The problem I have with AR550 is that it's more brittle and doesn't stand up to long term usage as well and starts cracking almost always from the corners and hole for the target hangers. AR500 cracks as well, it just takes longer. I guess it's a trade off.... Have you guys heard of SR500? AR was designed for the mining industry where as SR was designed to be used in a ballistic setting and is said to handle repeated impacts and resist cracking better due to its ductility and hardness balance. I haven't had a chance to purchase it yet and try it.

The T-post hanger system with T-post protector, is a solid setup that will (has for me) lasted a very long time, and it all stays out in the elements year round.

Excellent setup. Been using multiples of this with the 12x20, 9x15 silhouettes, and 8" round plates for a couple years now. Still holding up strong, year round, out in the elements without any maintenance, except for the occasional rattle can repainting.

Just got their steel armadillo stand and target. Goes together very well, all high quality, target slides right on. My only issue is stand should be adjustable for angle as the target is at too much of an angle. Yes it works as it should be the bullet splash going down. You can see that in outline of hits.

I wonder what a 7.62x39 steel core round might do to the steel targets. Even though it's slower than the 5.56 the steel core would probably have more weight so I wonder if it would make any difference, or one of those 7.62x39 api rounds that behave like the infamous ralphus rounds(cant remember the name of them lol)

Can these mount any standard steel plate, or does the plate mounting cutout have to be that same '+' shape?

I like your products but wish you would tighten up your tolerances so fit would be better.

Nice! What does "short-action rifle" technically mean?

I have a 1/2 inch thick 10x12 inch AR500 steel plate that I want to use as a target at 50 yards and 100 yards with my 30-06 rifle. Since I do not want to damage my target, I am considering gorilla taping a 1 1/2 inch thick 10x12 inch pine board to the face of the steel target. How much do you think the pine board will prevent damage to the steel target?

I spy a new base there! I think mine I had to bolt the upright to the base legs. Armadillo Short Range is a beast of a target system though!! I need to feature it in more of my videos!! Just gave me an idea. I'm learning PRS, so I might just move it from it's current location on my range to the other end of the field and see if I can make another long range target with it for practice. This may be outdated and I've certainly seen plenty of videos of people using these kinds of targets, but one of the very first things I learned about gun safety is not to shoot at a flat piece of steel that's facing back towards you. The ricochet, if there is one, is likely that you'll shoot yourself. Not true?

Jam and touch are NOT in the same place. Jam could be 30 to 40 thou more into the lands than touch is. Getting a pressure spike only comes from using a full load that has bullet jump and then seating the bullet to far into the lands to take away the jump. Then you'll get pressure spikes which can be dangerous. If all your loadings are in the lands from the start and you start with a low low charge and work up to pressure signs you won't have a problem with dangerous and dreaded pressure spikes.

I'm surprised this has only 4 plates. IMO this is inadequate and offers less enjoyment than trees with 6 plates. I have an armored Salute Targets tree. Expensive but well made and with 6 plates. I like Shoot Steel products but I believe this one misses the mark, though it appears very well made.

We've been using the Winchester deer season XP (150gr) 300aac on deer. Not many pass thru shots out of a half dozen but found all the deer if they ran at all. Highly recommend for kids, especially.
