What to do in Sapporo
If you are wondering what to do in Sapporo, this video will give you a few ideas. Sapporo is famous for miso ramen and also crab. Although crab was definitely not my favorite, the experience is worth trying.

Too old to go back to school? (PART 1) Have some HOTPOT
How was your class schedule as a communications major? How was your workload? Did you have class every day? Were you able to enjoy Japan or just work and school!?
Why did you stop youtube and move back to LA? Was japan not working for you??
Hi. Sorry for the late response. I would say that I am on a long break from UA-cam. I’m going to start posting again soon. I did go back to LA for a short while but I’m back in Japan and building ideas for videos. So please look forward to them soon :)
Thanks for the video!
Sure thing. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for watching
Since the mixed reviews I don't think I will go but is fine they look better than other photos I found.
Yes it’s also quite a bit out of the way unless you plan on being in Sendai or somewhere relatively nearby. It was an interesting experience for sure.
How far is the Dorm from the Campus?
Sorry for the late response. The dorm that I stayed in is nearly 1 hour commute door to door. They have a couple of dorm buildings I believe, but they are all nearly an hour away.
@@wesworldjourneys Thank you so much! Oh wow that is far. We live in Tachikawa and my daughter will start TUJ in Sept. We were looking into staying in the dorms, but our house is closer. Took us 55 minutes door to door when we tested the commute.
@@Dangic23oh yes. Then the commute is very similar and can save a lot of money staying at home for now :)
Did you quit UA-cam?
I took a long break. I still enjoy it and I’m building out a return soon so please look forward to new videos soon :)
Great job on the new apartment ❤
Thank you!! 😊
I love how you make your UA-cam videos fun yet educational. I'm surprised you aren't a bigger UA-camr. You are definitely an underrated UA-camr!!
Wow thanks. That’s a huge complement. I have taken a long break from it recently but I am building out some new ideas and content so please look forward to them soon.
It's not changing the brakes, it's greasing the pins and the end of the shoes, even if a mechanic doesn't do that right they will squeak with brand new shoes. The answer is; a 6 mm Allen wrench, open the shell quickly by removing them in seconds, regressing the pins that you just removed. That will end it right there! I give you my word I just did it on my 2014 500e
No mention of the dorm costs and food?
For international students the dorm costs are built into the first semester of classes. I mean it’s in addition to the classes. I don’t remember the exact price but you also do not have a choice. It’s mandated to live in the dorm for your first semester unless you have family that already lives in Tokyo. So for basically everyone, you will have to live in the dorm for your first semester no matter what. Then you can move out into your own apartment. As far as food, there is a meal plan that you can buy but I did not do that so I can’t really speak to that. I cooked a lot or ate out. Most of the students either ate out or cooked for themselves.
how did you find an apartment?? I need tips!
Gaijinpot is a good source to look for apartments. They will connect you to an agent that will help you to find something. I was very lucky and was accepted to the first apartment that I liked. But it is true that as a foreigner, it can be very very difficult to find a place that is not explicitly for students.
Can you send a link to that share house in the video?
There are a ton of share houses in Tokyo. The one in the video is a company called Neighbors. Just google Neighbors Sharehouse Tokyo and you’ll find their site. They have a TON of properties. I’m actually about to move into a sharehouse from a company called Oakhouse. They also have tons of options. The one in the video is Neighbors Musashi Nakahara. It’s comparable time-wise to get to TUJ from there. About 55min ua-cam.com/video/GtFWfQcIRmc/v-deo.htmlsi=u980CGazG05lap8T
can you share how much your annual tuition is! i also plan to apply there after community and i wanna grasp how much i need to save
I’m sorry for the late response. I don’t know why UA-cam has not been notifying me of comments. The tuition while I was still there was around $15,000ish per school year. But you really have to go to the TUJ website for the specific current costs.
@@wesworldjourneys thats okay tysm for responding! i ended up transferring somewhere else and im going to japan in the fall 😆
@@basma6669 oh nice. Still going to Temple or another Uni in Tokyo?
@@wesworldjourneys i go to rutgers now in jersey! they have a great study abroad program selection and luckily i got it! 😊
@@basma6669great school! Well I hope you have fun with your time here in Japan!!
