, this was the most entertaining thing happening on Baylor's football field.
What's the name of that fanfare
Proclamation Fanfare
I hadn't even heard of youtube in 2007, so I'm surprised so many people were already on here posting and commenting on videos.
I still can't get over how antiquated that stadium looked the year before my first time setting foot in Kyle Field.
Alan, now that your dad has retired, most assuredly he needs to be honored with the TBA Band master of the year award. I can't think of a more deserving individual as he raised the standard of band tone quality and marching precision within the state over his 35 year tenure as a Texas band director. He was always most professional and an exemplary role model for the students he taught.
For comparisons sake, in 1995 at my high school, our band marched to Sesame Street and other children's songs. The color guard that year wore overalls as their costume.
