Are you tired of memorizing English vocabulary only to forget it soon after? Discover why traditional methods of memorizing English vocabulary might be holding you back and what you can do instead.

The human brain can store almost unlimited amounts of memory, so why is it so hard to remember vocabulary words? The answer might surprise you since you're probably already doing it wrong. In this video, I’ll show you a better way to retain new words in a way you’ve probably never seen before.
Hi, my name is Cal, and I’ve spent the last 20 years helping English learners just like you use language to create better opportunities for themselves.
A strong vocabulary is essential to express yourself accurately and understand others effectively. It also boosts confidence, enhances career opportunities, and deepens cultural understanding.
So, it’s time to put down those flashcards and stop staring at new words while repeating them in your head. Effective learning happens when new information is linked to what you already know. Rote memorization like flashcards doesn’t work well, so the information is more likely to be forgotten. Instead, I have a better way of retaining new words and the science to back it up.
Don’t miss out on this innovative approach to learning English vocabulary.
Here is the ChatGPT Prompt covered in this video:
*** ChatGPT Vocabulary Power Prompt ***
Please do the following and consider each part step-by-step. 1. Create a short story using the following vocabulary words: [word 1], [word 2], [word 3], [word 4], [word 5]. The story should be engaging and emotional, and provide context for each word's meaning and usage. The story should be suitable for non-native English speakers who are learning English and should help them understand and remember the words better. Write at a 12-year-old reading level in terms of vocabulary and sentence structure. Use each target word at least three times. Use different forms for each target word (e.g., noun, verb, adjective, adverb) in the story. Highlight each target word by bolding it using markdown. Double-check that all target words are included and properly bolded in their various forms. 2. .After the story, include a brief explanation for each vocabulary word. Explain its meaning and how it was used in the story. Ensure the explanation is clear and suitable for learners at a 12-year-old reading level.

Hi everyone 👋😊 how's it going? I'm Sabrina from Algeria, so thrilled I came across this educative UA-cam channel...I'm bulking up my vocabulary, and taking my fluency journey to the next level, hopefully 😊 back to Ur question sir, the word "cooperation " really surprised me, I mean the way it's pronounced ! And it's the hardest word on today's list as well , thanks for making such useful videos where there's always a room for improvement 🎉
Hi Sabrina. So glad to hear from you: someone in Algeria. Maybe you are the first Algerian to comment! Also interesting to hear about your surprise with the word "cooperation." Of course, it may be pronounced differently in other parts of the world other than the USA. Nonetheless, it is lovely to see your comment, and I hope videos here help you make some progress in English while still being entertained. Have a great day!
Hello Teacher Cal How are you🙋♀️😊 I always waiting your lesson And thanks God Finally you uploaded the vidio lesson And i repeat after you😊🤗😊 So exciting....😉❤❤❤👌👍

Helo Teacher Cal😊🙋♀️ I've been thingking about your reply to me,, that if i ever have question about english,, you allowed me to ask ?? Now..i want to ask you something that i always strugle learning english or when i think about english My question are : 1). How to memorize vocabulary in efective way ?? ( so i will never forget new word) 2). How to understand fast english properly ?? ( so i get the point when i watch movie in english or podcast or short without subtitle or when i hear Pastor speech with english...because they always speak in fast...and i miss the point😢😢 3). How to think in english properly ●Not just think about every property around me like...oh.. this is pillow..that is my green book or that is window Because i believe native don't do that😂😂they will never think or mention Oh...this is umbrella..ah..this is my pen and this is my smart phone🤣😊 They will never do that They will never think about basic english. But...how can i think like native think in english...like how they think about deep thought like their opinion about life or about their future. Let me know So i can learn about that🙇♀️ And...that is my question Thank you sooo...much Teacher Cal Can't wait for your answer🙇♀️❤❤❤ God bless you Teacher Cal 🙇♀️❤❤❤
Hello Nenny. Those are actually very good questions. However, the solutions are not quick or easy. Language learning is often slow and needs continuous practice and patience. Since the answers to your questions are quite often complicated, I may dedicate a video to each of your three questions. However, here is a little quick advice for each: 1. How can I memorize vocabulary so I will not forget? OPTIONS: Practice using vocabulary in realistic situations or within stories. It helps to connect words with other ideas. This is how we can recall words or names quickly because they are connected with things we are more familiar with. 2. How can I understand quickly spoken English? OPTIONS: Listen to English every day: Watch English movies, listen to English songs, or find English podcasts. Start with slow speech: Use resources like UA-cam to find videos with slower speech. Practice with subtitles: Watch shows with English subtitles first, then try without them. Repeat what you hear: Listen and try to repeat phrases and sentences. 3. How can I think in English instead of having to translate in my head? OPTIONS: Practice regularly: Try to speak or write in English every day, even if it’s just a little. Surround yourself with English: Change your phone and computer settings to English, and try to read or listen to English content. Use simple sentences: Start by thinking in simple English sentences and gradually move to more complex ones. Don’t worry about mistakes: The more you practice, the better you will get, and it’s okay to make mistakes. I hope this helps a little and I look forward to better answering these questions in future videos! ^^ - Cal

Thank you so much. ^^
Where is the link? I can not find that.
It is in the description. But here it is: www.calhyslop.com/top20tvshows I hope that helps. ^^
Hey.. what do you think about watching yt reactions instead of TV shows? Would it work the same ? Last week I tried it and failed to stick on to the habit. The youtuber was penguinz0 and he talks with a moderate speed and touches a wide variety of topics. Although now, I don't have any particular habit for improving my English.
That is a good question. First of all, it is okay if you fail to stick to a habit. That is normal. You do not need to be perfect. Also, it takes several weeks for something to become a habit. However, if you enjoy a YT video or channel somewhere else for learning English, I suggest sticking with it. Learning is a journey. Try not to think about the destination. Try enjoying the journey.
