The sea trout come and go. It’s like feast or famine. The first few days were great. Finding sharks teeth and nice sea shells is the same way. A number of good friends happened to schedule at the same time.

Our legacy from hurricane Helene

Thousands of trees down, days with no power, internet, drinking water. Many homes destroyed and lives lost. Devastating aftermath in many areas. But incredible legacy of local volunteers and outsiders pouring in to help. Our family was so fortunate.

Home gardener 2nd year elderberry report
Переглядів 804 місяці тому
Spring of 2023 I stuck elderberry cuttings into the ground when it was still cold. They grew about 1 or 2 feet high. This year, their 2nd year, several are over my head and have provided more than a year supply for myself. I have stuck more cuttings into the ground and at the end of this season will report my observations of these various varieties too. This is the kind of information I wanted ...

Shrimping, shelling (after tropical storm Debbie) toothing, camping in humble style. What a difference a mini-fridge/freezer can make. Fishing was terrible at the inlet. Last year I took home 14 flounder. This year I had no keepers BUT finding those two large shells brightened my day. Debbie stole my first 3 camping days at Edisto Beach State Park but all turned out well!

Roadside Elderberry bonanza increases my garden success
Переглядів 8116 місяців тому
After processing Elderberries from my garden this morning I had the urge to check on wild berries in the country 10 minutes away. They were not quite ripe but I saw some that were on the same road. I collected a bucket full and made syrup out of half of them and froze the rest. This is a fun new venture for me in my retirement.

How to fillet Edisto Sea Trout fast and easy
I’m from Brazil and came to learn how to fold the bandana. I was watching the video and my youngest son said: “look Moroni and the plates”
I love that painting. It has been one of my favorites. What a powerful story behind that painting, huh?
@ shure!! now i’m 42 years old and I learn about that story when I was 15.
I’ve eaten the taller one while it’s firm enough to slice in wedges but I guess a bit slimy?… it was sweet still … is that normal for them?
I am very jealous of your elderberries. We want to try to grow them in Tennessee, and they were an object failure. We did once pick a friends plants. When you do it, wear gloves, or you are going to look like you just murdered someone 😅and the stain sticks. We made "Monty Python jelly" with ours.
Hi, Perry! My family met you on our last vacation here. I think it was this previous October. I loved watching everything you found. I still don't have my sharks' teeth eyes, but on Tuesday, I found several whelks, what seemed like 8 million olives, a whole sand dollar, and a beautiful banded tulip.
San has them
San?
Well that looks like alot of fun Perry! Fishing 🎣 & hunting at Edisto! What a blast 👍
That was so cool Perry! Those fish were pretty big! I’m wondering how old those sharks teeth are.
Grea video, Perry! Enjoyed being there. As always, it was good to see our friends at Edisto.
You r adorable. Thankyou
Hey mr. Perry this is tyler james I met you this year in june on the dock , you were with your daughter. Thanks for taking the time to talk to me , my dad and I were thinking about taking a trip down there before christmas , do you think December or January is good in the inlet ?
@@TylerJames-kr5im December can be a good month for sea trout. I will be staying at the campground , site 62, starting on December 8. I’m hoping to catch sea trout. Some days they are there, sometimes not. Good to hear from you. Hope you catch fish. Hope I see you there. -Perry
Thanks for sharing your experiences. Very encouraging. I've got a bunch of seedlings in the ground. I hope to graft on them in Spring (Southern Hemisphere).
Good for me 😋😋😋👍🏿
I just bought Fuyu Jaro bare rooted. Can I plant it nov in November?
Bait?
I planted a fuyu sev years back and hasn’t fruited yet . Boo. I know they are self fertile
@@robgilbert4556 that’s a real bummer.
Need some paw paw in the yard
I get paw paw in the late summer in the woods where I hike.
Good job. Very informative. I am so glad to find your video: 1. On the rootstock do you make a cut anywhere or only at the node? 2. Can you graft a fig cutting while it is rooting? 3. Zone 7a here. Would you recommend the best time to graft in Spring? 4. Have you tried air layer a fuyu persimmon tree? Keep up the good work. Thanks 🙏.
thanks alot sir
Thank you
I can see it now, it’s Thursday night, chapter meeting of the local Fails Angles M.C., Slick Dick to the members, “attention all you ass wipes, ATTENTION, tonight we have a special guest, it’s Pee Rush, and he’s going to teach us how to tie our DooRags the correct way so we can all be nonconformist together, the right Rush way. You’ll be tested afterwards so pay attention.”
I’ve been wearing these for years, especially under my helmet and did it a little differently but I like your way. Right on man🤙🏽
Hey Perry really enjoying your videos. Can I use a popping cork back in the inlet with success. Thanks in advance for any info.
You make us feel so special! We are at the airport waiting for our flight. Can’t wait to see you!❤
How to wear bandana like an aging rockstar do that next
@@mitchkupietz Lol I would if I knew how.
Ok, you got me. I just ordered a 2 pack because it was only $6 more. I have been busy harvesting elderberries and keep lookin for an easier way. I'll let you know if I am successful. Thanks for the tip.
Great video.
Lol now try that with long hair
OMG, THANK YOU so very very much! You've just saved me so many hours!!
I am so glad someone found this information useful! The way so many people de-stem elderberries takes the fun out of it. My second year crop of berries gave me enough to take me through the winter and more. I love de-stemming now.
nice
Nice job bro! 😎 got to try this! 🤗🌟
thanks
I can tell by the comments so many people have no experience with tile saws. They're not dangerous like wood saws. Loved the video, my wife bought a bucket of geodes and I was looking for ideas on how to open them.
Was searching online because my bandana collection just got upgraded, and saw that out of all the ones in the world, I have the same bandana has yours which is so amusingly weird haha!
Weird things do happen. :)
Happy Birthday! Love your video
Wow, impressive with Adams 2. Where do you buy your Adams 2 for planting?
I ordered cuttings from River Hills Harvest.
Happy Birthday 🎉
Thanks!
just done the recipes gonna try it out tmr!
It's dangerous. I can't stop eating this stuff!

oh i'll be damned i thought that was just a monty python joke
lovely! miss you!
I think this is the ichi jiro not the regular fuyu which is a smaller fruit, and the one you referred to as the ichi is the hachiya so you got it partly right. I have the ichi jiro fuyu, the regular fuyu, Giombo, hachiya and the saijo, they are all great fruits.
Big thanks
Glad I could help. :)
Nice 👌
You are so cool, Perry! Love your de-stemming method! Who knew?
@@teresagoodman5490 I saw dozens of Destemming methods before finding that one on UA-cam
I saw tons of elderberry destemming methods on UA-cam before I found this method. Why aren't more home growers knowing this method?
That is a lot of work
Yep. Worth it for me.
I tried a Fuyu when it was still firm but already a bright orange and found the skin to be astringent, am I doing something wrong? Should I be eating them at a later stage like in the video? Do you just leave them out on the counter for a couple of weeks?
I've never had an astringent Fuyu. I eat some as soon as they turn completely orange but are still firm. Letting them go longer after firm and completely orange makes them sweeter until they are softer.
What made you add muscadine juice to the blueberries? I have 3 1/2 cups ready muscadine and I was considering adding crushed blueberries to have enough for a batch of jam? I just can’t imagine how it will taste….
You've cracked the code!

I just throw the ingredients together and they vary from day to day. The chocolate vitamin drink gives it the sweetness. "Shakeables" from Melaleuca.
