The Gift of the Son - John 3:16-19 (10-13-2024)
"For God so loved..." It's a famous text, both beautifully simple and profoundly transforming. Yet, we struggle with defining what God's love really is in light of our society's subjective standards for love. So these words of Jesus show that God's love is and God's love does. Follow how Jesus teaches this as Dan Webb preaches.

Переглядів 721 годину тому
Gender has become so politicized that we can lose sight of people. All people need healing at the depths of our sexuality and gender. How can we love people who wrestle with gender? What We Leave Behind - 2 Kings 2:1-18 (9-29-2024)
Переглядів 914 днів тому
In a culture that's obsessed with the "self," what we leave behind for future generations may end up being too little. But if we live out a story that's bigger than us, what we leave behind can serve many. If we live out God's story, we'll leave community, gifts, faith, love and grace for others to continue into the future. Before his miraculous departure, Elijah left much for Elisha and God's ...
Introducing the Gospel - 2 Kings 1 (9-22-2024)
Переглядів 821 день тому
Where we start in sharing the gospel has changed because assumptions about God have changed. There's less consensus about the nature of God in our more pluralistic society. So where do we start? First, we introduce the true God and expose false gods. Jeff Mammen preaching.
Consequential Choices, Pt 2 - 1 Kings 20, 22 (9-15-2024)

We continue to track with the choices Ahab made to consider what influences our decisionmaking. Does pragmatism or holiness? Do we make decisions by rejecting truth or adjusting to it? Do we use choices to hide or come clean? Jeff Mammen preaching
Consequential Choices, Pt 1 - 1 Kings 20 (9-8-24)
Переглядів 8Місяць тому
Our choices have consequences. They can lead us into life with God or into spiritual darkness. But we aren't always aware how we end up in the dark until it's too late. We can avoid the slippery slope into the dark if we diagnose the kinds of choices we make every day. The first consequential choice we learn from Ahab's life is whether we will suppress the truth of God or worship Him. Jeff Mamm...
Discerning Our Desires - 1 Kings 21 (9-1-2024)

Christians can be so suspicious of our desires that we repress them. On the other hand, our culture makes expression of our desires the ultimate realization of our humanity. So how do we avoid pitfalls into worldly desire while we honor God's good design for our desires? Jeff Mammen preaching.

About a staggering 70% of students leave the Christian faith after high school. Those students who hold on to their faith after high school are shown to be able to read the Scriptures on their own, and have mentor-type relationships with older adults in the church. How can we better disciple the next generation? We can be the church Jesus envisioned for them: His family. Jeff Mammen preaching

When life doesn't turn out the way we plan, we can despair and become despondent. The good news from the prophet Elijah's story is that this doesn't disqualify us from playing a role in God's redemptive story. God wants to restore the clarity of His mission, companionship and our calling, so we can participate in what He's doing in our world today. Jeff Mammen preaching

Hope for the Depressed

After a string of victories, Elijah descended into deep depression. His descent began when his fear hijacked the narrative and drowned out God's voice. How God responds to the despairing prophet gives hope to all of us that He can restore us from our despair as well. Jeff Mammen preaching
Pray It Through
Переглядів 22 місяці тому
God has given us many promises, but many remain unfulfilled in our lives because we haven't prayed them through into reality. We'll pray them through when we: 1) pray with Scripture to know His promises, 2) pray expecting they'll be fulfilled, 3) pray laboring until they are, and 4) pray looking for signs that God is working. Jeff Mammen preaching

What does it take to turn a person's heart towards God? It takes more than knowing the facts of the gospel. In the epic scene on Mount Carmel, the prophet Elijah prays that God would reveal Himself as the "heart turner." Here we learn that this showdown is less about the courage of Elijah and more about the power of God to turn hearts back to Him. Find how He's still doing this today. Jeff Mamm...

No one alive today was born "under the works of the law" and no one alive today was ever "under its curse". THEREFORE, No one alive today is/was redeemed from its curse. Thats a fact and a HUGE problem. Three questions: Were you ever part of the Old Covenant that Moses mediated? Were you born subject to the Mosaic law? Did Christ redeem you from the curse of the law? Correct answers: No No No
