Hello, Thank you for your truthful and detailed information! I have a question. I decided to take the intuit Academy online bookkeeping course. I'm now trying to pass the certificate exam- which is another discussion altogether! But, I also purchased the QBO course to be a certified Proadvisor on QB for Intuit. Do you think these could lay a good foundation for bookkeeping? I've always liked numbers, but my background is not in finance. However, I'm getting older and I want something more...more stability.. more control over who I work with and my worth. Can you please send a DM.

Let’s say I begin to deposit $2000 a month into the credit card that I’m trying to bring down but stop after two months. Will the credit card company expect me to continue to deposit 2000 in other words will they change my monthly payment over to $2000 a month because they thought OK she should be able to pay $2000 a month to bring down her credit card debt. I am really torn between the two. Initially I was planning on doing the debt snowball. However, one thing that concerns me is that once I send my money into my mortgage, I have no ability to ever access that cash again. It's a little scary since I would be putting thousands of extra dollars in monthly.

    • @FinancialCoachJess

This is the most risky method I’ve seen. I hope that no one using this method loses their job along the way. Deferring your bills to save a couple bucks does not seem worth the risk. Slow and steady is how you pay off debt. Curious to see how this would work if you don’t carry a balance. Then maybe you use this every other month.

    • @FinancialCoachJess

I just don’t understand why you’re comparing the debt snowball to velocity banking. It can all be done together. Velocity banking is just dumping your paycheck into which ever vehicle you’re using to decrease monthly interest. Whether you decide to do the debt snowball or start with the highest debt or the lowest debt or the highest interest rate versus the lowest interest interest rate. You would still use velocity banking either way.

According to my mortgage companies' amortization schedule.... If I make a chunk payment of $5000 to my 2.99% interest rate mortgage ill save $7658.25 and 9 months of payments. The credit card I'll be using will charge me a 3% ($150) transfer fee and 0% interest for 12 months. I can easily pay the $5000 off before the card starts charging me interest on the $5000. I will easily recoup the transfer fee with the credit card sign up bonus and points, actually coming out ahead by a couple hundred dollars... I use the Snowball method in conjunction with Velocity banking...

Question: I owe $9000 on Discover and $2700 to PayPal. Should I just pay all of PayPal first, or apply the $2700 to my high interest Discover?

I stumbled upon your videos by accident and I am not going to lie, your videos are the most honest ones out there with personal finance. I have been a Dave Ramsey fan for years but I also disagree with some of his teachings. I almost pulled the trigger on FCMT until I saw your videos about it and how I agree way more with you and your philosophy on finance. I hope to be able to save up and be apart of your team because it seems great. Keep doing what you are doing!! I know this is an old video but it was a good one.

I am paid weekly, does that make any difference at all in putting this into practice?

@KCandthesunshine-k1f No, it doesn't matter when you get paid. Figure out what bills cannot be put on your credit card (rent, mortgage etc) and keep this money in your chequing account and pay those from there like you normally do. Then, with the rest of your money "park your paycheques" when you get paid weekly. This will satisfy your minimum monthly payment and you continue to put the rest of your expenses on the card throughout the month (gas, groceries etc). It is actually better to "park" smaller amounts throughout the month as credit card companies can lower your limit without notice if you were maxed out and consider you a risk. Hope this helps.
