Good job Unc! 👏🏾 Chanise wanted to talk so bad. 🤣
This video was a very enjoyable historical reflection of Englewood. I was a 50's kid, and as a child, Englewood was the only place I knew. I lived there until I married and moved away in 1977. I enjoyed seeing my cousins in the video William A. (Squank) Jones, Sr., and his Sister Debra. And, our good family friend Ralph. I remember Englewood well! Second only to Downtown in shopping, and movie theaters. The Christmas Season was Fantastic! The streets were decorated just like Downtown. One of my most vivid memories of living in Englewood, and proof that Englewood was an economic engine, were when they assassinated Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Sixty-Third and Halsted Street and throughout the Englewood shopping area was protected by Mayor Daley 1, and the Chicago Police Department, just as vigorously as Downtown was. Riots broke out all over the city. Chicago's West Side Shopping Center at Pulaski and Madison Streets in West Garfield Park was destroyed. Still, Great, Yes, Great Englewood continued to be a great place to shop, and a safe place to live. Sure, there were probably troubles in Englewood, but I never experienced any. Being reared there as a child, I had no fear. I will never forget Englewood. It is in my blood! Thanks, for sharing the video.