I love how even if the room is small, there's plenty of storage to store anything you need. Im hoping to study at TUJ starting in the fall of 2024, and I would love to even have my own little room like this! I would be grateful for anything even If I had the chance to study In Japan. You did very well showing details of the apartment, ways to make use of the space.
I also got accepted to TUJ for the fall semester of 2024. I'm scared and excited at the same time.
aa i'm planning on it too!! i'm super excited
You can totally find a place like this one. And I’m glad I could maybe inspire you a bit on your future home hunts :)
You’re about to start then. Good luck and I hope you have a great time here!!
Have you heard about any of the stigma surrounding TUJ and if so, would you recommend people to still apply since you have firsthand experience there? I'm interested in using my GI bill but I've been hearing negative things about TUJ in general. I enjoyed your apartment tour video as well. Thanks!
I’m sorry for the late response. I stepped away from UA-cam for a bit. But I’m back now. TUJ is a great school with great professors and new modern facilities. The dean is also very active with finding ways to improve the experience. This is going to sound very cliche but, I’d say you will get out of it what you put in. I enjoyed my time there but it could have been even better if I wasn’t such a hermit. I didn’t socialize too much and just did what I was supposed to do. I passed with good grades but I kinda missed out on a lot of social aspects that make going to a university a truly great experience. I know this doesn’t totally answer your question but I hope you get it :)
I’m in tears bc this is the only thing I want. I can’t explain it, but I feel like I would have finally accomplished something. Made it out of my small town, meet other young people, have normal struggles…thanks for showing this. I’m feeling more motivated
Same with me, im trying to get into temple university in tokyo when i finish high school
It’s a good school and living in Tokyo is great. I hope you can make that dream come true
Do it. If you can make it work I’d say go for it. It’s a fun time, good school, great city, and a lot of opportunities.
Very interesting places to visit, thank you😊
Hey! Great channel im watching all your vids now, what are your plans after you graduate TUJ ? Do you want to stay in japan and find work? And if so what would you be looking into? Im getting out of the navy soon and looking to use my GI bill at TUJ and live in japan for the longterm, your channel giving great insight.
Im also a navy vet and about to transfer to TUJ. I'd say the biggest thing is to gain yourself experience in whatever job you wanna get into. They look for experience the most, really doesnt matter where you get your degree. As long as you show that youre a perfect candidate for the job, as well as know Japanese, you'll increase your chances at working in Japan
Hi sorry, I stepped away from UA-cam for a bit but now I’m back. Thank you for watching my videos. I’m flattered and grateful :) I went home for a bit after I graduated but now I am back for the long haul (I hope). Honestly I’m working a couple of part time jobs while studying more Japanese so that I can have a better shot at landing a good job here. If you are planning to come. Study study study. You really do need Japanese to live here. Well, to live here and be successful.
online it says no one that does not live there (like a friend) can come into your dorm. Are they strict about that?
With the dorms yes it’s pretty strict. And they have like, dorm supervisors that live there with you. So if you want an overnight friend you’ll have to go to theirs or get a hotel.
This looks like a dream to a guy like me.
Dreams do come true haha. Look into it more if it seems to suit you :)
Your tour is very fun to watch. You reveal it all. 😊
Thank you Wes
oh wow hey we’re in the same class!
Oh wow really? Which class?
@@wesworldjourneys digital mapping! i do recognize you from the dorm video i watched before i moved to japan ^^
Please make a video on normal living expenses in Japan and what's about the pass of trains...

I am interested in a day in the life of video idea, also thanks for this video and your whole channel really it's been very helpful🙏
I really like the setup of the bed behind the couch while still having leg room to move around. I also liked your apartment floorplan too. Thanks for sharing. New subscriber :)
Thank you for the sub!! And thanks for the comment. I tried to make the best out of the small space and it really feels homey. Thank you 🥰
Would you say acceptance to TUJ is “easy” for someone with a decent academic background
I’m not gonna use the word easy. But I also wouldn’t say difficult. Just apply. It’s easy enough to do that and then when you get accepted we can talk more about the next steps. But if you are interested, definitely apply. :)
I got in a few weeks ago as a senior, I don’t think it’s hard as long as you are passionate about Japan in your writing

Hey, I'm going to apply for Fall 2023 in a few days. How did you submit your transcript? And should I also submit certificates of my extra curricular activities? If so, should I submit it with my transcript or sent it seperately through email?
Hi. My transcript was handled all digitally from my community college website. There should be an option to submit your transcript to Temple from your previous schools site. I didn’t submit any extra certificates (I should have. I didn’t think about it I was too excited/nervous) I think there is a separate place that will be obvious along your application journey where they will ask for certificates or special programs.
So good to see you Kyle and Wes. We love you ❤
Hello Wes and Kyle
Hi! :)
Those foxes are fine! They have a cushy life with guaranteed food and shelter! They look very « chill ».😊
Hey man, I applied for spring semester of 2024 and I haven’t heard back and it’s been 3 weeks, do you know if they will send physical mail if you got accepted or an email? Your videos are awesome!
Hi. Thanks for watching. :) Um. We are at the end of the fall semester right now so maybe they are busy with that at the moment? End of semester plus holidays happening. They should get back to you by email. 3 weeks isn’t too long. If you haven’t heard anything maybe by end of January, I would send a follow up email.

Is it possible to move other apartments during first semester of junior?
As I understand it…no. All students are required to live in the dorm for their first semester. It’s part of the visa requirements or something. You can double check with OSS office of student services to double check if there are other options. But I believe you have to be there for your first semester regardless of what school year you are in. My group were allowed exceptions because of when we came in and surrounding covid stuff. But I think it’s back to normal now.
The Marrriot will have Bloody Maries. Treana Austin Hope tasting room
I’ll remember that for next time. Thank you 🙏🏼
welcome to korea!
I hope it was a short but memorable trip to Korea Next time, please come and play for a longer time 🤩
Is it possible to tell me the dimensions of the area to store luggage in the room?
Hi. I don’t live there anymore and I don’t have access. But I can say that it will fit any large size luggage I’ve ever seen. The large “hidden” storage that is under the bed will fit one large suitcase for sure. And you could fit a couple of smaller ones in the front opening. Again you are only here for the first semester and then you can move into a larger apartment.
Ships on cruises use Yokohama
What brands for the travel sim to you recommend for short terms stays for tourists that you can get at the narita airport? Thanks!
So long as the SIM company uses SoftBank, AU, or Docomo towers then you will be fine. None are really better than the other and are the three major carriers. You will have strong coverage anywhere you go. As good as any regular plan. 👍🏼
@@wesworldjourneys Ok thanks! I’ve read a few things online about tourists having issues using their overseas phones with Japanese sim cards, and I’ve seen Sakura Mobile and Mobal phone companies come up as good options. Any advice?
@@0003smile those were in older days of cell phones. All the SIM cards are the same now. Of course your phone must be unlocked and not bound to a company like Verizon or AT&T etc. but so long as your phone is unlocked. You’ll be fine. Worst case scenario is you rent a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot instead. But honestly you’ll be fine. I had Mobal for about a month. It’s ok. Not the greatest speeds but it’ll work.
@@wesworldjourneys Ok that’s great to hear, thanks!
Love it bro keep posting stuff about temple university please 🙏🏻
Hey love this video!!! I have a question, I saw in your comments that you went to community college and I just wanna say I went to community college too and taking a gap year and I was wondering how did your credits transition? and how is tuj? Bc I really wanna go there but on Reddit there are some strong opinions and I want someone's opinion from someone that is there.
Hi. Thanks for the comment. Yeah so long as you completed all of your GenEds at your CC then you should be mostly fine. Of course they will tell you when you submit your transcripts. There might be a couple of Temple specific classes you might have to do. But that comes from the main campus in Philly. As for the school itself, I think it’s a fine school. We have a student body of around 2000 I think. Brand new building and a lot of state of the art stuff. I can only speak to the communications program but it’s pretty good I think. I’m television and film production track and it’s pretty comprehensive. But it’s a decent school and you get to live in Japan. So you get your degree and get to live in an amazing place. So I’d say apply and have them go over your transcripts to see a plan. Hope that helps. :)
It's happening! Would love to visit Japan on vacation some day.
You should come man. It’s a ton of fun. So much to do and see :)
